That was the worst stoppage I have ever seen in ten years of MMA viewing, the second worst was the eyepoke fiasco earlier.  This promotion is clown shoes.

Kimbo was gonna lose. Had to stop it.
He could barely get through the interview he was so worn out.
So the ear popped.
Big deal.
It is what it is but I agree. Bad stoppage.

Those stoppages on the last two fights were rediculous.

Kimbo was going to win, end of story. He is going to make them too much money to let this guy lose.

You can do everything except fight the fight for the guy,  they took the rest of that fight away from the fans, its just too bad i guess.  Why people support kimbo I will never know.

No way kimbo was going to lose. That ref was going to look for any chance to stop it. Kimbo knew that too. Dudes ear may have fallen off if not.
Kimbo is taking advantage of the hype even he kows that. He is a draw no question. Elite need him to even think of staying around. his hype can rival UFC, not warranted but he is an icon. Good for him hoping I can go to the next fight.

Fixed fights huh????    Sounds like MMA or UFC or what ever you call it is going to going the corrupt route like boxing.     Remember that money is the root of all evil.

Excellent point.  1 on 1 contest?  Money talks.  Always has, always does, always will.  Even made 1 dollar taking Kimbo, whom I figured "they" wouldn't allow to lose.  Thompson got paid off, and so did the ref.

The deal now is this......BOXING is and always will be number 1, as corrupt as that sport is.  All this MMA/UFC stuff will NEVER take the place of boxing.......NEVER.

I watched the whole deal on CBS and would never waste time like that again.  Oh yeah, those guys and gals last night are elite athletes, but choking someone just doesn't make the sport compelling.

MMA/UFC...................

MMA will not take the place of Boxing mainly because most don't understand the technical aspects of ground fighting.  I think it is a sport for the more cerebral combat sport fan.

what are you smoking?

KImbo is natural fighter

this is only the 3rd fight

the other guy had a lot of MMA fights under his belt

All he could do was trying to win by submission

Kimbo kicked his ass ..

sure Kimbo was tired sow was his opponent with a busted ear

had the referer not stopped, kimbo would have knocked him out Period

Yep, I agree......I don't understand the technical aspects of fighting on the ground.
 
It's out of my league.  Seems like it would take literally years to get good at all the chokes and submission tactics.
 
Kimbo did what he was supposed to do......brought in viewers and CBS was able to make money after paying their sponsors.  Therefore, Kimbo was allowed to win.
 
All about money in today's world.  Not a damn thing else matters.

Kimbo Slice.....didn't he gain all his initial fame by basically just rhino charging opponents in full 100% fury?
 
If that was his initial training, no wonder he looked out of his league last night against that big "Colossus" guy that did all the ground fighting.
 
Kimbo's going to take years and years to get up to speed with all the choking and stuff.  Kimbo just wants to charge and attack.  He's going to be too old, though, to keep up this nonsense.
 
If I were he, I'd ride this wave (CBS telecasts and endorsements) as long as possible and try to save as much money as possible.  Then, get the hell out of this lunacy.

BULLSHIT STOPPAGE!!!!...Thompson was supposed to get KTFO in the first round.  When the fight was doing the distance, and Thompson dominating Kimbo on the ground they got nervious, and the first chance they could get they stopped the fight.

Nobodys even talking about when in the 1st Thompson had Kimbo on the ground, had just secured full side control working toward full mount when the ref stands them up for "no action"!    In the second when Thompson had him pinned and defensless it was obvious he wasnt supposed to pound him out....Any average fighter would have pounded him out Kimbo had given up!   Then of course the stoppage it was a very bad call but Kimbo was not ment to lose anyway!   Its natural to protect your PROMO fighter but they crossed the line last night!

Stoppage was early but valid, Thompson was pretty much done at that point.  Thompson is no ground fighter, he's a big banger who wisely took an inexperienced Kimbo to the ground.  I guess the elitexc matchmaker was expecting a standup war, which is how Thompson normally fights, but he usually gets knocked out eventually due to a weak chin.

I think the stoppage was OK.  Thompson looked to be pretty much finished.  EliteXC has a long way to go to catch up to the quality of even the WEC much less the UFC.  What is sad for Kimbo is Thompson was hand-picked for a first round KO.  He has lost seven of his last nine fights including  getting submitted once and knocked out six times.  Not exactly main event material.

no i was not in the cage, but i did see that Thompson was still throwing punches at kimbo when the ref came in to stop the fight, and based on Thompsons reaction when the fight was stopped it looked like he was all there
