I am new UFC dont understand how guy has tons of damage to his face and other guy none but he wins because he had him on ground did 0 damage

I dont get it just because you get guy on ground and other guy pounds you while your on top you win 49-46. The guy did nothing but take him down.  Is this wresting where it is two points for take down. He got one good shot on him all match.

 I get it but previous fight woman dominated her while she on ground almost choked her out and got submission and guy did nothing except lock arms around guy. The guy broke out of it so why not points for breaking loose.
