HAPPY DERBY DAY

Well at least yesterday wasn't disastrous & my stable play @ Oaklawn Two Seven O won paying $15.60.

The scratch of The Puma must have the connections heartbroken but in the same vain, owners of 3 AE's are ecstatic to get into the race. 

In the 13 race card yesterday, 3 jockeys won 10 of those races: JOSE ORTIZ WON 5, IRAD WON 3 & TYLER WON 2. Don't be surprised if it happens again today.

My BEST BET of the day is in Race 9 #12 REMEMBER MAMBA. I also like #6 KNIGHTSBRIDGE in the 10th & I think #10 BANISHING might pickup the pieces. Lastly in Race 11, I like #6 RHETORICAL .

If anyone keeps a stable, I would add Sovereign Law into it after a nice ride by Franco & getting this young colt to be patient until the hole opened up for him to grab 2nd @ 20-1 IN THE 2ND.

RACE 4 has the 4 & 5 as our chalk in a 5 horse. I can't play that so I'm taking a mare who is 15 for 15 ITM & that is #6 R DISASTER

I've been hesitant to play longshots with 2 heavily played horses like we had in this race. I've seen it plenty of times when someone went like Tyler gate to wire or the favorites burn each other out & a longshot passes them to pick up the check.

Race 8 is a race to watch for me, should be a battle between the two strong favorites. Anyone like anything else?

RACE 8 #1 Englishman looks like he'll like the added distance. #5 Stope the Car has won at this 1 mile distance over this Churchill surface. #6 Crude Velocity is very dangerous because he could come off the pace & catch the speed. I have a horrible West Coast bias & rarely trust the shippers from Cali. Now watch him win going away. #10 Great White is visually  scary. #11 One More Freud hasn't done anything wrong winning 2 of 2 but hasn't raced since 8/30/25 at Monmouth. Trainer Bobby Hess will be the 3rd new trainer. Tom Amoss & Mike Maker both won with this guy & lost their jobs. You're guess is as good as mine on this guy. 

I'm on #1 Englishman...they will have to catch him & Jose gets his 1st winner of the day for trainer Cherie DeVaux.

Race 10 TRI KEY 12 WITH 4-6-7-10-14

That hurt.

Jose Ortiz had way too much ground to make up on the chalk. He obviously needed to be closer to the pace. You can't sit last 14 lengths off the pace & expect to catch a quality colt.

Can't remember a horse on a derby card with a ML of 30-1, bet down to 5-1 & winning like Secretariat.

The massive line change after he left the gate dropped him from 12-1 to 5-1.

 There are betting syndicates that are using computer assisted wagering to put large bets in the last second of wagering. To make a horse drop from 12-1 to 5-1 on derby day it had to be a very significant bet.

RACE 11..this is my 2nd top choice on the card. #6 RHETORICAL IS MY PLAY

THE DERBY

Posted a bunch of stuff but it really doesn't mean anything because it just comes down to who is the best horse today. Data suggest my pick historically doesn't have a chance because of his post position & I really haven't talked about him much. But his race replays are so impressive I kept going back to him. A skilled jock can turn their post position into an advantage & I think the best horse in the race is #1 Renegade.

Trainer Cherie DeVaux is a disciple of Chad Brown & has about 100 horses under her care. She's got Golden Tempo who will be racing at another track other than the Fair Grounds for the 1st time. She added blinkers in his last & Jose Ortiz thinks it helped keep him focused. Since he's a dead closer, she doesn't mind post 19 because it will allow for Ortiz to get a spot down the rail & let everybody else get bounced around, steadied etc. 

Maybe I should reread my own shit!!
