Why does Christopher Nolan (Dark Knight/Inception) keep casting unattractive women?

THIS is an ugly duckling?

This and this are "both much more attractive" than this?

The only choices out there aren’t casting a woman that can act decently and looks like a 6 and casting a woman that acts like a super model and looks like a 9.5.  There are other opinions available.

Also while I don’t agree with the decision to cast Hathaway as Catwoman, I can see how many would think it was a good choice. However, the casting of Gyllenhaal remains a fucking mystery. How any sane and sober person would cast her for that role (or think it was a good decision) is beyond me. If that droopy-faced bitch wasn’t in it The Dark Knight would be damn near perfect.

I think Maggie actually made it better. Sure, a hot chick is great to look at, but lets be realistic.....hot chicks (model types) dont have jobs like that. I think it actually made the story more believable because shes a 6.

I think thats what sets Nolan apart. You see a 6 who is loved by 2 men because of who she is, not what she looks like. Thats why he is a genius and we bitch about shit on covers.

Once again, no one is saying he should have gotten a “model type” with Megan Fox caliber acting. Just an actress that is at least mildly attractive.

So having a young pretty boy billionaire and a young pretty boy DA fighting over an attractive woman is NOT believable, but having them fight over a woman that looks like droopy dog IS believable?

You talk about what is and isn’t believable and then you say you like the idea of two powerful, high profile, young pretty boys fighting over a homely woman “because of who she is, not what she looks like.”

Unless this is taking place in a G-rated Disney movie, that is not believable.

An actress like Rachel McAdams would have been perfect for the female lead in The Dark Knight, but instead Nolan casted Maggie Gyllenhaal.

The Dark Knight was an excellent movie but it got so annoying how all three male leads were either fighting over or talking about how beautiful a woman was who was, at best, a 6.

One of the villains in the next Batman movie (The Dark Knight Rises) is Catwoman. Catwoman is supposed to be sex on a stick. Unless you have the hormones of a 16 year old boy or have been in prison for decades, Anne Hathaway is not sex on a stick. Hell, she isn’t even attractive.

I realize that Nolan has a fetish for ugly women (hell, just look at his wife) , but why does he insist on casting average looking women for roles that call for a MUCH better looking woman?

Well, maybe you should watch the movies again. She was Bruce Waynes childhood friend/sweetheart (kinda) and the co worker of 2 face. So yeah, they both have reason to love her even though she isnt a 10. Its called character depth, not just the eye test. Thats why Nolan is proving himself a genius.

Its not Disney and its not the shit other people produce. Everyone in the real world doesnt marry or date a model.

You’re missing the point that the character is supposed to be “beautiful.” Nolan wasn’t trying to drive home some Disney type Beauty and the Beast message of loving an unattractive person because of “who she is, not what she looks like.”

I'm not even sure what you're trying to argue Train. I respect your opinion but it seems your playing devils advocate for the hell of it.

It was a bad casting job by Nolan, but an unthinkably good movie.

Jeez. Shes the girl next door. A 6 in the face/body but a 10 in personality.

I'm not trying to argue. I respect Nolans decision on casting and obviously the end result was a great movie.

Just my opinion, but the man knows what hes doing.
