As a person who hasn't drank in 24 years and a recovering alcoholic, I can only give you a question what a mentor of mine asked me when it came to this subject....
How does alcohol effect your life?

As a person who hasn't drank in 24 years and a recovering alcoholic, I can only give you a question what a mentor of mine asked me when it came to this subject....
I had a dilaudid (those yellow little rascals) problem for years. It was worse than death(figuratively speaking) rehabbing from that. Good to be careful in your consumption of anything (alcholol, drugs, food)
I only took 50 of them bad boyz of the 50 mg type (but I didn't speedball them which is what they were good for, especially injecting which isn't my route)....I still wish I had more, but back in the day I Spread My Wealth, OC seems to be the worst of any opi that I ever came across...200 of the 80's even had me going through some withdrawal even while consuming 30 mg's of Hydrocodone every hour, yep true figure and I didn't even include the vali's/xani's/ or other sleeper's like chloral hydrate temazepam or halcion, tho I usually enjoyed a soma or two everytime I took my dose (which was hourly).... I enjoyed many med's and even after suffering through that shit I still would take them like candy, but now I know I can handle that I guess (not pleasant) but I just am trying to avoid the shakes...I've never had that strong of a desire to drink (yes I love to drink when watching sports) I don't know why but it makes every play that much better when aiming for a certain spread....
My main concern is/was what happens before the shakes??? I trust my strength in beating addiction, I did it w/ opi's at tremendous volumes and you might as well include benzo's, but I have read/heard alcohol can produce some of the worst w/d symptoms....Smoking some herb can always keep me from drinking, but sometimes that isn't always obtainable
I know I'm not to the "shakes" yet, but I would like to stay far away from that shit, While still enjoying my glass/bottle
Are there certain headaches or desires, or does it just happen after a year or 2, and if I go a day or 2 between drinks does that create issues that I don't want to go through again?

First of all you are or you aren't, alcoholism is not acquired. If you are an addict chances are you are an alcoholic, I used to trade one addiction for another for 10 years until I figured it out. The key here is that you have an addictive personality, this is what makes you susptable to substance abuse, addicts like to change the way they feel. The big question here is.....How do you feel when you are not drunk or drinking for a long period of time? Are you irritable, restless and discontent? If so you might be an alcoholic.
I get what you're saying, yes if not pills then pot or if not either than alcohol enlightens my mood....I enjoy being sober for part of the day, but I also love being buzzed/fucked up...I spent half my life under certain influences, and I will always SMOKE, but alcohol has become a great substitute/enhancer....I know I'm an addict (pills, gambling, sex, what not) but I also know I can beat many demon's as long as I desire. Understandably the question is loaded, but as long as I don't feel w/d effects from not drinking I'm all GOOD
I could easily tell if I hadn't taken any "meds" for 12 hours as I would tingle and not think straight among other factors, and actually w/ alcohol I feel good not drinking on a day, especially if I'm hungover...But usually the following day I find myself wanting to enlighten/enhance my mood...Hell that use to be LSD Wayyy back in the day but that was once weekly and that sure as fuck never had me addicted the way other "substances" have. I would be the 1st to admit my addictive tendencies, but w/ alcohol I feel there is no issue. Yes I enjoy a drink or 10 but it has no grip like other things use to
I'm a strong believer of enjoying "life" while you can, but I also want to hedge on the side of some caution when alcohol is involved. I definitely have enjoyed a drink before driving to the store, or shoveling a driveway, even listening to music, but I have no "need" unlike many other substances...
I take it from most that moderation is key, and I also believe in that, but I haven't heard if drinking every other day or 3 outta 7 days creates an alcoholic....Not that I'm ignorant about my personality, I just want to stop it when it (short-term) becomes a problem

How does alcohol effect your life?
I will have to ponder that question after finishing my rum and coke

It seems to me that you are always on some unnatural high and without some type of drug, life becomes too much for you to handle. Your addictive personality is a train wreck waiting to happen. And moderation is the key, but in your case, it is HIGHLY unlikely that this would be achieved.
Start going to the gym and you may lose most of the desire to continue putting all that crap in your body.
