Venom and poison in nature is an absolutely fascinating creation of nature imo. No two are alike. The complexity of proteins that can both act as a neurotoxin or hemotoxin is pretty incredible. There's no doubt that venom can save lives but venomologists are just skimming the surface. They've uncovered only 2% of all species in the wild.

The Inland Taipan snake venom can box up 15 adults with one drop of venom. That's some serious juice.

Yeah it's interesting that poison can kill but it can also help someone by killing what might be afflicting them.  This is not my expertise but it's awesome to have a scientific and intelligent thread on this once in a while.

Would be great to see more.

Nature sustains life as she takes life. Something lives because something dies. This duality is as seems good or bad is our perspective. Reality it is. Thus venom can destroy a bacterial infection such as pencillian a secretion of fungi thus to the bacteria pencillian is bad it quite a thought to ponder.

If you really want to get into a nasty jelly, check Iricanji. It's a cousin of the Box and only the size of your smallest fingernail. They slip easily through nets in Australia and they can't stop 'em.
One scratch from one of these person and you're convulsing in the ER for days fighting for your life.

Sea turtles eat jellyfish but they don't necessarily rely on them as their primary food source. It's somewhat interesting that an animal which simply goes with the flow and allows the tides to guide it could be so successful. Jellyfish and sharks seem to be making a big resurgence here in Florida.

Good guess but no. No idea why we chose the Bald Eagle as the symbol of our country. Those things are scavengers. The difference between a Bald Eagle and a Vulture is none.
Wild Turkey was the better runner up. Talk about a bad beat. Lose the contest and everybody gets their head chopped off once a year.

The other less famous eagle, golden. If not maybe an albatross. The higher the hunting altitude plus the larger the bird equals the top velocity.

I think I remember seeing this on animal planet or somewhere, they dive at such speed that they get fish like 50 ft deep in the water column and the fish are like "WTF?" but I can't for the life of me remember the bird
