lost $2.2 BILLION in the first 3 months of this year. How the fuck does that happen?

Because in every post office you have 10 lazy ass people standing around doing nothing when you'd need actually 1-2 people there working

Very true. Efficiency is not a strong point of theirs.


I may have been under rock for a good chunk of this year but $2.2 billion is a shitload of money for any business to lose. Not to mention the $1.6 BILLION they lost in the same period last year.

Well I'm sure you know what's going to come up now. They'll increase the price of stamps so that they can have 13 lazy people doing the job of 3 people.

One of the reasons it's because they're not selling a lot of stamps anymore because a lot of people don't use them anymore but you can bet on it, stamps will go up a few cents again.

 Can anyone spare a few cents?

Next time you pay a bill through the mail, take it somewhere other than UPS and see if it cost more than the price of a stamp.

I know that this is true in a lot of places,but my P.O.is decent and the folks there work hard.No shit.

In 2006 Congress passed the Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act. In that law they required the USPS to prefund it's retiree health care benefits for the next 50 years.

also, the USPS has to have an office in every small town in america. its ridiculous

fedex or ups has one within 10 miles of my house. yet i have 2 post offices within 3 miles and i dont live in a city..small town with lots of farmland

also, the USPS charges the same rate to deliver a letter next door as they do to deliver the same letter from NJ to Alaska even though the cost is much greater

One quick fix to save a few bucks would be to cut Saturday delivery. However, that hasn't happened and they are still debating on it. I'm sure the world can wait until Monday to get some catalogs and credit cards applications. Either way, they will cut employees, which is long overdue as well. Online banking is killing the US postal service.
