Those that voted for Trump arent sure he will do a good job. At best, people think he'll be successful at a 60 yes /40 no clip. Most like me, think its a coin flip. America gambled on that coin flip as they knew exactly what america was gonna get if Hillary won....and obviously our country is circling the toilet.....so that was a terrible idea....

Those against Trump are 100% certain he will fail. Which is just silly. Whats worse is those against him HOPE and WANT him to fail. That just means you are a very sad and selfish person...and unamerican.....

    "Protesting"....aka rioting....yeah, that'll help things....

A very sad group of individuals. Simply pathetic. I dont know if youre wrong about Trump or not.... but for americas sake I hope you are.

I think the economy will get so much better even the naysayers will come on board, What he's done already with forcing companies to stay in America is incredible, Of course a company has it's rights to locate wherever they want but if you want the American cheddar, You need to keep Americans employed.

How can any sane American not agree or like the above?

I didn't vote for Trump or Clinton.......but it'll be a much more interesting four years with Trump in office. I also find it laughable how the libs believe the sky is falling. I'm not a real political guy, but I watched the election results roll in on MSNBC & was entertained by the reactions.........people crying, people calling foul, rioting, etc.

I'm surprised at the immaturity (maybe I shouldn't be) of the idiots denouncing everything that has to do with Trump. I read where some morons were dissing the Girl Scouts because they were invited to show up for the inauguration. Grow up people! JFC, they're just kids.....it should be a thrill for them but you wanna make it a nightmare. Shame on all of you.

People thought Obama winning was the end of the world.

People out there thought Obama was going to personally show up on their doorstep and ask for their guns.

This is the same overreaction to an unpopular victor.

    Lather, rinse, repeat

No its not. I don't remember conservatives and republicans rioting when Barry won.

Everyone who was disappointed Obama won braced themselves, got up the next morning and WENT TO WORK.

It's the feminist and climate change lobby that has driven this women's march and this whole demonizing Trump process Vern. Do you know how much of a threat Trump is to all these eco businesses? They are terrified, If the leader of the Western world dismisses your entire hypothesis on business and life, It could hurt them in the pockets badly. This climate change lark is big money and the people pushing that agenda/milking it are running scared because they know Trump sees through that bs.

This is the same overreaction to an unpopular victor.

    Yes, and No.

There were unhappy people when Obama won, no doubt.
FOXNews was painting a dim picture of this countries future.
    This is all true.

But what is taking place now is 8 years ago on massive steroids.

    There were no protests.
    No rioting.
No politicians refusing to attend the inauguration.
    No marches.
    No MSM on attack 24/7.
What is going on today is simply stupid.

BWS, I recognize that you and I have differing political views, and I respect that, just as I respect everyone's right to their own opinion.
But I find it hard to believe that most people who did not support Trump won't acknowledge that the hysteria and actions of democrats over the last 2 months has been inappropriate.

This country denounces racial prejudice, yet at the same time promotes political prejudice.

It's a shame that most can't recognize the hypocrisy

what has trump done to "force" companies to stay in america?

there was that carrier situation where they ended up sending moist of the jobs to mexico and got a huge tax break to do it.  some of the jobs stayed here but there was no guarantee that they will stay for any period of time and carrier indicated they'd use this new tax break handout to invest in automation.  if you want more details about this, alangrrs who lives in Indiana and knows this situation well made a thread about it.

what i found "incredible" about it is trump campaigned on the idea that companies who sent jos out of the country would be punished with higher taxes.  then, the first company to do it gets a tax break that he negotiated.

and then there were a few companies who announced plans to keep jobs here months ago and trump sent out tweets taking credit for it.  if there is any proof trump had anything to do with any of these, i'd love to see it and i'd surely give him credit.

as for the economy getting much better, that will be easy to measure.  if you go to objective sources for news, they will tell you the economy is expanded and improving over the last several years.  it's a moderate improvement so there's plenty of room for trump to do better.  i'm sure every normal person hopes he can do whatever a president can do to make the economy that much better.

All these protesters just proves that they were literally just getting a free ride in this country and now they fear it is coming to an end. I think Trump will be great for businesses and the economy. Money first in my opinion. All those social issues are just lame.

Hey, I think protesters are as pathetic as anyone else who has a realistic view of the world does....   I can't stand Hollywood actors preaching their views, whether it be Clint Eastwood talking to an empty chair or Meryl Streep turning an award speech political...

Look at it this way..... We just spent 8 years seeing one side (R) doing everything they could to sabotage and keep the last President from succeeding, even going as far as a high ranking (R) saying they would do anything they could to make him a 1-term President....   Now those same people expect the other side (D) to just sit quietly and say or do nothing about the new regime?    We all know that won't happen, because they are just going off the example set by the Republicans for the last 8 years.   It's stupid.  It's childish.    But it's the new way.   Whine and cry till you're heard.

You don't try to earn respect anymore, you try to earn attention

I'll bet half, probably more of these protesters lives won't be affected by anything Trump does... but protesting is the popular thing to do now.

i honestly don't understand why people get angry with protesting.  first, you can completely ignore it but, well, ignoring it.  it's one thing if they are shutting down the roads in your city, then i get it, but almost no one is going to be inconvenienced by this.

secondly, basically, what you are saying is, these people are exercising their constitutional rights that americans died for, and i'm pissed about it.

anyway, obama got a lot of nasty sh*t after he won.  you can google obama protests or any search phrase like that and find many examples.

    like this:

    https://www.revelist.com/politics/america-responds-obama/5855

and that doesn't include the political protests by elected officials bws mentioned.  and that does hurt everyione.  maybe if these republicans didn't throw a tantrum and actually tried to work with obama, we could have gotten farther with healthcare laws and other sh*t that both sides contributed to to help people rather than just taking a political position to serve themselves.

Part of the reaction to Trump is that Progressives/leftists see that their whole reason for being is threatened and they look forward and ask "Who can carry the shield of Progressive agenda?" E.Warren,N. Peloise,B.Sanders,?? Hillary is dead and Obama rules from exile so the Leftists try the same old tricks that failed through the election, protests, unfit by way of past statements/actions,and unrelenting false/negative press spins.
What's new is that establishment Republicans and Conservatives also see the decline/erosion of the whole reason for their existence also. Both camps are beginning to see that Trump meant what he said on the campaign and he was taking names and giving notice.

I wasn't angry with any protesters until one tried to grab my hat off my head. What gives him the right to put his hands on anyone? Then another protester was smashing the window of a store. If that's protesting that people support then something is wrong.

    i understand that.

there are a shitload of protesters for this thing.,  there are bound to be some idiots.

but, constitutional rights come with a price.  it's why westboro baptist church are allowed to picket a soldier's funeral and say they are happy he died because god hates gays or whatever./  and we should be happy they can do that.

anyway, when some of the protesters do stupid garbage, that's why we pay the police who work for us to take those guys out and protect everyone else's right to protest without causing trouble.

The R's worked against Obama, this can't be debated ... but partisan politics is as old as Shrimp1958. It didn't start with Obama, and it won't end with Trump.

The difference today, as opposed to 20 years ago, is the advent of the internet, and the grossly biased media.

Trump has been divisive with his words, but I would argue that the internet and MSM has been a far greater force as it relates to divisiveness.

    Yesterday was a perfect example.
In my estimation, Trump's speech was fantastic.
He basically said that the people have been getting screwed from the politicians in DC, and that is changing today!!!
Who could argue with that? ... the left leaning media, that's who.

Chris Mathews referred to the speech as "Hitlerian"
    Seriously?!?!?!?

Rachel Maddow took great joy in reading protesters signs along the parade route. Never a mention that they were in the minority by a huge margin, never a mention that there was great support for Trump, never a mention of anything other than finding one morsel of something to focus on that could somehow dampen the day for Trump.
    Seriously?!?!?!?

The day prior, CNN did a piece on what would happen if Trump and Pence were assassinated before being sworn into office.
    Seriously?!?!?!?

As for the internet, for all the good that comes with it (such as providing a platform so Bigred can explain how Jimmy Smith is the greatest player in the history of the NFL) it is also a cess pool of hatred for both Trump supporters and detractors.

FOXNews is as guilty as the others in spreading hate and being divisive.
That seems to be generally accepted.
MSNBC, et al, is somehow viewed as being more objective.
    Seriously?!?!?!?!?

the media is going to be all over this guy for the next 4 years. as much as i don't like trump, i'm not interested in watching media that reinforces my dislike for the guy.  unfortunately, there aren't many objective media sources left.

It was a speech born out of anger, hatred and resentment, all negative emotions. Populistic and bombastic. America First or Deutschland Uber Alles, it sure bore more than one resemblance with uncie Adolf's speeches. But you thought it was fantastic. No shiit.

It was a speech born out of anger, hatred and resentment, all negative emotions. Populistic and bombastic. America First or Deutschland Uber Alles, it sure bore more than one resemblance with uncie Adolf's speeches. But you thought it was fantastic. No shiit.

CD, I don't care for Trump "the person" but I am rooting for Trump "the President".

It's easy to dislike Trump, he has made it so.
President Trump is a new born. I don't have to like the individual, he just needs to do his job well.

As you said, objective media is almost non-existant, which should be a concern for all of us.
This is why I tend to balance my information outlets to a bunch of them.

Yesterday I watched MSNBC during the inauguration.
I taped FOXNews and watched some of that this morning.

Just as FOXNews has personalities that are more conservative than others, MSNBC has personalities that are more liberal than others.
One thing is certain, the more conservative/liberal a person is, the more irrational they are.

Unfortunately, moderates are boring, and don't generate strong reactions.
    Strong reactions = ratings.
    Ratings = money.

yeah, i'm limited to bllomberg in the morning and then trying to parse through what makes sense on google news and the internet.  it shouldn't be this difficult.

maybe i'll just take what HJS says on the one hand and ganda on the other and try to find the mid-point.

Yes, a splendid idea ... me, you, and Gandhi meeting in the middle!!!

Although I would not turn my back to Gandhi, because he would either put a knife in my back or his penis in my butt
