So I'm coming home from a friend's house playing blackjack and I park my car. I get out, throw a few things in the dumpster (unfortunately I live in an apartment complex) , and notice two women heading in my direction. They come closer and then I realize who they are. The one, we'll just call her Lisa, proceeds to tell me that they went out drinking and later she found a dead cat on the side of the road. She took it because she wanted to give it a proper burial.
She then knocks on her friend's door (some dude she knows) at 2:30 in the morning and asks him to help her bury this cat. He tells her no. She lost her husband about a year ago. She's 44. He was a cop and one day she found her husband lying on the kitchen floor dead. Heart attack I believe. He was about 40 or so. Then she expresses how crazy she sounds and her girlfriend says, "No... Mike understands... he completely knows what's goin on." I took that as a huge compliment. She was reassuring her friend and saying, "Mike is deep. He completely understands."
I don't know if I'm "deep" but whatever. So the three of us go behind this garage. It's fairly well lit back there. There's an outdoor table, some chairs, and an enclosed unit to throw wood in and make a fire. It's about 3:30 AM or so.
Next thing I know the three of us are sitting indian style holding hands and Jamie (not her real name) starts singing in this absolutely beautiful voice and then she starts talking about the loved ones we've lost and how they are always with us. She's actually very sexy and looks like Sarah Jessica Parker a little bit. About 7 years ago she hit on me in a sports bar but that's another story.
So we're sitting there and I'm thinking how cool it is being there at that moment listening to her voice and how beautiful it is. And I'm thinking of how cool it is that she is that spiritual. Call me crazy... whatever... but I was completely diggin it.
So we sat there and had some wine and talked about whatever the fück we felt like talking about. Past relationships, life, death, alcohol, drugs... I brought up the elephant poachers and how much it sickens me... I asked them if they wanted to smoke, but they both politely declined. Jamie told me it should be legalized though.
So that's the story. No climactic ending. We sat there drinking and bullshîtting at 3:30 in the morning on a concrete parking lot and none of us were worried about bringing up ANY topic of discussion. It was actually pretty fückin cool. Lisa and I didn't know each other that well at all. But now we know each other a little better. And I had no idea how cool Jamie is. I'm gonna introduce her to some really good bud sometime. She says she doesn't like feeling tired, but I can give her some bud (if she wants to try it) and it'll completely change her mind. She'll love it. She teaches yoga too. If I wasn't happily married I'd snag her in a minute. Very cool, intelligent, beautiful woman.
