A couple more notes after seeing the movie the second time:
(1) I hate John Blake going by the name Robin! Absolutely hate it! If he is going to be the new Batman like Batman Beyond or Nightwing why use the name Robin? Dick Grayson was slightly introduced during one of the prior movies (I cannot remember which) and it just annoys the $hit out of me. My guess is that is Nolan's exact intent to say F U I can do with this story as I wish.
(2) Not a big fan of how they killed off Bane. Truely thought he deserved something less anti-climatic than a missle from the BAT! I loved his character (especially voice) but apparently he is just a big pu$$y. I refuse to believe that is the case. Loved the twist with Tantia Al Guel but I doubt he is mearly a puppet to her will.
(3) I am convinced that Bruce Wayne did die at the end. The first time I saw it I took the story line literally but now after watching it again I am convinced that Alfred's toast to Bruce Wayne and Selena Kyle in Florence was merely his wishful thinking as he indicated to Bruce Wayne in the Batcave. I took his dispair over Bruce Wayne's death at the funeral as genuine and if it was staged I would think that he would have a better reaction to seeing Bruce Wayne at the cafe. Further, unless Bruce Wayne set autopilot right away he would have never survived the blast radius. I think that John Blake "aka Robin" is going to be the new Batman and that is why Batman (Bruce Wayne Batman) said to Blake that he needs to wear a mask and also why the Batman spotlight was repaired.
Just my thoughts. Great movie for Batman fans and just all people who like action flicks. Don't get the chick flick reference either. Both my wife and daughter feel a sleep during the movie.
One last note: actually thought that the woman who played Miranda was hotter than Catwoman but both were good to look at.

I think you're wrong about Bruce being dead. I saw this movie twice and I caught on to something the second time. At the end of the movie you had Gordon see the bat signal being fixed...Alfred seeing Bruce and Kyle...and Fox asking the mechanics if there was anything that could be fixed. When he asked that...they said it was fixed 6 months ago by Bruce Wayne. What I got out of that was that Bruce fixed the auto-pilot that was talked about numerous times in the movie and that he wasn't in that machine that took the bomb over the water.
I could be wrong...but that's what took from that little scene. I assume he was talking about the auto-pilot as he thought after the fact that it would have saved Bruce's life.

- Think how many times the word auto-pilot was used.
- He was just betrayed to Tatiana, therefore Selina is the woman he chose.
- He had several talks in the pit of hell with the old guys that he wanted to survive.

When he asked that...they said it was fixed 6 months ago by Bruce Wayne. What I got out of that was that Bruce fixed the auto-pilot that was talked about numerous times in the movie and that he wasn't in that machine that took the bomb over the water.

clearly see Batman sitting in the driver's seat, with 5 seconds left to
go on the bomb's clock before it sets off. If he in fact managed to get
out of there so fast, how did he escape the bomb radius? And how the
hell could he swim back? And while I know Nolan is allowed creative
license and a serene spot for dear old Alfred to visit, doesn't it seem
bizarrely coincidental that he'd see Bruce and Selina in the one place
he'd imagined-- as the very smart Dave Lozo pointed out, is there just one cafe in Paris?
I'm not saying the ending presented to us cannot be true. I'm just
saying it's not as simple as it might seem, and I don't think I'm the
only one who walked out of the theater saying "Wait, is Bruce Wayne
actually dead?" before being mocked by friends who took what Alfred saw
at face value. Remember how much the spinning top in Inception
drove us crazy for months? I'm confident Nolan was at least going for
some dose of that confusion-- something to keep you talking and arguing
as you leave the theater.

Let me start off by saying that I loved this movie, but The Dark Knight was better. As far as the ending goes, I believe he was alive at the end...it just makes much more sense, and it is really a perfect ending to the movie. I just think that when you incorporate the autopilot, as well as the program to erase your identity, it doesn't really make sense that the ending wasn't real. I think Nolan wanted this twist, but not for it to be like Inception's.
Another gripe I had with the movie was the Bane/Miranda storyline. Honestly, I felt like you could've just thrown out the whole Miranda character, and it really wouldn't have changed much at all. There was already so much going on in the movie...on top of that, Bane goes out like that??? I felt like his character really deserved a lot better. Overall, he was a great villain. I just hated how once you finally heard his story at the end, he dies 1 minute later, and it was really anti-climatic. (And I felt the same with with how Miranda died in the car crash)
Also, it really seemed like there were some pointless characters to me, like the one cop that died at the end of the movie. I understand what he was supposed to represent, but I really couldn't of cared less about him and was glad he died. Overall, I loved the movie, but I just don't think it was as good as the potential that it had
