I'd like to see a horse racing contest where you'd get a bankroll & make wagers every race on the card & the person with the most money at the end of the night is the winner...I'd like to see either Woodbine-Mohawk Park or The Meadowlands as maybe the tracks you could use for standardbred racing..would be interesting to see Covers coming up with a contest like this since we've never had a sport to wager on like this...

Weighted of the your horse you state is 1st comes in 1- 5 2 -4 3 -3 4- 2 5- 1, the horse you have for 2nd the first would not be credited but 2-4 3-3 4-2 5 -1 thirs place couldn't be top points but 3-3 4-2 5-1, 4th order 4 -2 4-1, 5th can receive 1 points, the horses could be credited for higher finish but only recieve points for the lower placement so if tour 3 horse wins then you can only recieve 3 points for that pick. As if you bet it in the show pool....
The pick 5 in the derby pays stacka and gamblers could handicap real action in the exotic pools exactta trifecta super facts pick 3 races adding depth, pick 4 pick 6 on the card picking 4 or 5 in the derby race adds depth to tickets

Do the derby like they did it a couple years ago, but I would also add some racing during the year. I would do the Derby, Preakness, and Belmont as day events (contests) and combine them for a contest. Then I think I would do a weekly race until the Breeders Cup and then make a contest out of the Breeders Cup. Want more?

Its that time of year again. Welcome to the 12th Derby pool. Horses and amounts below.
The rules are, each person has $10 to play. You will pick $10 worth of horses. You cannot go over. Most points wins. Tiebreaker determination is the best positions based on all the horses chosen. In case of exact horses by two or more participants, it will be a draw. Points are 4 for the winning horse, 3 for second, 2 for third, and 1 for fourth.
In case of scratch, you may choose another no later than 6 P.M. on Friday.
In honor of our 12th year, Colin has put together an amazing prize package. The first place winner will get a swag pack, consisting of covers hoodie, hat, travel mug, and money clip. The second place will get to choose between a hoodie and a hat, and the 3rd place winner gets the remainder.
Its Derby Fever!
This is how we did it then, I got the person's name, it says Colin here but I remember something like dibrow for a name (unless there the same) and date if you need it. I won never got the mug or money clip asked for a XL and got a MED :) so make sure the person gets the prize.
But I would do the big 3 and make the combo of the 3 a bigger winner and then do a Saturday race every week say for a hoodie or hat and then I'm sure we can come up with something for the breeder's cup.
What's the AMA with the Experts? and how would you do a poker contest or would we be playing each other somehow?

how about a bracket contest for baseball where contestants have a week , 7 days and make 1 play per day. let the contestant pick his/her own games no matter wht it is.
Only thing is player props could be overwhelming so maybe just ML, RL,1ST 5 AND FG...TOTALS 1ST 5 AND FG.
at the end of the week you take like a round of the 32 best records OR MORE OF A FIELD then list them like a regular bracket based on record against an opponent and winner moves on.
if both players win their picks then the bracket is on hold til round of 16 is determined.
it's something different than the same old stuff weve been doing

I think djbrow is working with Flynt to cook something up for you guys around the Triple Crown.
AMA with the Experts would be a "Ask Me Anything" (within reason) thread with known Covers community experts.
As for poker, we could see about setting up games for members to play against one another and offer prizes for finishing in the top spots of a tournament.
Thanks to everyone for all your ideas! Some really great ones. I'm going to finalize this survey, and will do the merch draw from participants in both threads tomorrow.
