I think "be careful what you wish for" has never been more applicable. Sure it makes betting more convenient and legit so you don't have to fly to LV or worry about a local stiffing you but the negatives will outweigh the positives...
1. Legalized betting WILL be tightly regulated and HIGHLY taxed. I wouldn't be surprised if 20% juice will be strictly enforced on any straight wager. States + Fed government need their cut and 10% won't cut it, especially since there is chance of losing months (i.e this past Sept when books has a historically bad month with overwhelming amounts of Favs covering)
2. Increased scrutiny from the IRS.
3. Implosion of touts and annoying advertisements. You think DK/FD ads are bad wait til legalization when every other radio ad and internet ad will be a tout selling picks or a system.
We'll see what happens. Sure it will be great if you are a bar owner/Pro Sports team owner, Executive of a Sportsbook/casino, but for us (current sportsbettors) I don't see legalization doing us any big favors.

Someone with a mind! Great points Michfan.
Best of luck this week

I don't care for Michigan fans too much, but you hit the nail on the head. Underworld sportsbetting is SO MUCH better than any legalized sportsbetting. On the other hand, I think you will always be able to get down with a local book working in cash to avoid the mess. Look at pot... yes it is legal in a few states, and the underground dealers are doing better than ever in those states.

This State of New York injunction against FD and DK is going to expedite the whole process.
It is all coming to a head.
I cant see a way that DFS can be legal while sports gambling wouldnt be. Once it shakes out in the legal and political process - which will be soon - the dominos could fall quickly.
Support your local animal shelter. I am on twitter.

If the daily fantasy is legal so should sports betting and poker,,, daily is the easiest to fix a player to let another player catch a few more passes, then throw the whole game,, if anything Fantasy is the most luck involved to win anyway, not only do u have to pick x amount of players under a weird sale Ray cap but all those said players and one whole defense has to play exceptional to win ,the players against the ones u picked have to not play well to get your pick his stats. ,way more luck then handicapping a game on points lines or money lines, and way more luck than Poker

Good point, as you are more than aware of; both Fan Duel, and DraftKings were recently 'banned' in the state of New York, coinciding with 18 other states and counting...

They weren't banned effective immediately like Nevada did. NYS giving FD/DK 4-5 days to respond, you can still sign up for a contest tonight (i live in NY). That said, Vanzack is prob right, this will expedite the inevitable legalization of gambling. FD/DK will most likely need to obtain gaming licenses and that will get the momentum going.
