I already told him I was giving him his money back... that's without question. Problem is, I gave him the guys number and not sure if he has contacted him yet... but the guy isn't going to answer calls/texts etc from the book because he feels he is being threatened... somits either I am still involved for communication and collecting the monthly payment or he ends up showing up at my company. It's a very good company and I can't have this happen. I don't know. It's all a mess. Thanks for all you help guys

I actually had a very similar situation to you about 15 years ago. I had a local book here in Chicago for a number of years and I worked at a hedge fund where my co-worker comes into the picture. He is an east coast kid that played some college football at Cornell. Pretty big dude but a total wuss. He knew I had a local and wanted to lay his action down. He was betting $500 a game at 22 years old and I didn't want to book it myself so I introduced him to my local. He immediately was losing left and right but making his payments week over week which ranged from $1,000 - $3,500. Then comes the NFL playoffs and I get this call from my local and he says my guy is trying to lay down a $10,000 bet on the Tennessee Titans. He asked me if I think he was good for it and I said I don't know but I advise you not to take the play. Long story short, he ends the weekend down $40,000. He approaches me at work, white as a ghost and tells me he can't pay. My local calls me screaming bloody murder that he was my guy and that I vouched for him etc. He goes on and on that I owe what he can't pay and to the point that he threatens me. I flat out told him that not only did they already make over $20k on him, I didn't see a penny for the referral and I told him not to take his larger wagers. I said threaten me again and I call the cops. Mind you this is a large operation with hundreds of clients.
My co-worker ends up paying $20,000 up front and a payment plan of $5,000 a month until paid off. The book also came to his apartment and took his TV, bed, clothes, literally everything he owned. At the end my co-worker cleared out his trust fund of $60k and had to bum money off his sister. He ended up leaving Chicago and moving back out east. Before he left he told me that he wished that he never met me. As if any of it was my fault.

great you took care of it. as long as you make the payments in the arrangement. bookies wont go collecting. as far as your boss, just do not enter into wagers for or with him. Do not get in the middle unless it is all cash up front transaction.
