Paper money is slowly on the way out. A proposal has already been made to do away with the One Dollar Bill and make a one dollar coin. But larger than the Susan B Anthony dollar was, this will save millions.
And we don't need the 100 dollar bill anymore either. Just as they eliminated the 500 and 1000 dollar Bill years ago. This would help control the Big drug pushers. They cannot charge that much on a credit card. Yes, they may steal them, but they are traceable.

I agree with Club, I buy with a credit card to save points, which are even redeemable for cash. I get 300.00 cash free every year. But you must pay off your bill in full every month. If you don't that discipline, forget it.

I make sure to pay cash at the gas station. Use a debit card, they charge you .35 cents to use the card, then another ten cents a gallon. I know it's not much, but the more people don't care, that's when they raise it to .50 for the card, and .25 more per gallon.................

Me and a buddy came home from deer hunting (back in grad school....long time ago). We noticed his place had been broken into (noticed the computer gone when we went in the back entrance). We went out and got our rifles.....went into the house (idiot thing to do.....know that now). He had a bunch of stuff stolen and the freezer was open with some frozen items strewn all over on the floor). We pretty much walked in on the burglars. Lucky we didn't get killed.

I made a purchase with each one, paid 'em all off the next month, and destroyed the cards. I think I saved about $250.
I've bought the following items "no interest" and taken a "loan" out on each (paid it off the last month before the interest kicked in:
Car (72 month loan...one year left to pay and only has 55K miles)
3 TV's
Lasik surgery
Select Comfort bed
Furniture
About $45K worth of stuff....all no interest.
If they are going to let me keep my money for 6 to 18 months, I'll gladly do it.

I always carry at least 60 and try to have small bills in the mix too. I use a card most the time but there are instances, tipping people, older vending machines, where you gotta have it. It seems like the responsible thing to do to have some cash just in case.

The counterfeiting is so much easier today with the new printers, which has forced the government into making newer currency every few years, costing billions of dollars.

Yes they can be. I have a friend that I love like a brother, but man is he a moocher. I have to constantly remind him of what he owes me. He always pays though.
I rarely carry cash because I'll lose it. I use debit cards for all my transactions. I don't borrow money, so I never need cash.
