It can't make you schizophrenic, but it studies have shown that it may excaberbate schizophrenia if you have had this condition in your medical history. I've never heard anywhere that it can cause depression. Also, there is nothing that CAN'T cause problems later in life if you abuse it.
Not trying to get in a pissing match with you, but I believe your entire post is inaccurate.

drunk posting about the value of medicinal marijuana without any facts to back it up lol? They've managed to avoid any real studies the past 50 years ooooooh sounds like a conspiracy theory to keep everyone from smoking. Those damn conservatives

Serious man? my point was I've smoked alot of weed so I know the affects of it and its not a painkiller and doesn't cure anything so how does it help people with cancer? Its a cop out. If it was that invaluable as a medicine don't you think it would be legal as a medicine Sweet if they have cancer and wanna get fucked up and take there mind of dying thats fine but thats not real medicinal value. Maybe you need to lay off smoking so much

it just depends on your definition of medicinal value. Psychologically yes but physically ehh I've yet to be convinced. What incentive does the government have to stop people from smoking weed if it was really proven to help and why would they avoid researching it?

and there's a difference between being unsympathetic and being a realist. Everyone has known people who have or personally been affected by cancer and other serious illnesses I just don't think marijuana is necessarilly the solution

You already said that lol. People usually resort to personal attacks when they have no real insight and feel cornered. more power to you buddy, but it doesn't lend any credibility to your point if you actually have one. So far the only thing that you've said that remotely resembles one is that it "helps" with nausea. If you really believe there haven't been any studies or research in the past 60 years on marijuana maybe I'm not the naive one. Just saying.... talk to me when you've sobered up

Unsympathetic???? I never said people with cancer shouldnt be able to smoke weed if they want to, or that people going through cancer aren't experiencing a very tough potentially deadly thing. My point was simply that I'm skeptical of the true value of marijuana as a medicine, and the reason there isn't more hard evidence supporting it isn't because of a conspiracy to keep people in the dark about the wonder drug marijuana, or lack of research maybe its just more of a psychological thing and there isnt that much actual scientific/medicinal value

You can say that about anything. Weed does not make someone "unsuccessful" or lazy. But if that's all you do, then yes, of course it will make you less productive. Lack of excercise can also have the same effect. Poor diet. Drinking. Smoking cigarettes. Gambling. Playing video games. And all of these are legal!
Millions of people smoke pot and lead productive lives. I do. My friends do. Look at all the actors, musicians, writers, singers, etc. that smoke it. And they make millions. Some strains of weed make you lazy at the time. But many of us are just lazy in general. I often become very productive when I smoke. Lazy people that smoke weed are going to be lazy. People that aren't lazy wont become lazy all the time if they smoke on a daily or weekly basis. It just doesn't happen.
So really, in essence, you can't really say it's a negative that should be associated with it. Because the abuse of anything makes you counter productive.
Consider this too. How many people are lazy with hangovers from drinking and, for the most part, get nothing done when hungover? The lettuce doesn't give you hangovers. I think if you'd compare the two, alcohol probably creates more inactivity in a person than weed does.

There are many people making a lot of money from enforcing the laws against it. This goes way deeper than probably any of us realize. The pharmacuticals would lose money. The breweries would lose money. Lots of powerful wealthy people would not be happy. And when people lose hundreds of millions, it trickles downhill to the people wanting votes. I've just touched on a couple industries that would lose billions.
I really don't know why it's illegal. But the possibilities above are certainly certainly worth consideration.

Def good points but law enforcement will always have plenty of laws to enforce and people who want to smoke instead of drinkng will regardless of whether its legal or not. just playing the devils advocate. sorry to anyone I offended my opinion wasnt meant to

No offense taken. I enjoy debates/discussions. We're all adults.
Imagine too the hundreds of millions that could be generated via taxes that we could funnel into our education systems or feeding hungry children in our country. Not to mention the jobs it could create. We're talking about possibly billions of dollars for our country that we could desperately use.
