We have 40 mph winds right now & there's a quiet eeriness outside. I'm in SE Florida & it looks like the west coast will catch the brunt of this storm.

Our moron Governor is giving the same freaking speech he gave yesterday on TV now. He's a crook & a phony.

Free parking in downtown Ft. Lauderdale city parking lot was announced & a local car dealership moved 40 of his cars there taking away spots from the general public. This dude won't sell another car in South Florida, The city ticketed all 40 cars.

Each part of this country has some kind of risk with other natural disasters. At least the folks down there have enough time to prepare for it unlike our countrymen living in Tornado Alley, or the folks on the Left Coast living on the Fault line.

Just be blessed that a storm of this magnitude doesn't occur more often. It's been about 25 years since South Florida had a storm this powerful with Andrew.

Be safe to all of those in FL and GA and hopefully everyone down there is prepared.

I don't know about that, but the L!beral d!cksucks reporting on every storm are known for hyperbole and to instill as much fear as they can.

Any rational person that has knowledge of these storms know how potentially destructive and threatening it can be. Boy Scouts motto applies here.

I'll take my Nor'Easters every year over these sh!tstorms every 20.

Just relax folks....nothing to fear. The Clinton Foundation is already starting a fundraiser for the victims, and they are only going to take 97 percent of the money raised for administrative costs.

Now we just need to double everyone's taxes, so we can give democrats trillions of dollars to fix the climate.

Over a million without power. A crane on a construction site on Brickell Avenue is now hanging from the roof. Many boats already have sunk in the various marinas.

Some knuckleheads have been seen jogging but now with high tide coming at 1 pm that won't be possible.

WSVN Channel 7 is the most experienced station to get details of the storm. The other stations have these good looking young chicks that have never been through something like this. One was asked if the rain was coming form the east & all she could say was "it's coming from my left, my left & it hurts."

I'm lucky to still have power but winds are going to be persistent @ 80 to 100 mph for the next 10 hours.

Biggest surprise of all is that my DISH service is still active. It normally goes out of service when it drizzles.

Irma is coming to hit and it appears that west coast of Florida will get the heavy dose of wind and flood than east coast. Be prepared and best of luck.

I think the experts missed it by a mile on this in terms of the storm surges expected, but it's probably a good thing that so many evacuated. Will make the extensive work that does need to be done that much easier.

That said, because the experts missed it by quite a bit on this one, I bet more people are likely to dismiss stern warnings next time around. People are stubborn.

GF parents live in Bonita Springs. They were evacuated to some minor league stadium. Morons were so slow processing people they were made to wait over 4 hours standing outside in the heat. Yeah, her mother didn't make it inside betore she passed out in the sweltering parking lot. Rushed to the hospital and luckily she passed out due to dehyration. A good samaratin who was at the hospital and was going to work at the arena took her thru a back door so it wouldnt happen again.

Great F'in plan. Evacuate old people and make them stand in a sweltering parking lot. Idiots!

Just got power back today at noon. We were very very lucky unlike fellow Floridians in the Keys. Got plenty of stories to share as well as a nightmare story dealing with Sprint.

Headed to Publix for some cold Heineken & some steaks. Thanks for the kind wishes.

Capping football & ponies were the farthest thing from my mind. I never thought that was capable. could ever happen for such an extended period of time.

During a disaster like this you learn which corporations are nimble enough to assist & others that just don't care. It's something I'll never forget & I'll share these experiences once I get my head straight again.

Autoline LLC was the scumbag car dealership that parked 40 of their cars in a city of Hollywood parking lot designed for residents to protect their vehicles during the storm. The city has levied fines & their PR problem will be eliminated when they change their company name & crawl back under another rock in another town.

Here's an example of the pompous attitude of FPL (Florida Power & Light). Prior to the storm they encouraged customers to use their website to report outages, get updates for repair dates/times & other storm related information. Well of course the # of inquiries crashed their website & if you were able to access the website, you got the message that repair trucks were in route to your location. That same message has been up on there website for the past 5 days. A spokesman for FPL (I wish I had got his name & title) came on the radio to tell customers to stop using the website & to stop calling FPL because We know You don't have service. He didn't tell us when the website would be fixed or another avenue to get updates. He was actually blaming customers for crashing their website!

We had a power pole come down on our block & the transformer came crashing to the ground. On Monday morning we were ecstatic to see 3 trucks & 9 FPL workers at the end of our block. So I walked down the street with a neighbor to thank them for coming to help. Then we found out the real deal.

The 3 trucks contained 3 different FPL departments: the power pole, the wiring & transformer groups & remember 9 workers. They were there to ascertain the damage not so start work fixing the problem.

I asked them a simple question. "Why did FPL send 3 separate trucks from 3 different departments instead of 1 truck with 1 member from each department on the truck?" This would have allowed 2 other teams to visit other areas of the city to ascertain damage & triple their efforts. No one could or would answer our question. We walked back down the street & by the time we reached our homes, all 3 trucks were gone.

I wasn't mad at the dudes who showed up. I was mad that FPL management would use their resources so poorly.

Ice is golden. Even when stored in coolers it melts amazingly fast. You can never get enough of it.

The first report of looters was Saturday night when the storm was just arriving. Any guess what type of store was first looted?

Simon's Footwear in Sunrise Florida had freaking sneakers stolen.

Kudos to Publix Supermarkets for staying open late & opening up asap after the storm. No wonder they are rated the 2nd best to Wegman's in the country.

Kudos to CVS for giving away free water to customers after the storm.

Kudos to our local police department that worked extra shifts to maintain the curfew & security of our homes.

Residents of Key Largo were enticed to evacuate by their city commission when promised that a "residents pass" would allow them access back into the town after the storm with no red tape attached.

That was a bold face lie! This "residents pass" was/is absolutely worthless. They were not allowed back into to salvage what was left of their homes & possessions.

This is absolutely outrageous.

My updates are minor annoyances compared to what people in the Keys are experiencing. I know some are asking "why didn't they leave like others?" Well I would imagine you may have never been to the Keys & met these folks. They dance to a different drum beat that most of society & that is just one of the reasons why these Americans are so special. They are some of the most kind hearted people I have ever met who welcome all people from anywhere. Help them if you can.
