As a Canadian, I am finding it seems like an obscene gesture to say Merry Christmas anymore. I have nothing but respect to people who have immigrated to this country, as well as their respective traditions/cultures.
Here is my concern,.It's as though we are sweeping our traditions under the rug ( those who celebrate Christian holidays). There are "holiday trees" in gov't buildings, decorations and celebrations in schools are toned down and kids are not able to sing Christmas songs etc.....
I am by no means racist, far from it, but I do believe that we shouldn't have to hide our traditions/religions at others expense. I think we worry too much about offending others and we, and our children lose out.
Anyways, just wondering how our neighbors to the south feel about this. Do you notice this happening or is it just me?
