There is only one called The Boss and there are many reasons for that name but he is The Boss and the one and only. If you have never been to a concert, do yourself a favor and see the greatest there ever was or will be before he or you is gone.
Never saw Plant when he was younger as an old guy, he sucked though.
Jagger belongs here as does Mercury, both epic performers.
Hate DLR, total dog

Freddy Mercury has to be on the Mount Rushmore, with David Lee Roth just missing the cut.....
Those 2 on top, for sure, honorable mention to:
Roger Daltrey
Steven Tyler
David Bowie maybe?
But Springsteen -
To me he's like Bono - they might be great "showmen" in concert, but neither of them are great singers like all the other names mentioned in here. Good thread.

I don't know what it is,but the older I get the more I can't stand Robert Plant's voice. You could've put a howlin monkey in front of that band and it would still sound good. Dude was really into wizardry too.
Get down James Brown! The ultimate showman.

Lots of good choices from you guys. Have to go with the Boss because of his concerts (been to several). He normally plays for four hours or more. Close second is Steve Tyler. They put on a great show.

Maynard James Keenan, front man for Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.
Not a big Queen fan, but Freddy's performance at Wembley Stadium during the Live Aid concert is amazing and in my opinion was the best one of the whole event..

I saw him in the early 80's when Rainbow headlined an outdoor concert with The Scorpions and Riot (not to be confused with Quiet Riot). A truly great and underrated vocalist but not much of a showman. He just stuck to the script that Blackmore gave him. Good out of the box answer though.
I remember they opened with this number:
