Bachelor Party Advice

My best friend is getting married in September, and as his best man I have to plan the bachelor party.  We have a group of 10-15 going to Atlantic City for a long weekend, at some point this summer.  I have never been to AC, and have no clue about where to stay and what to do outside of the given drinking and gambling.  Any ideas or advice is greatly appreciated.

whats the budget? or range... and make sure to go over it. 

what ages are predominantly going? that helps to know.

Ive done a few bachelor parties in AC..and all have varied.

You will have the summer on your side, assuming you do this late august or even early september so the boardwalk is an option for something.

Id do a good dinner...there are a ton of solid restaurants out there, just make sure you book ahead of time. Good steakhouses and italian places that you can do.

There are some strip clubs if you fancy that and there are a ton of clubs if you are in that mood as well. Chances are Friday will be more low key than Saturday since you are coming from NY and if most of the people are from your area, you probably have at least a 2 hr drive, maybe more. People will probably do a share of gambling Friday night.

You can also get strippers to the room, but that might be harder to handle. Outside of what I said, not a ton else really. You could always swing over to Philly for a baseball game?

Budget isn't really a concern at this point.  We won't be the highest of rollers, but aren't exactly scraping by either.  I'm looking to book 4-5 rooms, for 2 nights.  I'm going to do this right, and the budget isn't a top priority.

Most of us are 27-35.  The groom is 30, and his father will be there as well.  Everyone in attendance will be drinkers, so I won't have to schedule anything we can do sober.  We will be taking Friday off, so we should arrive mid to late afternoon.

  A nice dinner on Friday sounds perfect.  Do you recommend any steak houses in particular?  Do you recommend any particular hotels?

Borgata is the best hotel. I would anchor there.The quality of woman at the strips clubs are not that great.You can check it out though.Ask any bartender in the hotel I think its called crazy horse.Tropicana a young crowd also has action.Everything is close by so you can always grab a cab.Concierge at the hotel can also give you ideas.You might want to have some girls come to the hotel and give your friend a nice show.Just google escorts in atlantic city and tell them your having a bachelor party.

Definitely stay at Borgata.  Water club rooms are a bit nicer but standard rooms/suites are definitely nicer than anything else in AC.  Club in borgata is nice or indoor pool at harrahs has a decent crowd in the evenings when it turns in to a nice party area. Enjoy!

Thanks ilprato.  Borgata looks to be what I am looking for.  I will definitely book a couple escorts for a private show.  Should be a wild weekend.  Appreciate the help.

Borgata is the priciest joint, but since you've never been, i just want to point out that Borgata is at the Marina, so you are in a different world from the boardwalk,,,,,which is probably a good thing, because that place has devolved to such a hell hole, and it gets worst by the month, so this summer will reach a new height for shitholeness of AC

Harrahs at the Marina is next door to Borgata, very nice also.  When i'm on the boards, i like to play at Tropicana, because that's where the 'younger' crowd concentrates (they have the spot for the clubs)

You said you plan to get 4-5 rooms. Have you looked into just getting a suite? They are on a different level nice. The beach sucks in AC, so unless the groom is hellbent on the beach, stay over near the marina. If he's all about getting swimming, sell him on Harrahs Marina, they have a cool pool atmosphere.

There is a brand new casino opening on the boards, called Revel. supposed to open this spring, look into that, i'm sure at the time it will be the spot to be at

Personally, i think your selection of places to eat down there sucks. I love the "White House" sub shop, walking distance from the boards, it's the historic corner shoppe that has all the neat old pics of all the super stars that have been thru, and their subs are friggin killer

If it was me, i would rent a condo outside of the casinos, we did that for a bachelor party, and it worked out very well for us. you have to taxi cab around then, but AC taxi service works fine, if you are cheap, the Shitney is always on time as well

Thanks be easy.  Good point regarding the suite.  I didn't even think about booking a suite, but I will definitely take a look.  I assumed we couldn't cram 10-15 in just one, but I will check it out.  Might need 2 suites.

I don't think the groom is overly concerned with the beach.  We are just looking to get out of town, away from our ladies, and have a good time.  The pool atmosphere sounds up our alley for Saturday during the day. 

I have heard about the overall decline in AC, and the dangers that go along with it.  Safety is definitely a priority.  Appreciate your help, and I will be looking into Harrah's tomorrow.  Any idea how far in advance I need to book a suite, or a section of rooms?

if you guys are golfers, AC has a few nice courses, play a round in the afternoon, nice dinner, hit a club or two, go-go bar if you're into that, then hit the tables.

The entire group are golfers, some a bit more serious than others, but we all play nonetheless.  Any recommendations for courses?

Borgata is by far the best in town but Revel opens April 2 and will be just as sweet. Both places will cost you $350/night. The Taj isnt bad, big poker room, right on the boards, plus they are opening a Scores inside there this July, sure they will have the best looking strippers in AC. If you stay on the boards I recommend spedning a few hours at the Irish Pub on St. James Place, best old fashioned irish bar in town. There is a Ruths Cris steakhouse near Caesars. Speaking of Caesars, rooms are $100 or more cheaper than Borgata, plus they have a place called Dusk which is a club at the edge of the casino floor and they have a bunch of gambling tables with dealertainers, which are hot young women dressed in tiny outfits working as dealers. Fun stuff. Tropicana has sme good restaurants like PF Changes and Carmines, both are excellent and good for large groups.

If I was only in AC for one night and never leaving the casino then I would stay at Borgata. If you are going for multiple nights I would stay on the strip at Caesars or Tropicana, its a good base to work from on all the things to do in town. Plkus all the boardwalk casinos have beach bars that are pretty happening on Fridays and Saturdays.

Just read that Tropicana will give you your own dealer for a fee and normal rake but you could play a single table sit n go or a good ole cash game for an hour or two with friends.  I imagine any casino would be happy to set up something like that.

Would you say dusk is the best nightclub down there?  Also, do you know what type of music they play?  Have you heard about a club at showboat? 

Borgata is the nicest yes, but there standard rooms are not. Not that TV's are really part of your trip, but the standard rooms dont even have flat screens. You can stay in the Waterfront tower in Harrahs for probably the same price that you can in the regular rooms at the Borgata, and Id pick that over the Borgata's standard.

Being off the strip isnt a bad idea. Its a 5-10 min cab ride into the spots assuming you make your way there. I usually stay at the Borgata or Harrahs, but dont stay in the regular rooms if possible. Waterfront tower in Harrahs or Water club in Borgata, or at least the corner suites in Borgata.

The Palm is a pretty decent steakhouse inside the Trop. Ive had a decent meal there. Also, there is a steak joint (name is slipping by), although I think it is called "The Steakhouse" was solid as well.

Golf is doable, but just remember that if you have guys who are all about getting wasted and such, you dont want to miss tee times and all that.

AC bachelor parties are always fun. Gambling, girls, drinking, its all there. And agreed, most of the chicks at the strip clubs down there are pretty gross. Make sure you hire before hand chicks if you are doing that strip sorta thing or whatever it is you wanna do!

Golf might not be a bad idea Saturday, since everyone should be in town Friday early evening. Id do the dinner Saturday...but really either would work...Saturday could get busy if you do golf and all that...people might want to rest up for the nights festivities.

Scratch it..id do something like this...

Friday afternoon: Arrive, check in, hang out, gamble
Friday evening: Eat, drink, gamble, play "hey I havent seen you in a while and catch up" maybe go to a club where you are or something
Saturday late morning: Golf
Saturday afternoon: get back, relax, eat etc
Saturday evening: Dinner
Saturday night: chicks, drinks, club, gamble whatever
Sunday: be hungover and hate your drive home

Friday evening where it says "eat" should be your "dinner" thing at a steakhouse...gives something "big" for the night
