been always thinking about it. im only 23.. just wanted to see if its possible. heard it can be very hard to gain residency. and how the experience?

Join the French Foreign Legion ...after 5 years service you can be a french citizen or dual ...Up to you...After 15 years of service gets you a pension.You get awesome military training  and get to kill all over the world..

ask yourself some questions

1) why do u want to move

2) where are u going and will u be there in 5 years

3) the biggest thing for americans not going to england or ireland, how quickly can you learn a foreign language, you won't get by in continental europe speaking english

Europe is a cesspool based on socialism concept, with the highest tax structures on the planet, opportunities for Americans are limited, and non-existent in some countries, If you are not fluent in the country of choice, forget about it; I think you should do a little research other than asking information on a gambling site, if your whim turns into a reality, you'll regret the day you got on a plane, and landed in what many Americans now consider a 'hostile environment' you see, it's the Europeans that come to the USA to virtually 'escape' what you intend on walking into..

England takes 38% out of your paycheck in taxation, 40% in Ireland, un-employement is double that in comparison to the U.S. there are more doctors in America from Europe, than their are doctors in europe, if that makes any sense to you

It's the best country in the world and everyone wants to move here for a reason. BECAUSE IT'S THE BEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!

as an insight to documented migration of the European medical profession's flight to the usa on behalf of financial opportunity, that is not possible under their current countries taxation standards. my figures are correct, and updated, as is my commentary, I suggest before you simply refer to a statement as 'incorrect' you get off your lazy azz, and do some research to prove them to be not accurate..or if this is too complex for you, simply google taxation in Ireland, taxation in England, 2014 AMA report on medical migration from europe to america, get it? that's what I did, so now consider yourself educate, and your curiosity supplemented.......

well, when I lived there, I was in well paid employment and never paid that rate of tax.

you're clearly one of those clowns who mention terms like socialism without knowing what it really means and beat your chest saying this is the greatest country in the world but have never stepped foot on foreign soil.

Agree.  There is plenty of socialism in America too.  Social Security, Unemployment Insurance, Welfare, Medicare, etc.  

There is more socialism in Europe obviously, but I don't think there is a country in the world without some socialism.

you definitely need to go back to school and take a refreshing course in political science, there is absolutely no socialism attached to the American government, or it's constitution, SS, UEI, welfare, Medicare, are assistance programs, of a Capitalized society, to aid the poor, and support the elderly, I don't even know why you would even mention SS ( do you even know what your talking about? or do you just simply have diarrhea of the mouth..comeback  when you get your facts in order, until then talk to your european counterpart, have a prosperous day

well done for working out I'm european, very astute, I'm dual nationality but thats probably a concept you'll find difficult to grasp.
Its funny you're trying to debate stuff you're googling whereas I've lived and worked in both places. 
I'm not in any way hurt or anything, you should read what thorpe says, there is socialism in many programs here already and while europe is more down the road, there aren't people clamoring to come here like you intimate, even mexicans are staying put these days.

Here's some free advice for you. Before you attack people because they have a different opinion to your warped views, do some actual research and speak to people in the real world.

New Zealand, Austria, Spain, UK, Germany, Canada, Luxembourg, Taiwan, Finland, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, UAE, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Australia, Denmark, Qatar and Singapore. 

There's a list of countries that are better to live in than the United States.

I am using the safety index, life expectancy, per capita income, education index, % of employed people, corruption index, human development index, natural disaster index, environmental performance index and climate index. 

Per Capita income in Qatar (1st) is $146,000 vs $53,000 in the United States (10th). 

Life expectancy in Singapore (1st) is 84.5 vs 79.5 in the US (not in top 10). 

Percent of employed people (15-64) in Qatar (4th) is 87% vs 63% in the US (not rated). 

The safety index in Singapore (2nd) is 17.59 vs 49.99 in the US (not rated).

please, using the per capita index in relation to Qatar (a country the size of Virginia) has no justification in relation to actually residing there on a permanent basis. and the services it offers their citizens, it's an oil rich kingdom with a limited population where as 'outsiders' come as tourist, period; the rest have no debate.. Singapore? come on now...safety index? life expectancy? go live their for a year, you'll come home and thank me...

i have four friends who have moved to europe and one to asia.  all of them are ecstatic they moved.  i wish i did.  it'd be great to live in another country and see something different.  but i was too much of a box and now it's too late.

My Dad moved to France for a few years. Got sick of all the regulations to do anything and moved back here. 
I've thought about moving to Asia not sure if I will after visting a few times. The one thing I can advise is make sure you visit the place for an extended time before taking the leap. The little nuances of life you're accustomed to here in the States are often not part of life in other places.
