I always thought that was kinda cool when you're in upstate NY approaching the Quebec border and some of the signs are in French and English.
Maine is a lot colder I'm sure.
How do the locals determine when they should close the schools for snow days? In North Jersey, ithey're shut down if it's anything > 3".
You guys probably remain open if there's 6-8 I'm sure.

they usually shut down school during ice storms outside of that 8-12 predicted and four on the ground. usually they try to get half a day so we do not have to make up a day in june.
we start school early like last week of august so they can give a couple weeks off for potato harvest its tradition now.

well waking up to a warm 22 degrees above expecting
an inch of snow today.
here in angel land,
why is it like heaven
cause as I been informed Hell is very very hot ....

Lived in Florida for several years (Tampa Bay area).
I would rather tolerate the 3-4 months of Winter in the Northeast than dealing with 10 months of unbearable heat and humidity. Not to mention the constant thunderstorms.
Plus most people down there are very slow and most Millennials have some kind of drug problem.
Good riddance to that hell-hole!

worked part time in Harker Heights Texas and Nolanville. for a while . summers were brutal. 110 for highs, working construction roofs were the worse. literally wore black gloves with green shells and two layers of pants to be able to lay asphalt shingles.
when it rained the roads became like a sheet of ice. slippery the oil in the tar would make a thin layer oil on top and was impossible to drive for first 30 minutes.

Nature, I realize that you enjoy the outdoors, and that the changing of the seasons is to be appreciated ... but in reading this thread my disdain for the cold/winter/snow has only grown.
Give me 98 degrees with humidity over 20 degrees with 3 inches of snow
bigreds daddy
