Betting simulator... anyone heard of this site?

I'm not a huge gambler but trying to learn strategies for betting on baseball. I didn't want to risk losing real money and I came across some site called thesportpick.com. It's like a betting site but there's no actual money and in principal I thought it would be good place to learn. Thing is I've never heard of the concept of a play money betting site before... 

So does anyone know if these things are common and can be trusted?
