WHAT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO IN THIS SITUATION ?

Question

I walked into a medium size grocery market. I picked up a few items and walked straight to the cashier. My Total was $23.75. I gave the cashier a twenty dollar bill and then gave the remaining balance of $3.75 in QUARTERS,DIMES,NICKELS AND PENNIES. I said thank-you and walked away without waiting for her to count it and confirm that it's correct. I'm not a regular there and don't know the cashier. My question is was i ignorant ? Was this the right or wrong thing to do?

This reminds me of a funny story.......&#xD;&#xA; &#xD;&#xA;At a fairly crowded bar at a happy hour.  No sitting or standing room at the bar, all guys pretty much staring at this SMOKING bartender.  She knew she was smoking and actually quite intimidating.
