Owners are sharper than ever, and nobody let anybody good at all slip.  Last year I got who I wanted, this year all I got was bent over the table and stuffed like a turkey.

Be careful if you have not drafted yet....make sure you are prepared for every scenario.  I thought I knew how the draft would essentially go, from the players last year...mock drafts I did....rankings online...etc...

WOW i was wrong!  I had the first pick and was scared away from Foster and took Ray Rice.  Then every good reciever was scooped up before my wrap around 2nd and 3rd pick at 20 and 21.  So I grabbed Darren McFadden and Tom Brady.

Needless to say I am screwed at receiver, managed (Brandon Lloyd, M Colston, W Welker, Roy WIlliams, D Bess) oh and grabbed Owen Daniels.

SO my advice to all who have not drafted.

    1.  QB is super deep...T Romo, S Bradford, Big Ben, Stafford, Kolb can all be salvaged in later rounds. Do not use an early pick on a QB unless scoring is inflated in your league for QBs or you start 2.

    2. Running back is deceptively deep.  If you cannot get an elite RB, then pass until later rounds.  Marshawn Lynch, Fred Jackson, J Stewart, McGahee, Bennie Wells...etc...  can all be salvaged later.  MJD, Michael Turner types are falling to the 3rd rounds, grab an elite WR and wait until round 3 for them.

    3. IMHO...WR is the most important position this year.  If you can, grab elite WR early!  I had pick 1 and then 20 and 21.  By my pick 20 every good receiver was gone!  I should of still grabbed Brandon Marshall and Dwayne Bowe...and I would if I could draft again.

Good luck guys, if you can do some mock drafts online and see how it goes.  If you have pick 6 or later I would recommend getting a WR.  The dude in my league with the 9th pick out of 10 went Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Michael Turner, Ahmad Bradshaw...perfect!

i disagree. Receiver is thin this year but you still have to take best available player most of the time. Elite receivers flew off the board early in my draft also. I got Chris Johnson with the 5th pick and MJD in the 2nd. I was able to snag Reggie Wayne and Kenny Britt to be my start wr's and have Jordy Nelson, Mohammed Massoquio, Sims-Walker, and Anthony Armstrong on the bench hoping one of them pans out. I think Colston and Welker will be fine for you.

I actually think you did well. I am getting a bunch of shit in my league about taking Rice #1 and how my team is projected to suck. Calvin JOhnson went 4th in my draft

i guess getting mcfadden with pick 20 is nice. welker with pick 60 was a gift, everyone was scared from the neck injury from the night before.

how can anyone argue that rice is a bad #1 pick!?!  who should you take instead that so much better?  foster with a reoccurring hamstring? AP maybe but i don't like mcnabb, chris johnson with a hold out? jamal charles is laughable at 1.

oh well.  i just feel like I am so far behind at receiver and pissed at myself for grabbing brady so early when i could of had bradford or romo in round 8 and later.

I live in Dallas so Romo went in like round 3 (Way too early.) I had to choose between Stafford and Bradford in 8 just because I heard rumblings in the room of backups being taken soon (Which they did take 6 before it got back to me.) I was able to Flacco in 10 so I did just cuz I was scared of Stafford getting hurt

oh well.  i just feel like I am so far behind at receiver and pissed at myself for grabbing brady so early when i could of had bradford or romo in round 8 and later.
I live in Dallas so Romo went in like round 3 (Way too early.) I had to choose between Stafford and Bradford in 8 just because I heard rumblings in the room of backups being taken soon (Which they did take 6 before it got back to me.) I was able to Flacco in 10 so I did just cuz I was scared of Stafford getting hurt

perfect...QB is too deep to jump on early.  stafford is a  pick.  flacco is a decent backup too.

i guess my biggest take away from the draft is EVERYONE was sharp.  every sleeper i wanted got scooped up right before my turn.  i was going to grab plexico with the 60 pick and someone scooped him with pick 56.

McFadden with pick #20 is a gift.
You must have drafted at ESPN. Their horrible rankings have him all the way down at #21 overall

I don't think owners are sharper than ever, I think Fantasy Football has reached such an efficiency of providing info at everyone's fingertips that any idiot can be pretty knowledgeable about the players and who to pick.  I don't think knowing more about the players from watching and reading gives you anywhere close to an advantage it used to.

i should...but asshole commish locks teams until season starts, unless there is an injury.  and then like a super dick gives #1 waiver to the # 10 pick.  which i totally disagree with

You can get a starting WR off free agency almost all year long, if you pay attention.  I never spend an early draft selection on a WR.  To each his own.

same with any position.  you can always find a backup running back.. i.e. peyton hillis last year.  or a starter goes down and you get the backup.

hard to argue with the guy who went WR WR RB WR and got andre johnson / calvin johnson / michael turner / anquon boldin

or the guy who went RB  WR  WR  WR and got forte (bad pick) / greg jennings / mike wallace / dwayne bowe

no way, especially in PPR leagues.  With chester the molester taylor soon to be out of town that makes him even better.  He will be motivated by recent contract talks as well.  The only downside is marion barber will probably be getting goalline carries and a fair amount of looks.

I was hating on the guy in my league that took forte with the 6th overall pick.  That was way too early IMO
