I have an issue with the censoring of certain words on this site.
Actually, one word in particular.
For a reason which I can not understand, we are not allowed to type the word "gaye" (drop the letter 'e' for the real word in question)
Why is this?
There are other words which are not permitted, such as the N word.
This is understandable as that word is offensive. All of the banned words seem to be offensive, and I fully support their not being permitted on this site.
My issue is that the word 'gaye' is not offensive.
Being gaye is simply a matter of sexual proclivity.
The word itself is not the least bit derogatory.
Referring to someone as gaye is not an insult.
Anyone who might feel the word 'gaye' is somehow not acceptable is most likely suffering from homophobia.
Is Covers catering to homophobes? I would hope not, but facts tend to speak for themselves.
Also, replacing the word 'gaye' with the word 'happy' was not well thought out.
Just sayin'
After all, the members of Covers are a well thought out group of mature people .... (ok, scratch that part of my argument)
To quote the great actor Morgan Freeman ...
"I hate the word homophobia. You are not scared. You are an azzhole"
Kindly refrain from homophobia and allow us all to be gaye
In closing, I respectfully request that the powers that be here at Covers address this oversight, and allow its members to freely express themselves in matters of homosexuality, without there being labels that seem to be deemed as unacceptable, even though they aren't.
Your attention to this matter is much appreciated, your standard response of "we will pass along your thoughts" is not.
Let's do this!!!
