Cant get saved JPEG to appear as my Avatar..

Question

Just joined yesterday and tried updating my avatar with a JPEG I had saved to my desktop. That picture shows up in the box on the right in my Space page - I clicked save but said picture doesn't show up next to my posts in the forum.

Can you help?
