Geno has a date with the Longhorns at night in Austin...Texas is favored by 7..If WVU can win this game, Geno should be the leader for the Heisman and WVU should be a top 5 team...
WVU will face a very good D this week and a Texas team with new found weapons and confidence on O...
This will probably be a no play ATS for me, but I like my Longhorns chances to win straight up...

Texas big.... long drives keeps WV off the field not that they need long drives WV can`t spell D let alone play some. Geno may get hurt in this one. But he is still the leader for the heisman.

Can't go against the Steers -- just too tough! I bet a 2-team tease moving both TEXAS & MIZZOU down to pick 'ems. Looks mighty good on paper, but stranger things have happened! Still it's worth trying . . . even if you're leery of THE TEASE!

David Ash is not a worthy QB to be trusted in big games. Gino Smith will be ready and gets the job done against a sub par defense which I've seen can be broken down this year! Granted W. Virginia has no defense, Texas offense is not that strong in the passing game and don't make enough big plays. Plus i would like to know who will keep up with W. Virginia's big play makers Tavon Austin & Stedman Bailey. Take the points with the front runner for heisman!!!!

Am I the only one worried about the Mountaineers' running game? If they can run on Texas and set up the play pass, it could be a long night for the Horns. Special teams will give Texas a shorter field, where I believe they will prevail...if the D can put some pressure on Gino. Texas wins 38-31.

If we were talking about the 2011 Freshman version of David Ash I'd be in your corner with this. But 2012 David Ash is a whole other player. All season long Ash is making decisions he would have never made last year. He's going through progressions, throwing the ball away when nothing is there, checking down to shorter routes if deep balls are covered, etc. This guy was nails in a HUGE game in a hostile environment at OSU last week.
2012 David Ash:
184.4 QB rating, 78% completions, 1007 yards, 10TDs, 1 INT, and 4 sacks (one per game). What more could you ask for from a QB who's team has run the ball 171 times and thrown it 121 times? They run almost 60% of the time, but Ash has made teams pay when it was time to throw. Exactly what the Longhorn offensive philosophy desires.
In the huge game at Stillwater last week, Ash was 30-37 for 304 yards, with 3 TDs and his only INT of the season. If that's not showing up and playing well on a big stage, what is?
Not saying Texas will cover such a lofty line, but assure you 2012 David Ash will make a 122nd ranked West Va. pass defense pay all night. Which gives Texas a solid chance to come out victorious with a little help from their superior pass defense.
Texas for the win, no play on the line, like the Over.

There are points to be made on both sides of this game. Texas defense had issues with OSU last week, and this is a step up in offensive firepower. How long has it been since Texas has won a meaningful game? Might be time to put Old Mack to pasture. At the same time, WVU has played no one so it is hard to say what happens if they get smacked in the mouth. Add to that a terrible WVU defense.
This is pretty much the same WVU offense that trounced and humiliated Clemson in the bowl game. I am going to take the points in what looks to a close, high-scoring shootout. I had Texas last week and had to sweat the late comeback, WVU is better than that. Medium play on WVU and the points.

I took the over last week on the Baylor/WVU game and was very happy with the results. I don't think WVU can put up the same type of numbers in this one. I think the Longhorns will try to turn this into a more ball control/clock management type of game to keep the WVU offense off the field.
IMO the total is inflated due to last weeks game. I'm leaning on the under in this one.

This is a classic situation in which the public will ride the sexy offensive team and frontrunner Heisman candidate.
I don't buy it. Maryland racked up some points on that shit WVa defense. At the end of the day the ghosts of Big East past will come to haunt them. Of course Texas struggled with OSU, it was on the road! DUH.

going with Texas here.. I think they will run the ball and play keep away from Geno Smith.. Smith hasn't thrown a pick yet, I think he throws two in this one.. If you've watched Smith over the past couple of years, he tends to snowball if he isn't hitting his targets early.. If Texas can get pressure and rattle him a bit, he will turn the ball over..

I think Texas wins this one and covers the spread.
Maryland's D was able to keep Geno Smith from putting up ridiculous numbers. I guarantee Manny Diaz has watched the film and found issues he can exploit. Texas's LBs must show up, though. They're young, inexperienced, and are not yet playing at the cerebral level they need to in order to thrive in Manny's D.
WVU exploited Baylor but Texas has better athletes in the secondary. Texas's secondary has been suspect because of poor tackling and bad angles. If they haven't fixed that by this weekend, then WVU has a great chance at leaving w/ a win.
I'm confident Texas can put points up on WVU. It will be up to Texas's defense to keep WVU from putting point on the scoreboard.

If you're seriously calling the OSU game a big stage game against a non-ranked OSU team with no defense then you have another thing coming from the heisman front runner that can score from all angles! Not saying that Texas won't score on a W. Virginia team with no defense. However, W. Virginia can put up points in a hurry and a lot of points at that! Can D. Ash keep up with that?
If W. Virginia gets a 2-3 TD lead against the longhorns the running game will end and the game will fall into D. Ash hands! Can D. Ash prove himself in a real big stage game that's yet to be decided. However, the only way I see Texas every winning this game is from there defense and not D. Ash for he still hasn't proven himself in a big game!!!!
