well colonel I respect your insight and you maybe right, I have been to all 4 games and have seen the offense grow in each one as the defense is excelling with what they have to work with and depth will be key in the big 10 . Illinois is no navy or temple, I believe this could be like the virginia game a few weeks ago which we should have won. Special teams is what is going to hurt us this season. I am going with my gut in this one.

I like Penn St here...after watching the Illinois game last Sat night...they got their ass handed to them by LT...though Penn St doesn't air it out like LT but defensive they should shut down ILL in my opinion....

Where do we start with your insightful post? Should we look at the fact that you make terrible jokes, the fact you're a grown man using LOL or the fact you don't present both sides of the story.
You talk about PED State (very original by the way) beating powerhouse Navy and powerhouse Temple. Um, what powerhouse has Illinois beat? And maybe you didn't notice, but Illinois got their doors ripped off by LaTech.
Maybe instead of acting like a fool and wasting everyone's time you actually provide some insight.
Maybe you could have mentioned how badly OBrien wants to show up Illinois because Illinois sent over a half dozen coaches onto campus to recruit PSU players without notifying OBrien out of courtesy. Maybe you could point it that it's odd for PSU to be a road favorite when they haven't proven anything. Maybe, just maybe, that line tells you how bad Illinois is.
But nah, roll out the bad jokes and poor analysis. Thanks for the great advice.

The Nittany Lions are 2-2 SU and 3-1 ATS; last week they beat Temple 24-13 as 6.5-point favorites.
QB Matt McGloin continues to be a bright spot for the beleaguered school; McGloin has nine TD passes to just two INTs.
His favorite target is WR Allen Robinson, who has become one of the nations top options.
Penn State has been getting it done on the ground by committee, and is likely to have all five of its RBs available for this game. For the most part though, the ground game has been inconsistent at best this season.
The defense has been decent, both against the run and pass, and has gotten pressure on opposing QBs, led by LBs Gerald Hodges and Michael Mauti.
However, this defense has always struggled against mobile QBs, which is exactly what Illinois' QB Nathan Scheelhaase is.
Despite all of the changes to this team, it's still significant to note that Penn State is just 4-6 ATS its last ten on the road.
The Illini are 2-2 SU/ATS; last week they lost 52-24 to Louisiana Tech as 3-point favorites.
Illinois has to shake off that loss and get down to business with the opening of Big Ten play today:
“You know, we’re excited about getting into Big Ten play,” coach Tim Beckman said earlier in the week. “We know what we must do on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to get ourselves prepared.”
Cutting down on turnovers is crucial this week, as the offense coughed it up five times last time out:
“If you have six turnovers, regardless of whomever you play, you’re going to have problems,” Beckman said. “We have to catch punts when punts need to be caught and we cannot give up big strikes on defense.”
As good as the Nittany Lions have looked at times this year, Big Ten play is a completely different animal, and they're a team that has had its ranks thinned due to the many sanctions imposed upon it in the offseason.
Already 2-1 ATS at home this year, Illinois is 9-8 ATS in its last 17 in front of the home town crowd.
"Revenge" can be a powerful motivator, and the home side plays with it today after losing 10-7 back on October of last season.
After a sluggish start, I expect Illinois to be its sharpest this week and to do just enough to escape with a SU and ATS victory!

Maybe Penn State play angry because they are pissed at Ped State jokes and they want to prove that they do have something to play for -- they're pride. I'll take the band of brothers people mock to make themselves feel better . Penn State +3
