The Big 12 and ACC could get two teams in this year which leaves fewer at large bids. I could see it happening this year. If Bama loses to Georgia Saturday they will already have 2 losses and Georgia would have the head to head and fewer loses. No SEC championship game appearance for Alabama.

Going into October there are 5 undefeated SEC teams. Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, Missouri, and Ole Miss. All the traditional SEC powers; Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and LSU already have a loss. And don’t forget newcomer Texas.

I think there will be quite a few teams invited with multiple losses…in fact I don’t see an undefeated team going into the playoffs. 2 losses will actually be considered a premium
