have the same mobility and is throwing off his back foot way too much
since that hit.
McCarron is actually suffering from three nagging injuries.
2)Barrett Jones. As great of a player as he
is/has been, he will be over-powered against Georgia. If you will
remember the A&M game, he had alot of trouble when they moved their
dominate D End Autry to Nose-guard... Georgia has a Nose in Jenkins...
well... imagine a faster version/with the same size of Terrance Cody.
That beast will require a constant double-team and often a RB staying
home to try and slow him down. I see multiple sacks on AJ from various
blitz packages (see Jarvis Jones/ Rambo).
Completely disagree agree here. I think this is one of Alabama's most favorable match-ups. Both Jones and Geathers can be pushed around. That said, Jones did have an outstanding game against Florida, but Jon Halapio is no Barrett Jones.
3)Deion Belue. Bama CB has a shoulder injury.
His pad level won't be as low and he will not wrap up on tackles... and
he will get picked on by Murray due to lack of vertical range in his
right shoulder. Vinnie Sunseri will have to cheat over to his side of
the field and a LB (probably Mosely) will have to drift back into
coverage. This will leave running lanes through the 3-4 defense.
Belue hurt his shoulder in the Ole Miss game. His shoulder is as good as it's been in a long time.
Yes, Georgia will attempt to pick on Belue, but that's symptomatic of Dee Milliner taking away the other half of the field. So yes, expect Georgia to attack Belue's side for lack of a better option. Belue, however, is more than capable of holding his own.
Ha Ha has pretty much replaced Vinnie in obvious coverage situations.
4) Bama WR's. Kenny Bell... the speedster is
out.. they already lost DeAndrew White (most athletic). now they are
talking about taking the redshirt off of Chris Black. He was highly
ranked coming out of HighSchool... a little ahead of teamate Cooper..
but come on man... first game is this one....... please... I'll give him
2 catches for 13 yards
I agree with you here. Everything I've heard indicates Black has looked fabulous in practice this week. There is no question the physical ability is there. The real question is how will he mentally handle the enormity of the moment. This situation certainly doesn't favor a true freshman making his first career start.
That said, if he plays at all, Black will back up Cyrus Jones, so I think you're putting a little too much stock in how much of an impact a backup wide receiver will have in this game. If he catches two balls for 13 yards, that'll probably as good as any other backup player will do.
Overall, I would take Amari Cooper and Kevin Norwood over anything Georgia has. Again, I think Alabama has an advantage (albeit a narrow one) at the receiver position.
Finally, the fact is Bama usually gets everyone's best game (insert Zach Mettenberger, Steven Garcia, Chris Todd, etc...)
I fully expect Murray to have a great day and Georgia to win straight up... how's that for a Bammer homer for ya
Murray is a short QB who crumbles when the defense is able to get in his face. How well Murray does will be directly proportional to how successful Alabama is at disrupting him. While I don't believe Murray will have a complete meltdown tomorrow, I likewise don't think Murray will have a career day either.
Final thought:
For Georgia to win this game they will have to play very clean and force Alabama to make more mistakes than them like Texas A&M did. History, however, does not favor a Mark Richt coached team in this regard. Richt's teams are historically not well disciplined, play very recklessly, and usually commit a number of foolish mistakes. Yes Georgia can match-up with Alabama athletically, but if they play in the reckless, undisciplined and foolish manner they usually do, they have no shot to win this game.
Conversely, Nick Saban is one of the best big game coaches in college football history. We know his team will be extremely focused and well-disciplined, and won't beat themselves.
We have already witnessed the undisciplined nature of a Mark Richt coached team this week. Very much like the 2008 blackout game when the Georgia players were more concerned with wearing black jerseys and pumping up their fans than they were with the team they were playing, the Georgia players are the ones that have been woofing it up all week. Meanwhile the champs have quietly gone about their business.
There is no doubt Georgia is capable of winning this game, but if Alabama plays their game, they should come out on top.
