1. This is a Nationally Televised game at home vs a well known Mega power. For a team with no post season hopes this is essentially a bowl game for Colorado. All the nations eyes will be upon them on this one night. This is all their players time to shine and show what they have got.
2. They will get back RB Rodney Stewart who is the All-Time All-Purpose yards leader in Colorado history. Before hurting his knee a few weeks ago Stewarts 1,169 all-purpose yards ranked him 14Th nationally. The return of Stewart will certainly help the Buffs attack.
3. They may also get back star WR Paul Richardson who has also missed several games with a knee injury and has targeted this game for a return.
4. Colorado reinstated their two best CB's Paul Vigo and Parker Orms. While neither of the two will play this week, they have been practicing with the team everyday this week and their leadership in helping Colorado prepare can only help a Buffs defense that has been a leaky siv all season.
5. Coach Jon Embree has completely changed his tune in press conferences from talking about how disappointed he is in the team's play to how proud he is of all of the men on the football team and how well they have handled themselves in difficult situations. Coach Embree's praise along with the reinstatement of Orms and Vigo seems to have brought this team back together and just two weeks ago it seemed like Embree had lost his locker room and now it feels like a team ready to win one big game for their coach.
Despite the talent difference on the field Friday, Colorado will have several intangible advantages this Friday. USC has to be deflated after that tough loss Saturday and with nothing left to play for it will not be easy to get this team up on a short week. I also do not like the head coach giving his team the built in excuse of bad officiating from last week. Sometimes if you give a down team a reason to feel sorry for themselves then they do.
Also USC will be missing some key personnel as starting RB Marc Tyler is likely to miss this game. Tyler has rushed for 438 yards and a couple scores and is a great pass catcher out of the backfield. They will also be without starting LB Dion Bailey and starting S TJ McDonald will be suspended for the first half.
For Colorado there is no next week. The only game that matters for this team is Friday vs USC. This is their bowl game and I expect this team to go out and play with a solid effort Friday and with some more bullets in the gun they may just fire.Or they could get blown the fuck out.
