After that 0-11 disaster a few ago I have finally turned the corner with a respectable 20-12-1 since. I now find myself ever so close to the .500 mark and have my eyes on a winning season.  I have adjusted to the lines and adapted nicely.  I was one of the better fades around there for a while but it probably isn't a good idea to be against me from here on out, I will continue my comeback of winners this week and I have opted to bring back my random thoughts section.
 
Random Thoughts from Last Week (Week 7)
 
I have to admit I had the wrong side as I watched the USC/Notre Dame game, the Irish did score 14 unanswered points to get me the cover but they were clearly overmatched against the Mighty Trojans.  It has never been more evident to me that USC just has the best athletes in college football year in and year out.  I knew they were probably better than Notre Dame and would probably squeak out a win but I failed to realize just how much difference there was in talent and skill level.  Notre Dame is more experienced and USC is young but they still haven't really closed the gap in talent.  USC can throw if they must, run if they must and play some defense.  Stay out of their way for the remainder of the season as they have their eyes on a Title Shot.  The trojans move ahead of Texas in my rankings because is there is simply no way that the Longhorns are better than them.
 
Congrats to Bama and Florida both for keeping their National Title hopes alive and getting important conference wins without playing their best games.  Both are great programs and both deserve their ranking but they both look vulnerable with their lack of passing ability.  What happens if they get down by over a touchdown late in the game and they have to score quick?  I don't see much of any passing from either team to be honest and I am starting to wonder if they are truly better than USC, for now I say yes, but the gap is closing quickly as the season goes on.
 
I hope Tony Pike turns out okay and is back playing soon, it would be ashamed to see Cincy lose him as he is much of the reason they are undefeated.  They remain the class of the Big East even though Pitt and West Virginia are both solid contenders as well.
 
Watching Rutgers vs Pitt the other night left me wondering.  Which is worse?  Dave's mustache or coach Schiano's grill?  Surely with his salary he can afford an orthodonist up in Jersey to close that parking garage in his mouth, come on Greg, shape up that grill bro, I'm cheering for you!
 
Tressel ball strikes again and the might Buckeyes lose to Purdue.  Yes, the same Purdue team that had lost their Big10 games by an average of about 73 points per contest.  I was the only one that refuse to put that fraud of a team in the top 10 and I was clearly right.  Pryor is a very below average passer that can run with ball with some effectiveness on occasion.  He is an average college quarterback with average offensive talent around him and he plays for one of the most conservative coaches on earth.  Tressel ball is about 5 years past its prime, they can't compete in most of their big games, they can't beat legit teams and their offense is too vanilla.  Godfather, how good to your boys look now bro?  You guys are officially the 2nd best team in Ohio, congrats!
 
Iowa continues to get wins, albeit ugly wins.  The Hawkeyes creep into my top 10 this week but I will keep them below Oregon as there is no way they could beat the Ducks on a neutral field.  As I look a the Big 10 I wonder if Iowa is the best team, they may actually be, they do play hard and they do win so I must give them credit.  I never have liked the Big10 but Iowa is a likeable team, thumbs up for them!
 
I really thought Nebraska was on the comeback with Bo P but that obviously isn't the case, at least for now.  They got punked by a  Texas Tech team without Graham Harrell or Michael Crabtree in their own backyard.  Tech has always been a sloppy road team but they punched the Huskers right in the mouth and got the last laugh.  The name BlackShirt will continue to take a back seat for BlackSkirts, oops.
 
TCU blasted a decent Colorado St by 38 points.  The Rams aren't good but they aren't bad either and they have been able to move the ball against other quality teams and hang around in games.  TCU just completely owned them and solidify their top 10 ranking for now.  The Horned Frogs get a nice matchup this week when they visit Provo and the Mormons will have revenge on their mind from the beating TCU gave them last year.
 
Is Texas A&M and Mike Sherman serious?  62-14 to Kansas St?  Really?  I didn't know that this year's version of Kansas State could beat anyone like that.  Sherman should be ashamed of himself and that dismal program he is building.  What a travesty he is for a football coach, the Aggies are just dumb enough to not know any better though
 
Hawkins made a much needed QB change and Hansen gave the Buffs a spark on offense and enough leadership to upset the undefeated Jayhawks, the students rushed the field after the game like they just won the National Title.  I couldn't help but think how bad things have become in Colorado that your students rush the field for a conference win over a basketball school, wow!
 
Idaho once again proves the doubters wrong and covers again, Hawaii gave them a fight but the Vandals got the job done and continue to be the ATS darlings of this 2009 season.
 
Mr. Snead gets the week off from me ripping him as actually had good stats this past game.  Enjoy the buy week Jevan.
 
It would be harder for me to have a much better weekend than this past one.  UVA won again, Va Tech lost, Ohio St. lost and I went 9-4 with my games.  All in all, that is the way I like it!

random thoughts were put together quick today and I tried to type while I was in a hurry to go somewhere, it makes the thoughts even more "random" considering I used 3rd grade level typing skills and use of the English language, I brutalized that and am very proud of it

I still think Boise is overrated because I dont think they could beat anybody in your top 10 on a neutral field....

Great write up, Wahoo.  Look forward to your picks!  It is great to be a Hawkeye this year.  Iowa seems to be playing solid football right now.  The coaching has been fantastic, putting Iowa in positions to win, and calling good plays.  The only play that disappointed me Saturday was when Stanzi went back to pass inside their own 20, and of course he fumbled.  With Stanzi's record of TO's, Whisky's solid Def, the right play would have been a screen or draw, or even a run play and punt the ball away as Iowa's defense has been very, very good.  Iowa lucked out and stopped them.  Whisky is a very good team.  I believe they are top 25, and will be there by the end of the year.  Tolzein isn't that bad, and Clay is awesome.  Their D is as good as anyone's in the Big 10.  Iowa has been very opportunistic, to say the least as they lead the country in TO's.  Hence the 7 - 0 They seem to play up, or down to their competition.  Iowa has never started 8 - 0 before, this SHOULD be an inspirational edge for them next week against a over-rated MSU team, as I pointed before the season started.  I am interested in that line, hoping it will be at least a TD.  I will take it at -7, or less (of course).
 
I don't believe the Colorado players cared for the Hawkins kid.  I don't like it either.  It is tricky when a head coach's kid plays for that team.  Too much politics and favoritism.  Happened a few years ago at Iowa, where Ferentz's son started on the O-line, and it was nothing but a nightmare.  He wasn't good enough, and everyone knew it--same with Hawkins kid at QB.  Morale had to be low.  I figured they would rally behind the new kid, as Hawkins really struggled for way too long.  That was ridiculous.  If it would not have been his kid, he would have been gone long ago.  What a waste of a scholarship!
 
I have to chuckle at Pryor's poor performances at Ohio State.  The kid can't pass.  Their offense sucks.  The vest is terrible at offense.  Decent at Defense.  OSU will never go far with Pryor at QB.
 
I watched the Neb game, I knew 10 was to many, esp the way TT can throw, and by the way they played Texas, a pretty good team.  Nebraska was surprised too, and over confidence got the best of them for this game.  Won't happen against Iowa State, who have to go play a mad Neb team now.  
 
Rutgers just isn't that talented this year.  Great coach, he will get them there (see Iowa, Boise State, Cincy).  Pitt just over-talented them.  I will continue to bet against Pitt when the talent is at least equal, or close.  The Stache is just NOT a very good coach.  He will cost them 2/3 games this year, and every year because of it. 
 
I also hope Pike returns.  He was having a whale of a season, and came from no-where to be dominating.  I did notice he is a bit stiff, and not very fast, which in the S. Florida game, appeared to be a liability with their S Florida quick D-linemen.  The 2nd string QB came in and pefromed lights-out, it was just the change-up Cincy needed, and screwed up S. Florida's game plan and D.  Plus, he was fresh.  I believe it might have been a much closer game had Pike not gotten hurt.  S. Florida is a very solid team.   I was impressed with Cincy's D.  All we here about is their offense, but I think their defense is top notch too.
 
TCU shocked me too, beating CSU as easily as they did.  I realy thought 23 points was too many.  TCU is definately a top 10 team, but I still have reservations about their offense, esp against another top 10 team.
 
That was TX AM first game away from home, but I doubt ANYONE saw that comming.  That had to be flat out embarassing to lose like that, esp against a team like K-State.  Is Snyder for real?  Will TX AM be able to bounce back from that?  Maybe for a game or two, but that game will come back to haunt them over the season.  Psychologically, that is a confidence killer.

Jevan Snead is a good kid who does not deserve all the criticism from clowns like you.  He is not a Heisman candidate, and it is not his fault that the media put him in that category.  He is basically a high strung kid who can either be hot or cold, and when he is hot he is pretty darned good.  I was at the Ole Miss-UAB game yesterday and Jevan began to look very comfortable late in the first quarter.  He played great the rest of the game, and only threw one bad pass all night.  After the game his quote was something like, "I am just trying to not listen to all the criticism and what everyone is saying.  I just want to help us win some games.  Last year we finished really strong and I think we can do that again this year."

He's just a kid, Wahoo, and a nice kid at that.  You have been very hard on him, but he has a rocket arm and I think he has some good games left in him.  He is tough and he is a competitor.  You had better be careful about trashing Jevan Snead.

it was a typo Chicken, I am very aware it should be "bye" week, I already claimed I had alot of typos and typed while I was in a hurry and my brain was spinning, I can assure you that I don't need any more education

as far as Jevan is concerned I was going to give him a week off from criticism, but since you called me a clown and typed "that I should be careful about trashing him" then I will probably get some Snead material up soon

say whatever you want about him, he hasn't lived up to any hype at all, he had one solid half of a season last year and you Ole Miss fans think he is the second coming to Christ, I understand that for SEC standards he is probably a decent QB, I get that

but come on, check the guys stats vs. teams with a pulse this year,  he has been awful to say the least

and why are you warning me about trashing him, telling me to be careful?  is it a crime to give a college football player a hard time on a message board?  maybe I have a hard time relating to a school that call themselves Rebels, maybe I don't understand what it is like to be a deep south racist redneck sporting a Rebel flag, I will try harder in the future

Nice job this week WahooS. Remember when I bet (hypothetical)you would not have a losing week after the 0-11. Well you have not had a losing week since.  Keep it up man you are doing a great job. I always appreciate your thoughts and I always take them in consideration before I make my wagers. BOL this week bro!

...really think TCU may be the best team in Texas. It sucks, but i think if UT played Bama or TCU the total would go under a number in the 'teens
