Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster

Looking forward to having a big week 5.

First pick: Oklahoma State -14 vs. Texas Tech
Power ratings: Oklahoma State (#21, -17.5) vs. Texas Tech (7.5) = projected spread of -28.

Getting about 2 touchdowns here in value and this is a 4 unit play and my pick of the week.

Stats here are a little deceiving with Tech. Only allowing 5.2 ypa on defense, but their 3 opponents have been Central Ark, @ UTEP, vs. Arkansas (who didn't throw the ball). Tech is very very small on defense and their LBers aren't playing well. I love fading Kliff Kingsbury he is not a head coach despite what ESPN wants you to believe. Huge coaching mismatch here with Gundy. Am somewhat concerned with Okie State's pass defense (9.8 ypa allowed vs. Mo State's starting QB) , but Okie State backs that up with only 3.1 ypc allowed on the ground.

Daxx Garman has had a couple impressive games in a row and could be an upgrade at QB over JW Walsh. Very impressed with O State's run game vs. a good UTSA defense top 3 RBs 4.0 ypc avg. UTEP #1 RB 6.5 ypc vs. Tech.

Stats: Texas Tech also averaging 10 penalties per game. OSt 7th in 3rdD, TT 77th in 3rdD (OSt with much tougher schedule). Tech QB Webb vs. average Arkansas defense = 5.6 ypa + 2 INTs (at home).

Again, I can't find a reason to like Tech at all. I was all over Arkansas ML vs. Tech 2 weeks ago. Not sure why the lover affair bettors have for Tech because they are horrible. I expect Okie State to win this game by 4 TDs.

Next pick: California -13.5 vs. Colorado
    Power ratings: California (33rd, -11.5) vs. Colorado (95th, 7.7) = projected spread of -22.

I already bought units at this pick at -12 and -10, but still feel there is value for you on the board at -13.5.

Colorado is horrible. I was all over them last week with a 5-unit play vs. Hawaii -7, but the performance for CU was uninspiring to say the least. Hawaii's D is really bad and CU failed to score in the 2nd half. QB Liufau only managed 6.4 ypa + 2 ints. Cali has 26th ypa defense + 5 ints on the year should have no problems here.

Colorado has gotten 2 covers in a row but I'm not impressed. ASU QB injured in 3qtr + barely cover a Hawaii team with brutal travel schedule + beat UMASS by 3.

Everyone might be down on Cali for allowing 36 pts in 4Q vs. Arizona, but that's a fluke. Arizona's top 2 RBs only 61 yards rush in that game.

Love soph QB Jared Goff 65%, 10.3 ypa, 5-1 TD/INT ratio.

Bet the Golden Bears before this gets to -14 for a 3/4 unit play. They will be ticked off they blew that Arizona game and we are getting them at a great price.

Next pick: Louisiana Tech +32.5 vs. Auburn
Power ratings: Auburn (13th, -21.5) vs. LA Tech (53rd, -2.3) = projected spread of -27...and if anything here guys I could be seriously overrating Auburn.

Look, sometimes as a capper, you just gotta say some guys are flukes and take advantage. Northwestern State vs. Louisiana Tech = FLUKE and so as a capper you have to play the markets. Sell high, buy low. Well guess what, Tech losing that game was the best possible scenario for us as gamblers because now we get an AMAZING price of -32.5. Tech turned the ball over 5x, but their averages in that game aren't horrible. Defense: 5.9 ypa, 2.7 ypc, 5/15 3rdD, only 307 total yards.

Basically what Vegas is saying is that the disparity b/w Auburn + LA Tech is the same as Mich State + Wyoming, Wisconsin + USF, and TCU + SMU. I just don't agree with that.

Cody Sokol is a very very good QB. Look at his ypa game log this season: 8.2, 7.8, 8.9, 5.3 (@ Oklahoma). Well guess what Auburn doesn't do well? Idk if you watched the KState game but I did. That Auburn defense is vulnerable vs. the pass. Only 47th in ypa def but that includes Arkansas + SJSU. SJSU lit up Auburn 8.1 ypa for starting QB, 7.2 ypa for backup.

I think we were all pretty unimpressed with the Auburn offense vs. KSU. Dropped passes and they miss RB Tre Mason big time. LA Tech 26th def ypa. I watched their North Texas game (had LA Tech ML as my pick of the week) and they have some good athletes no doubt. Also a big fan of Skip Holtz.

Think about the spot here: Auburn has their SEC slate coming off, and LA Tech coming off a loss. I can't imagine Auburn will be focused for this game.

I also like Louisiana Tech +6000 as a crazy epic ML play (very very small bet like .1-.25 units). I think they have a chance at an upset here.

Next pick: Louisiana Tech +32.5 vs. Auburn
Power ratings: Auburn (13th, -21.5) vs. LA Tech (53rd, -2.3) = projected spread of -27...and if anything here guys I could be seriously overrating Auburn.

Welcome, and thanks for sharing your thoughts.  I like the Louisiana Tech play quite a bit for some reasons you have mentioned and others you have not.

Next pick: Utah -13 vs. Washington State

Power ratings: Utah (19th, -18.5) vs. Washington State (82nd, 5.4) = projected spread of -27.

Too many bettors lost money on Oregon late Saturday night, and now think Washington State is a juggernaut. They aren't. This is still the same team that lost home opener vs. an average Rutgers team + lost by 11 @ Nevada.

Utah beat UM on the road, but they still don't get respect. Still not a top 25 team on the polls. How does this matter as a handicapper you ask? Well look at East Carolina last week. Big win off VA Tech on the road, still no respect in the polls, then they clobber UNC in another prove-it game.

This is a prove-it game for Utah vs. Pac 12 team. Utah held UM to 3.3 ypc, 4.9 ypa + 4 turnovers. Utah held Fresno #1 RB to 4.1 ypc (not great, but not horrible either).

When you excuse Connor Halliday's bloodbath vs. an overrated Rutgers team: 6.8 ypa 2 ints vs. Nevada + 6.9 ypa vs. Oregon...and Utah's defense might be better than Oregon's. This cover all comes down to Utah's ability to stop the Wash State passing game...and there are some concerns. Utah #69 ypa def in 2013, #55 ypa def in 2012.

My powers could very well be underrating Washington State + overrating Utah. But let's adjust it. If Utah is #28 in powers (I would put them no lower) and Wash State is #65 in powers (no higher), that still creates a projected spread of -18. So even if my analysis is slightly off, I still think there's a lot of value with this game. Thoughts?

All I'm saying is Cal is still the team that only won 2 games ly, Check out how much yardage they give up on penalties. ...their style of offense doesn't know how to bleed clock, that's why northwestern almost came back and zona did....I think cal 1st half is a better play they seem to start fast and Colorado takes a while to get going

Next pick: Texas State +4 vs. Tulsa (or Texas St ML)
    Power ratings: TxSt (81st, 5.2) vs. Tulsa (98th, 8.5) = projected spread of PICK'EM

Tulsa is the Radio Shack of college football teams. Used to be good, used to be a name, but they aren't any good anymore so what you knew isn't true anymore.

Let's look at Tulsa right now: Got crushed by FAU for 518 total yards and allowed 516 total yards vs. Tulane. Death, taxes, and Tulsa giving up points - believe it.
    .
QB Dane Evans: 5.5 ypa + 2 ints vs. FAU...Evans has thrown 2 INTs in every game this season so let's just assume he is really really bad.

TxSt allowed 6.8 ypa vs. Illinois but they did get crushed on ground for 219 rush yds. This doesn't concerned me the Tulsa OL <<<< Illinois OL. Major step down in talent from last game.

Key stats: TxSt 67th in def ypa, Tulsa 123rd. TxSt 44th in off ypa, Tulsa 96th. TxSt 41st in off ypc, Tulsa 100th.

Tulsa has 5th most underclassmen in America...average 7 career starts offensively (and this team doesn't recruit well so don't worry about them coming out of nowhere with talent).

Tulsa outscored in 1QTR 45-0 this year (great team to fade in 1H betting!)

No matter how you slice it, Texas State +4 is an absolute bargain and I highly encourage the ML play for you sickos out there. I believe there is a much greater disparity than my power ratings suggest when you factor in Texas State has more team experience across the board + the better QB no doubt.

As a capper, I don't care about SU wins. I don't care than NW almost came back to win. California covered - that's all I care about. I don't care that Arizona came back to win - California covered. I certainly don't care about what California did LY.

California held Arizona to 13 points from 1Q-3Q. On the road, they held QB Soloman to 7.0 ypa + Arizona to 3.3 ypc. Arizona did not get a rush greater than 14 yards.

If the fluky 4th QTR didn't happen for Arizona, then we would have said Cali shut down Zona in Zona.

But gl with your picks...but not really since I'm going against you

    You sickos want'em? You got'em!

Next up on my card: Notre Dame (-12) vs. Syracuse
Power ratings: Notre Dame (12th, -22) vs. Syracuse (76th, 4.2) = projected spread of -26 (neutral field @ East Rutherford)

Syracuse had a very cake schedule their first 2 weeks, then BAM Maryland trounced them to win by 2 TDs despite being an underdog.

I felt Syracuse was overrated prior to their Central Michigan game, made an uneducated bet and didn't know CMU was without their best player Thomas Rawls, and then decided to not play Maryland last week not knowing how they'd react after their heartbreaking loss to WVU.

So, here we go. I'm just not a Syracuse fan at all. I think if you have the personnell at DL and LB (Notre Dame does), then Syracuse can be a simple team to stop. They just don't have a QB. Terrel Hunt is not a good passer. So while Syracuse does average a sick 5.9 yards/carry, I'm just not buying them against a team of the caliber of ND. Let's get to it:

Reason #1: The ND defense has shut down everyone they have played this season. Purdue (who played way above their heads in a nationally televised rivalry game) was 5.9 ypa + 2.2 ypc,
Rice (starting QB) 6.8 ypa + 3.5 ypc, and Michigan was 5.9 ypa + 2.9 ypc. This is a consistent defense we can rely on to get stops + cover a spread. Because we are going up against a rushing offense, I even looked at how Notre Dame did in giving up explosive run plays. Only 9 runs given up of 10+ yards, and ZERO run plays given up of 20+ yards. That will change vs. Syracuse, but we just want to limit Syracuse's offense. We only have to win by 13 points to win the bet.

Despite having a much tougher schedule than Syracuse so far ('Nova, CMU, Maryland), ND also has a better 3rd down defense.

Reason #2: The passing game here is gonna be all ND, which means more points, more first downs, better field position, and a more tired defense. Despite Cuse's weak schedule, they still only rank 90th nationally in def ypa. Everett Golson is 38th nationally in ypa among QBs and 36th in comp %. He also hasn't thrown 1 INT this season. We can trust him in this spot.

Reason #3: Syracuse's defense is going to break. C.J. Brown of Maryland threw for 10.8 ypa/280 yards...to put that in perspective, if his receivers had gotten 2 more yards it would have been a career high!!! Villanova's QB threw for 7.4 ypa and ran for 112 yards. Nova's #1 RB ran for 3.8 ypc. Cuse' defense gave up more passing yards than James Madison, USF, and a bad WVU defense.

Reason #4: Penalties. These can be kind of random, but sometimes they aren't and we have a decent sample size. Notre Dame is 15th in nation in penalties (4/game) and Syracuse is 105th nationally (8/game).

Reason #5: WR Ashton Broyld is out. Led team last year w/ 52 receptions. So even if we were worried about the Syracuse passing game, they are now without one of their best weapons.

My advice: Not my most favorite play of the week because ND is everybody's Super Bowl...I suggest making a 1-2 unit play now, and then waiting until Saturday morning to check the weather. If the wind is 7mph or below in East Rutherford, then you can unload...but check the weather because it will affect ND's offense more than Cuse's offense.

My projected spread is off here I noticed. There is a 19 pt difference b/w the teams + 3 pts for home field = -22 which means we are still getting 10+ points of value

Ok st is a loser, I like half your picks but I would definitely stay off ok st. Tech will win this game outright and if not will go to the wire. I aint hating bro that's just my opinion. I like the write up's. I also think you are acting like those power ranking are the gospel we both know if it was that easy bookmakers would be out of business. Good luck bro don't bet too many games and be professional about it.

Totally agree. If I totally went based off my powers, then I would take Texas AM to pay off all my college loans this week but I know better. Not gonna play that. Just use it as a tool because I can be off in spots definitely. These aren't somebody else's powers btw they are my own I update them every week constantly.

I would definitely love to know specific reasons why you like TxTech so much though.

Anyways, was doing research for Duke vs. Miami so thought I would it include it in my thread as well.

    Game: Duke at MiamiFL (-7.5)
Power ratings: Duke (48th, -4) at MiamiFL (35th, -10.5) = projected spread of -9.5 for MiamiFL.

I tried fading Duke last week and it was a mistake. Of course, Tulane managed to turnover the ball 5 times and allow 2 pick-6s...but Duke still easily covered. Still, QB Boone only 6.7 ypa + 1 INT. Duke also allowed 231 yards rushing to Tulane.

I think we also have a potential All-DiaperDandy QB in Brad Kaaya. I have faded him a bunch this year and have won 2 of those 3 bets (and if Arkansas State wouldn't have given up 20 pts in 1stQTR, likely would have been 3/3 scoop), but he's been playing a lot better. In his last 2 games, Kaaya is 67%/10.6ypa/7 tds/2 int. Boom. He has all the physical tools. To go into Nebraska and throw for 359 yards as a freshman is amazing. He definitely has some good weapons at his disposal.

I feel like Duke is extremely overrated right now. Problem is, I don't love the #. We would be all over this if it were 3-4 points, but at -7.5 I'm just not in love with it. I have faith in the Miami O, it is their D I'm concerned about. Only giving up 3.3 ypc (and likely better than this # because Nebraska is going to roll over everyone this year on the ground).

However, Miami's pass defense concerns me. 7.4 ypa vs. UL + 8.7 ypa vs. Nebraska.

Miami's starting kicker is also out for the moment. In a potentially tight game like this, I just don't want to miss those 30 yard FGs to not cover the spread.

This is a game that definitely warrants more research + discussion from you guys. I like Miami, I want to bet Miami, but I don't want to burn money here. And this is def. a spot where it is not about the team it's about the #.

Pass for now. Maybe 1 unit for later but unsure. Duke isn't horrible.

Next up: Vanderbilt at Kentucky (-17)
    Power ratings: Vanderbilt (78th, 4.6) at Kentucky (39th, -8.5) = projected spread of -16

I know Kentucky inside and out because admittedly I am a UK fan. But I am 3-0 on ATS bets with them this year including a near +800 ML ticket that nearly won vs. Florida. Don't love this # vs. Vanderbilt, but I love the spot here for Kentucky.

To give you some background on UK, this team is different. Mark Stoops has reeled in 2 top 25 recruiting classes in a row and has UK rolling. UK has tons of playmakers/speed at RB and WR to put points on the field just ask Florida. UK is greatly improved at the QB position - Towles is one of the better QBs in the SEC. Big, strong arm, mobile, but still lacks in the accuracy dept. Love UK's DL + pass rush, but they are weak at safety + ILB.

We are going to pick UK next week as a home dog vs. South Carolina...this is why I am likely passing on UK here. I also don't see the value as UK could also blow out Vandy coming off the bye. Coaches say their team is practicing well this week and they don't lie they call their players out for bad practices.

Vandy does have a lot of speed at RB in Ralph Webb. UK will dominate the LOS like they did vs. Florida, but what if Vandy has the answer at QB now? I mean who knows with this team.

If you make this bet, make it because it is a situational play ONLY because there is not much value left in the #. I already bought 2 units at -13.5, but I'm not buying any more at the current #.

I suggest waiting on UK next week vs. South Car as I mentioned. I think SC is vulnerable and they match up badly vs. Kentucky.

But Vanderbilt? That's a gamble you could probably be sweating in the 4th QTR. It's also a gamble that could be won by halftime, I just don't know.

Can't sleep so here is my last one. Enjoy it. Working hard over here so you guys can make $ off me.

Next game: Northwestern at Penn State (-10.5)
Power ratings: Northwestern (97th, 7.9) at Penn State (38th, -9) = projected spread of -20.

I've been trying to fade NW when I can this year. Just don't like the player's lawsuit + attitude in terms of a football perspective. The coaching staff + players obviously don't see eye2eye. It has shown on the field.

Got crushed by California, and got outplayed LW vs. Western Illinois. WIU outgained NW by 93 yards. NW QB Siemian banged up still only 4.7 ypa. WIU #1 RB rushed for 4.2 ypc ... no excuses for that. NW failed to cover WIU, but if WIU didn't lose 3 fumbles they probably win that game outright.

In what I read, Siemian didn't sound confident. Said team was far from a finished product. Not exactly confidence-inspiring for this teammates because they all suck obv.

Penn State blew out NW but had an epically bad offensive performance vs. Rutgers (and I had Penn STate -3.5 they won by 3 pts forced 5 TO's grrrr). I don't think PSU needs much offense on Saturday. The defense is still top notch so they don't need much offensive output to cover NW.

Penn State has #1 rush D in nation at 1.8 ypc. NW's bread and butter is their defense they are solid, but points are going to be hard to come by.

Northwestern's looks banged up with injuries, so if anybody knows anything about whether their key players are injured please speak up I am just too tired to look into it right now.

I'm not a big fan of series history or what has happened in past years, but Penn State is 5-0 ATS vs. NW in last 5 dating back to 2006.

After PSU failed to score more than 13 pts vs. Rutgers, I'm not going to push this game as a 5 unit lock or anything, but I do think Penn State is worth 1-2 units here at -10.5. NW is just god awful + their players don't want to win, they want to get paid.

All the #s say to not be worried about NW here, so why should we be?
