Not the best week ever but certainly not the worst. I was hoping for a better start but hey, it's a long year.You guys excited about the season? I am,Let's go!

                                       Ten Things We Learned



1. It's only appropriate to start with biggest baddest bully on the block, Alabama. Well, I'm not so sure I seen that big bad bully. Let's be honest here for a second, 2 special teams TD's and a Pick 6 was the difference in the game. If you look at the stat sheet you will see that bama was not as good as advertised. I know your gonna say, well Boom, V.T didn't look good either. Well yeah, BUT we all knew that coming in. We all knew that Logan and the V.T offense sucks. Now saying all that I say this, I'm glad because I won my bet. But this whole Bama will score 50 points before the half nonsense was a flat out a joke. If you watched the game....you would have seen the truth.

2. The game of the week. Clemson vs Georgia. I have been predicting for several months now that Clemson would win this game by 10 or more points. Take away that late TD and that's pretty much what happen. But overall it was a great game between 2 great teams. 2 of the best offenses in the country not named Oregon. Clemson won the game with there front 4 on defense. Georgia done well offensively but that was expected. They are gonna move the ball on just about anyone they play. But the push Clemson got up front was the difference in the game. It's as simple as this and I have been saying it all summer..... We got Tajh Boyd, and you don't. That's the difference. Just a little side note. No non conference team has beat Top 10 SEC teams back to back, ever. Well, except Clemson now. 

3. Just in case anyone missed it. Kansas st, S. Florida, UCONN, Oregon st, San Diego st and Iowa st all got beat by FCS opponents. Wow and WTF?! And a few of these games were blowouts. S. Florida got absolutely blasted by McWho st tech. Blowout city son! I mean it was nasty too, these guys got beat by 32 points and it wasn't even close. What the heck is going on you say? It's called parity. I love it. I love the fact that any team can roll in play with the " Big Boys " at any time and have a shot. This is why this sport is so great!

4. South Carolina is a very good football team. I know most of you think they looked flat Thursday. But the truth is they were hit by a stomach virus 2 days before and several of the players were dehydrated. Look, I hate saying it more than anyone but this is a good football team that knows how to win. If im the the ole ball sack I would play Dillon more, but they do have 2 good capable QB's. The DL is the best in the country and when healthy they are very hard to handle. But I say all that to say this. Georgia will beat these guys next week. I have thought for months now if Clemson beat Georgia then Georgia would have there backs against the wall and come out swinging. Write it down, Georgia over S.C this week. 

5. Now it's time for our " Destroy Florida " segment. JK.... I/we all knew that Florida was good defensively, but the offense was the problem. Nothing has changed. I think 24 - 6 vs Toledo was expected. Florida is very good defensively, maybe a overall better defense then S.C. But IMO, nothing has changed with my opinion on the offense. I know alot of you will say Driskel played good, and he did. One small problem, it's Toledo. I think we just need to see him play a better team to get a good overall assessment. But all in all, Florida is a good team and IMO, nothing has changed.

6. Bill and Mary went to the worlds largest couch burning event and almost walked away with a win. I know mullet man was pissed too. Is it just me or does it seem that he lost this football team? Already this early? West By God Virginia is in for a long season if they dont get this turned around. Heck, the entire Big 12 looked like chit if you ask me. I wonder is this the year that Texas can finally step up and take charge of this conference. Well, with Oklahoma too. But you get it.

7. What could any " Top Ten " or highlights be without a Johnny Football sighting? Johnny is back and he doesn't care what anyone thinks....btw, you can purchase his John Hancock online for a fair price! Look, here is the deal. Love him, hate him or even be obsessed with him ( bama fans ) the guy is crazy good. I know everyone wants him to fail, but let's be honest here. He isn't going to fail. Why? Because he is a freak. Im not sure what planet he is from but the guy is the quickest football player I have ever seen. Not the fastest now. But the quickest, 2 really big differences. Guess what Bama....he's coming!

8. What can we take away from the men of troy this weekend? Im not sure this team is any better then they were last year...and that's not good at all. I hate Lame Kiffen and would love to see that guy fail. This team reminds me alot of West Virginia. They just simply look uninspired. I know sometimes we all can over react to week 1. But this is not a good sign if I were a fan of these football teams. Something better change and it better change quick.

9. The Vandy WR Jordan Matthews is IMO what a student athlete should be. What a great kid Franklin has there. If any of you missed it the guy left it all out on the field...and I mean literately. The kid was throwing up after getting popped, sat out a play then came back and made a tremendous catch. Ole miss is a good football team but I think overrated too. It's a long season, so we all need to see them play some better teams before we get overly excited.

10. Week 1 is in the books men. It came fast as it always does, but nevertheless, it's back. Don't know how everyone did yesterday but I hope all is well. If you are down hang in there it's a long year. If your up just understand it's only 1 week. Don't get too high right now, alot can happen. I love this time of year obviously, but gambling on football isn't why I love it so much. I love the game and as I have said many many times, I'm a bigger fan of this game then money will ever mean to me. It's the best sport on the planet and I know most of you feel the same....But keep a level head and know that the Best is yet to come......



  

I mean, seriously - what a treat watching Johnny Football. Love him or hate him the dude may be the greatest player right in front of our eyes, of all time.

I thought there was a chance that he'd come out a bit unispired but boy was I wrong - Bama watch out.

I couldnt tell if the Vandy offense was that good or if the Ole Miss defense was that atrocious. Either way that was probably the game of the week - absolute treat to watch.

Thanks Boom, love your reflections.  Watching USC, they got a ton of talent, Troy I am referring to.  If they ever play up to the athletic talent level they have,  look out.  Probably not at SEC level, but not too far.  Their qb situation needs to be addressed, skill players are like 4-5 star recruits. D-line is big and fast, linebackers are good, d-backs are inexperienced right now.  They left their two best rbs at home and still did well against a Hawaii defense that played way over expectations.  Their TEs will play in the NFL.

Thoroughly enjoyed that right up.  How bout them Clemson Tigers huh?  wow and how bout that RB last night, did I hear right he's a freshmen? Wow.  Man, South Carolina looks pretty dominant up front if they stay healthy, but I think TE's are gonna abuse that cushion over the middle if they don't address it.  Bama scared the hell out of me and if not for the special teams ace, it would have been closer,  hoping they get their stuff together for A&M. What about LSU? Man, they just looked like they're missing a few cylinders yet, idk.  Well, up for the year here, thanks for the advice and write up, BOL everyone

Clemson game was a great one...

4, 5, and 10...couldnt agree more. Was just telling one of my boys that Georgia gonna beat SC next week...if theyre not deflated of course. Im a Trojan fan and know exactly what youre saying. I live in Hawaii, and a few of my uncles are USC alumni. I was hanging with them the day before game and told them I wouldnt be happy til Kiffen is gone...lol. Good luck this week.

Nice summary. I ended up not betting for it for 1u because of the Boyd comment, but I said several times that I didn't think UGA could beat Clemson at home and at night. Great game and GL going forward

Take away the late TD and Clemson wins by 10 pts!!! Are you that delusional when it comes to your Clemson Tigers? It's not like they gave up a garbage TD at the end of the game. It was a close game that could have gone either way. Your always trying to make them better then they are. Georgia had more total yards, more passing yards, more running yards, more first downs and more time of possession. We knew Georgia's defense was bad and that was confirmed. All offseason you kept saying how sneaky good this Clemson defense would be- they are not good- giving up 545 yds is not something to be proud of even if it is against a very good offense. Clemson is a dynamic offensive team but lets not sugarcoat the fact that the defense needs work. Agree with most of your other points although I am not sure that Johnny won't fail. The kid is a total egomaniac and has no class. I wouldn't be surprised if he implodes before the season is over. 

Clemson deserved that win...happy for them.and you....parity may be on display as early as monday night at pitt.......ots not a stretch like eastern wash.but still an example of have nots rising to meet challenge of haves (ie.us vs.the books?hmmmm...)....handshake

Yes when they were underrated and good it was easy money - the worlds a couple years off on this team and they still think kellen moore and that insane defense is there. Fact is now Boise st is undersized and due to the hype theyve received no one is going to be sleeping on them. They'll prob still do solid in the MWC but they will not be covering lofty a$$ spreads.

Also Boom take USF off your list right now, they are not a relevant football team, they are still living off the success of the bj daniels era. They'll be lucky to win 2 games this year, squad is a joke.
