UMASS Minute Men +28.5
It can only go up for the Minutemen who were historically bad last year. They were winless. BUT, they brought in Pop Watson at QB from Va Tech, and was highly touted coming out of high school. They also added a few transfers from big time programs, so just their presence should elevate everything in the program. Rutgers is starting a new QB, a handful of new offensive linemen, and had a terrible defense a season ago, so I have no problem thinking that UMASS can stay within 4 scores. Watson will be able to convert 3rd downs with his legs, and both teams should be running the ball, keeping the clock moving.
Arkansas Pine Bluff Golden Lions +55.5
Drinkwitz has gone super vanilla against these schools that don't matter in the past. He doesn't want Kansas, or any other future opponent to see anything that they plan on using, they run about the same 5-6 plays all night long. It's going to be 95 degrees until the sun goes down, and it will be hot long after that. Both teams will be ready to go home by half time, and the clock should run at all times in the second half. Mizzou is gonna win something like 52-10
Colorado Buffaloes +6.5
Tech has quite the shoes to fill at QB with superstar Haynes King playing on Sundays now. Same with RB Jamal Haynes. And OC Buster Faulker. That's a boat load of production that you need to replace, and Colorado, while they weren't good last year, does return some familiar faces so in week 1, continuity is super important. The Buffs hit the portal well, especially on offensive line and WR. Should be a good game, but I think the Buffs win.
Utah Utes -36.5
If you saw what Cal Poly did to Idaho last week, then you know Utah is likely to score a million points tonight. Everything is new in Salt Lake City, but that won't matter vs these Vandals. The trenches will be OWNED by Utah, and I'd be shocked if Idaho scored. Their new OC is from Utah State, and he likes to run uptempo stuff, so quick scores are likely.
