I gotta laugh at some of the most pathetic responses to the original author in this thread. The SEC is a great confrence and no doubt a NC would be coming from this confrence with a slight chance from the big 12. Charlie weise is a great coach, he is an admired coach in the college and professional circles. For some of you to bash a guy who undoubtly has the crdentials to have suckass teams play above their potential and great teams win big games, shame on you. As for what happens on Saturady, we will let the coches and players figure that out and leave it on the field, it will be a battle for the ages im sure, question is does anyone of you or have you ever run the 50 in 4.7 sec. if you havent and youa mediocre 7.5 in the 50 then dont ask any lineback for Alabama to do it cause it wont happen. I have Florida winning this outright as well.

I am not sure what point you're trying to make when you compare us to collegiate athletes... Not sure why, if we can't why collegiate, NFL prospects cant either??? Another bit of info... The Alabama LB's all run their 40's in the 4.5 - 4.7 range, and so do our CB's... The Florida RB's run theirs in the 4.2 - 4.3 range. So there isn't that big of a mismatch. If you think they are just gonna fly by them, and never get touched then you are a moron. Don't put too much money on Florida...

I can assure you none of Alabamas starting linebackers run a legit 4.5 . But then again most 260 lb players dont. Now that doesnt mean Florida walks away with this game. Thats hardly the case. Its just a huge match up problem for Alabama. All of Floridas linebackers run a 4.4 or 4.5 so matching Trent Richardsons speed wont be a problem. Not to mention the Gators have 3 future first round draft picks on the defense line. None of which Alabama can block man to man. Florida also has a much better offensive line IMO. And I know Florida got beat bad last year @ Alabama but Florida did manage to out gain them yardage wise. And that was without Chris Rainey who is a legit heisman contender and a Jeff Demps who played with an injured hamstring. Just sayin

I was including the CB's who are both at or under the 4.5, and Nico Johnson runs a 4.58...  Trent Richardson never claimed to have world class speed, he just has a a combination of everything, and to say he won't be a problem tells me right there you smoke crack lol. He is the 13th ranked RB in the NATION, and the second ranked RB in the SEC. Eddie Lacey is even ranked higher than Demps lol! I would also like to point out that you are using the word FUTURE in your argument for your defensive linemen... They are young, and inexperienced when compared to Bama's offensive line, and you are gonna understand that Saturday. The same story goes for your offensive line that you have this opinion of...

The three best defensive lineman in this game belong to the Gators. Is that a better statement for you? Trent Richardson will get his 100 yards or so but that wont be enough. AJ McCarron will have to win this game for Alabama. The question is can he?

That's funny... I thought Bama's run defense was higher ranked than Floridas... Humm.

Haven't read the entire thread, but if the question is whether Bama's defense can contain Demps and Rainey, that can be answered by the results of the last 3 meeting between these two teams.

I don't feel like looking up the stats, but I'm pretty sure Demps and Rainey haven't gained 150 yards combined in those three games combined.  So the real question is why does anyone think Demps and Rainey will be a factor in this game when they haven't been in the previous three.

Florida's rushing attack has virtually no chance against Bama's defense.

You go beyond being objective, what you just said is completely meaningless 4 weeks into a season.

Demps and Rainey didn't even play last year, nor did the offensive staff coach the team.

I was more being a smart ass, Demps was already hurt at that point… so he might as well had not been playing. How many times can it be said that comparing anything from last year is completely and totally useless, anything UF's offense did under Addazio is pointless to compare to what is running the offense now.

Ok, y'all forced me to look it up.

In 2008 Demps and Rainey combined for 54 yards.  In 2009 they combined for 16 yards, and 2010 Demps had 47 yards.  The grand total offensive production for the Demps/Rainey combo over the previous 3 games was 117 yards, or 19.5 yards per game, per player.

The Demps/Rainey show is nothing new for Nick Saban, Kirby Smart and the Alabama defense.

    Advantage:  Alabama's defense.

You do realize how much different the scheme is offensively now right? Florida's RB was Tebow in that 08 and 09 game, the amount of times he ran the ball was unreal

weis is a legit play caller/schemer. I beseech anyone to name five better current coordinators. But anyway bama had 360 yards of offense at home against ark last week. McCarron couldn't have played much better.  Definitely expect a lot fewer yards on the road against a better d this week.  I think alabama wins most of the time but I don't get all these anti-OP comments.  He picked a 4 point dog to win outright....saying that's absurd is more inane than anything OP said by far. You guys should be unloading half of your roll on bama ML if Florida really has as little of a chance as you say

There has been a good bit of disrespect for this matchup on this site so far today. It seems to be an automatic win listening to a lot of people. I don't expect my Gators to win but we will fight Bamas ass tooth and nail to the final whistle.. That is for sure and that is why Im so excited about having Muschamp and this staff in Gainesville, we are a tough team and will be that way for years to come. Much like Bama became with Saban

    Few things about this thread:

    • Demps and Rainey won't be running it between the tackles
    • Saban isn't dumb and won't have Hightower playing man to man on Demps or Rainey
    • If the Gator offense is no more than swings and screens then the Gators are in trouble.
    • Brantley has no WRs to threaten Bama down the field (Arkansas did and it didn't help them)
    • Stop it with the Weiss is the difference bull crap. Bobby Petrino is a very good playcaller and he has pretty good weapons. His OL is a problem much like the Gators OL is. Petrino waved the white flag before the 4th quarter started
    • This game is truly about one thing: Can the Florida DL stuff the Bama run and get pressure on McCarron? The second level guys for Florida are a step down.
    • Stop comparing the defenses to each other. Bama's is significantly better. All 5 of Bama's DBs in the nickel are pro guys. At least two of the LBs are as well. Mosley would be another pro LB but he may not play.
    • Jessie Williams for Bama is getting better every week on the DL
    • McCarron is doing what the staff wants him too and doing it pretty well.
    • If Bama gets to 17 they win. I think they get 27 and win pretty easily. This is the best defense I have seen under Saban at Bama. This secondary is scary good and the whole defense tackles very well.

If you expect all players to perform the same as seniors as they do as freshman and sophmore then you will lose a lot of games. I think its pretty obvious this offense fits Rainey and Demps much better than the previous version when they were the 3rd or 4th option. They are the main option now. The Gators have the best 1-2 running back punch in the country and they just happen to be the two fastest players on the field come Saturday night. Does this gurantee a Florida win? No. However it will be the first time Alabama has ever seen this kind of speed coming at them from the backfield coordinated by arguably the best offensive coordinator in the game. Continue to discount Florida if you want but they will give Alabama all they can handle and its a field goal game either way. 6 points is a gift

I get the deep impression that you haven't watched Florida play much if hardly at all with some of the comments you make. Almost as if you are saying things you hope are true to make you feel more confident about your favorite team winning the game rather than discussing it as a capper and actually… capping the game

The Florida offense is much more than swing passes, UK took them away immediately from the first snap and Brantley made the reads and threw hit the intermediate routes and to the TE. Weis IS the difference and the fact that you think the UF offense is so simple minded in scheme alone shows either you have no respect for Weis as a play caller and offensive genius or just don't know much about him. The OL for UF this year is and will continue to be a STRENGTH, the OL has been very solid in pass protection and the run game especially.. Those guys are growing up very fast and they have two guys that were not playing last year that are veterans. Floridas defense is indeed not as good as Bamas but there is no gigantic drop offs, UF Bama and LSU have the best 3 defenses in the country and you can see that just by watching them play and the personnel, the only problem with UF but what is scary for the future of how dominant they will be is the youth and the depth.. That is the main difference between the other two from the Gators.

The best team you have played is Tennessee. I saw what you did to KENTUCKY...they suck and you beat the hell out of them every year. Weiss is very good but he is no better than Petrino and the WR's and QB at Arkansas are better than Brantley and his WR's. Florida's LBs are middle of the pack and the Gator secondary is suspect. This is a bad matchup for Florida IMO. I believe that your OL will be a problem this week.
