festo I guess the other 55 teams that came into OU thought they had the same chance. You keep talking about Tech offense but you overlook the best OU offense and possibly best Qb OU had ever had against a team that OU pourous defense EVERY YEAR shuts down playing at home. Ask Nebraska which Tech was lucky to beat if they thought they could stop OU. OU is going to run and pass all over Tech defense. They arent playing SMU and Umass Saturday. The difference between the Kstate and Nebraska game is OU plays their starters ALL GAME so they wont stop at 55 at halftime or the 3rd qtr at 60 they will pour it on. OU at home with the potential number 1 pick in the draft running our offense. Yea I think I will take that to the bank chief.

trich - I agree with all you say.  Bradford is the nuts and he will go higher than Harrell in the draft, much better NFL prospect.  I just think that the fact that Tech has played in two 7pm national games back to back is going to give them an edge, regardless of OU huge homefield advantage.   Stoops and OU do not seem to be at their best under the spotlight - look at the recent bowl record.  I am taking Tech and the points....

I attended the Tex  TT game , First play of the game Tex suffered a safety  TT 2-0,I also thought the Ok St game would be a lot closer than it was.
Last year TT -Minn bowl game was the second largest margin overcome for a win in history of college ball, 43 unanswered points.
For the last 4 years TT was strictly an offense that could score the last points.
No more: they now have a running game and a decent defense..I do not think the Ok secondary can stop this offence..

No love for my Red Raiders.  That's fine, eveyone has talked $hit all year and been wrong, what's another week.  By the way, OU and UT don't make the Big 12 Championship.  OU loses to OSU in Stillwater and UT gets upset by Texas A&M one more time!

Let me give you a lesson in college football. HOME FIELD MEANS EVERYTHING!!! That is why its a joke Florida is in the top 5 when they lost to a four loss team at home. If you lose at home you dont deserve to play for a NC period.

this is a ridiculously ignorant post... how can you say stat comparison of common opponents is "the most retarded thing I have seen on this site"?

i watched the OU-K St game... that is where i definitively jumped OFF the OU bandwagon... i was appalled at how horrible their defense was... and don't say shit about that game being over at halftime... even up 55-28 at halftime, that game was NOT over...

OU was up 28-7 after the first quarter and let K St tie the game midway through the 2nd... their defense has been a joke since Reynolds went out!  anybody who had money on OU in that game (myself included) was more than lucky to cash that ticket... OU is a sham... that much i know... if they win this and get into a BCS game against a legit team with a defense, they will go down hard... Tx Tech on the other hand is a team nobody should want to face...

homefield gives OU a big edge, but Tech is WITHOUT QUESTION the better football team (and yes, the better QB)...

and i am NOT a fan of either team... this is an objective opinion...

Let me give you a lesson in college football. HOME FIELD MEANS EVERYTHING!!! That is why its a joke Florida is in the top 5 when they lost to a four loss team at home. If you lose at home you dont deserve to play for a NC period.

festo man your handicapping skills and how you evaluate games really needs work no offense but tech played both of those games AT HOME; they got up on Texas early and still should have lost that game; as far as the OSU game; just like OU owns Tech; Tech owns OSU; look at history OSU always loses to Tech; and I dont think you want to go to who is the better big game coach; OU isnt playing in the Sun bowl every year they are playing in BCS bowls because they win BIG GAMES in the regular season and they win the Big XII; tell me other than Texas this year a BIG GAME Tech has won; yes OU hasnt looked wildly impressive but I think I would rather play in a BCS bowl then play in the Humanitarian bowl like Tech does and get their ass handed to them by Texas and OU every year. Do me a favor tell me one BIG GAME Tech has won on the road in the last 10 years. I will give you a hint the answer is less than 1.

wedington... you are definitely right about OSU beating OU in two weeks... part of me hopes OU wins this game just so i can get a gift line to bet against them with the Cowboys... that is OSU's superbowl every year, and they have a bye week to get ready...

people talking about "if OU beats Tx Tech they will leap Texas and make the Big 12 championship" need to give it a rest... OU will go down in flames against the Cowboys...

trich... you put WAY too much stock in homefield... as if it is impossible for a road team to win a game in CFB...

Festo's handicapping of this game looks dead on!

i honestly don't see OU stopping Tx Tech's offense EVER... only Tech will stop their offense... K St shredded that team, and not just in garbage time... OU got 5 TO's in that game, and most of them were completely unforced... they were genuinely lucky to get a win, despite what the scoreboard said... any team that gets ripped to shreds has SERIOUS defensive issues...

if you are an OU fan, you need to be hoping that OU does not get into a BCS game, where they will be embarrassed before the nation...

i am not sure if I love the discussion or if it is pulling my initial lean to pieces.

books want money on TT...line is very high...who wouldn't take TT -6 or -7 originally...NUMBER 2 IN THE COUNTRY GETTING 7 POINTS!

Take it to the house?  No sir.

If you want to win money on this game, you play Oklahoma.  That is only my opinion and my logic is based upon the line they gave us.  That's it.  Stupid reasoning...most definitely.  Profitable?  We'll see....

lobo - thanks for the backup.    while trich has some valid points, especially about home field advantage, some times history becomes meaningless.   look at ND last year and Michigan this year.   if all you followed was history you would have gotten killed betting on them.   different year, different Tech team with a defense and that offensive line is like Fort Knox...OU may certainly win this game but I think it is unwise to bet the farm on a historical precedent of Tech getting handled in Norman.   history changes....the other thing to look at is running game.  OU's running game has been absent this year while Tech has been solid and consistent....

Do you guys make this stuff up just to write something? OU was lucky to beat Kstate; they scored 55 points in the FIRST HALF! Then they shut it down they could have scored 100 on them. And are you freakin kidding me about who's rushing game is better hahahahaahahha; Tech has no rushing game they are 74th in the nation; OU is 24th. If you want to lie to yourself to talk yourself into Tech go ahead and I love how you keep talking about how Tech wont be stopped well guess what OU is the number 1 SCORING team in the nation not Tech and they have a running game to boot. I still never got that answer about that road game that Tech has won in the last 10 years. I will just give you the answer its zero.

Yea I did; OU scored 55 pts in the first half then only passed the ball 6 times in the 2nd half and put in their 2nd stringers on defense. I think you are confusing Kstate defense not OU's. There is a reason they only scored 3 pts in the 2nd half. The game was over at halftime and you better hope Tech scores more than 40 because OU is Averaging 47 pts in the FIRST HALF in their last 3 games. Tech couldnt score over 40 at home against Texas and now they are supposed to put up 40 on the road. That wont even be enough. I still havent got an answer about one road win Tech has in 10 years and as far as Tech getting respect you have to win big games consistently not 1 game against Texas every 20 years to be considered contenders. Tech win one game on the road and it cant be against Northeastern or Umass.

why are you talking about the last 10 years... when was Tx Tech anywhere close to where they are now???  Missou hadn't won in Lincoln in 30 years prior to this year... Navy had lost 43 in a row against ND prior to last year... history doesn't mean shit unless the status quo remains the same... and it isn't the same this year... please at least admit that much, otherwise everything you are saying is completely lacking objectivity...

K States defense is one of the worst i've seen this year... i was calling them out after the Louisville game and have won lots of money betting agaisnt them... this is NOT Kansas St we are talking about... and the whole point of discussing the KSt - OU game is to discuss the OU defense... to be talking up your team because they shredded the KSt defense means nothing... the issue is what KSt did against OU's defense... putting up 28 in the first half...

"Tech couldn't score over 40 at home against Texas"... that's because Texas knows how to play defense...

"OU is averaging 47 pts in the FIRST HALF in the last 3 games"... that would be impressive if it wasn't against K St, Tx A&M and Nebraska...

there is ONE advantage that goes to OU in this game, and that is homefield... just don't see that being enough to lay a TD...

by the way, i have two questions for you:

    1) are the Sooners "your team"?
    2) who do you think is the best player in college football (not necessarily the Heisman winner, but the best single football player)?

your answers to these questions will tell me if there is any reason to listen to a word you say...

I was actually right on with the line..I thought OU would be -5 to -6.....(now if I could predict winners like that!).  I think OU wins this game...but IF this line gets to 7, I am going to have to take Tech...their D is vastly improved, and their O line may likely be the BEST O line the Sooners have faced this year...if Harrel is on target, it is going to be a slugfest....if Tech can protect him, I think they cover..if OU can get pressure on him (someway?), OU will cover (easily I think)...I do know there is NO way I will touch an UNDER in this game..even if it climbs all the way to 80!

My team is the team that has the best chance of covering the spread. Tim Tebow is probably the best college player but I also think the regular season means ALOT and if you lose AT HOME to a 4 loss team especially since the SEC is terrible this year you shouldnt play for the NC. The best O line OU has play or will play is Texas. OU has ONLY one advantage hmmmmm I can think of a few lets see a better QB, they can actually run the ball which is important; home field where they destroy teams and yes history means something because OU plays Tech every year and they know how to defend them that is why its important. Oh I forgot one last advantage they are the NUMBER 1 SCORING OFFENSE in the nation but I guess none of that matters huh. One last thing I bet you Tech thought Nebraska was pretty good since Tech was lucky as sh*^ to beat them AT HOME IN OVERTIME. Ganz was 36-44 for 349 yards and 2 tds in the game at Tech; Nice Defense Tech; and now you get to face Bradford who may be the number 1 pick in the draft. OUCH!!

i wish you had posted this idiotic statement first so i could have saved the time wasted reading the rest...

    1) Bradford will most likely not enter the draft this year...

    2) if he does, he has a 0% chance of going #1, and almost a 0% chance of going in the first round...

    3) will 100% for sure be drafted later than Graham Harrell...

    4) the correct answer to who is the best player in college football (beyond a shadow of a doubt), is also your answer to who will be drafted #1... Michael Crabtree...

if he does not get drafted #1, whoever holds the #1 pick needs to fire their Athletic Director...

your comment about Bradford being the #1 pick in the NFL draft exposed you bigtime!  he's an outstanding college QB, but is a longshot to ever start for an NFL team...

Lobo - You are just a T.Tech homer.

    Common opponents this year -

    OU @ K State 58-35     TT @K State 58-28

OU vs Kansas 45-31     TT @ Kansas  63-21

OU vs Neb. 62-28         TT vs Neb 37-31 OT

OU vs Texas 35-45       TT vs Texas 39-33

    OU @ Tam  66-28        TT @ Tam 43-25

Looks like the points scored by common opponents are pretty similar but OU scored more on Offense.

    OU 1st in Scoring O (51.4 ppg)   TT 3rd in scoring O (48 ppg)

OU 57th in scoring D, allowing 24 ppg. TT is 46th in scoring D, allowing 22 ppg

    Playing in Norman.

Admittedly I am an OU homer, but looking at the body of work for both teams and comparing scores against similar opponents and the HUGE home field for OU, this should be a Sooner win.

    BOOMER!!!!

I dont know why I respond to homers who dont know how to cap or know anything about the NFL. Crabtree is good but he is noooooooo Calvin Johnson and Tech Qbs are system qbs thats why they stink in the NFL. Bradford plays in a pro style offense and every publication says Bradford is a top 3 pick. Harrell may go in the 3rd or 4th round and Bradford already announced that is he is going. The difference between me and you is I speak facts you just talk about homer opinions that make you look foolish. Like I said its impossible when you talk to homers that dont know anything. And I love how people like to say to how OU is horrible in bowls. I agree they have played poorly in BCS bowls but I think Tech would trade playing for 3 NC and 5 BCS bowls than the Humanitarian bowl and beat NC State every year like always. Really impressive.
