I agree with Ball Picker on one thing... prevent defense is never a good idea.  There was what a couple minutes in the game.  All prevent defense did was allow UTAH to score a last minute TD.  What is the point of running up the score for style points if you are going to give it back.  Play your game and if they score quick on a big play so be it because you are going to win anyway.  Prevent defense makes no sense under any circumstances.

What I bet on was TCU -7 after a 38-10 first half and Utah having 3 first downs and about 100 yards of offense. That is what I bet on. That is an EASY cover UNLESS a team mails that shit in, and chances of that happening after that team has run up the score the last 4 weeks of play, they need style points, CGD is there etc. isn't great. Also, TCU moved the ball at will and held Utah to basically they nothing. Then they give up a 1:20 second TD drive with 4:00 minutes left in the game. All of this happens when the WORLD is on TCU -7 for the 2H.

The other game: Are you telling me you accounted for a Cal 61 yard TD run when Cal just had to kneel down to run the clock out while NOT covering the spread? Then all of the sudden they don't just run it, but the Zona defenese splits opens, has ZERO safties back and it's a 61 yard TD for a Cal cover, while a crap ton of money was on Zona.


Honestly, sometimes I start theses threads because I have a superstiscion that seems to come through which is: When I get negative and say shit isn't going to happen, it happens....or vice versa. That was more or less the reason this thread was started. However, after seeing what went down and how it went down, you can't tell me that Vegas doesn't have some of these schools (especially smaller conference schools) on line 1 and on speed dial. Why let Utah march down on you when you're looking and needing style points and you have held them to almost nothing all night? c'mon, man.

from the perspective of someone who had TCU (-20.5) for the game... i think you are not being very objective here... you made a bad halftime bet in my opinion... i was covering my game bet at halftime, but i still knew i would have to sweat it out until the end, because Utah was never going to quit playing, even trying an onside kick down by 27 with 4:00 to go...

bad bet... and the shady fix theory doesn't hold water, because there was 10 times as much money on this game as their was on the 2H line... and seeing as how the line moved from 16.5 to 21, clearly that money was on TCU... so why would there be so much concern about the 2H line but nobody cares about fixing the pointspread for the game?

Sometimes you guys are taking things too literal. I didn't really think TCU was going to let Utah score that last TD, but I said it anyway because like I said, it's more or less a superstition. I also said "I'm going to keep bitching until this game is over."......in case you didn't see that.

It's not a huge blow. I just had TCU -7 for 2H in a freaking parlay that I needed. However, I also took the Over 23.

I lost that 2nd half as well. Gary Patterson said after last year's 2nd half playcalling when his Frogs were shutout, that he would never be that conservative again.

I thought this was a perfect spot for TCU to avenge what happened in last years game by just laying the wood in the final two quarters.

 I guess I was wrong.

Now on a serious note: How could somebody honestly say TCU -7 2H was the wrong bet? Were you able to see the game? Utah had less than 200 yards of total offense up until the mid part of the 4th Quarter. The only time Utah did anything on offense was when TCU let them. And the only time TCU did anything on defense was whenever the hell they felt like it.

-7 2H was the right side. It just so happens that TCU decided to more or less roll over and 'not look bad' by scoring every drive like they did in the 1st Half. They were still playing against the same defense, ya know. Plus I'm sure a LOT of those people that took TCU for the game, were people that laid a lot of money on TCU -7 for the 2H. And a decent amount was laid on it since the number moved off of 7 during half time.

ANYWAY, I explained why I started the thread. The game is over. It's cool. I got screwed back to back games and both were fishy as hell. I have Oregon -10.5 going for 1H and the Over 51 going for this game, along with that TCU / Utah Over 23 for the 2H in a parlay. So I'm ok. I promise. Pittsburgh just came in for a money winner as well. Next time I start one of these superstition threads, just join in and test out my reverse psychology theory.
