Yup, the game is probably over by halftime.
Yup, looking like it. Bama looks lost.
@blowoutgm
no doubt alabama can come back. but i wont feel bad if i look like an idiot if bama comes back.
my contention is with his comments about how alabama would win not the pick. men vs boys, dominating in the trenches. just going against everything both teams have done this season. completely disingenuous.
he is well respected here and if he can sway someone as good as you imagine the others. of course we all have to responsible for our own bets, but because of his status and reputation here he should be more responsible himself.

Was bummed to see you hedge but knew Jimmy’s confidence swayed you which is understandable. You were on Hoosiers for over a week now ![]()

@artstew
???? I was being respectful. I’ve been on Indiana since 10 seconds after the line came out.
I never count a game over/won until the clock winds down.

If I wasn’t so heavily invested I wouldn’t have backed off. If Indy covers I still do well but my bookie is breathing easier right now! Lol

Nobodies fault but mine. Back in the day when Bama/LSU were going at each other he gave me some good insight. I’ll never blame anyone else for my decisions. Still lots of game left!

Wtf was that? No disrespect. Thought u knew the team very well ? With contacts inside the program ? We have all been blindsided as such, but that was a huge variance from the game expectations you laid out. Dramatic deviation in basic fundamental skill sets,talents one uses to appraise potential,outlook as you outlined Game probabilities. Go Dawgs!

I just spend like 30 minutes writing up a post, then hit F10 instead of the backspace key, and deleted the whole thing.
Unreal! I will re-write and post.

PART 1
First of all, a very well-deserved congratulations to IU, Coach Cignetti and all IU backers! GREAT JOB! ![]()
![]()
This was a complete domination and a thorough embarrassment of Alabama from start to finish. The game was never in doubt, and was essentially over by halftime.
Curt Cignetti
Having grown up in the Northern Virginia area, I am very familiar with, and generally root for Virginia college teams. Many of the people I graduated with (I had over 500 people in my graduating class) went to schools like JMU and Virginia Tech, so I follow and root for these programs. One guy I played and graduated with played guard for JMU.
After taking the Alabama job, Curt Cignetti was one of Saban’s original hires (Cignetti successfully recruited Julio Jones). After leaving Alabama, Cignetti popped back up on my radar when JMU hired him as their head coach in 2019. When he was hired by IU, I shared his “Google me” press conference with everyone I knew, and have followed his Indiana journey very closely.
Even though I was very familiar with Cignetti, I would be lying if I didn’t admit that what he has accomplished at Indiana in such a short time has not only surprised me, but has shocked the entire college football world. What he has done is completely unprecedented in college football history and, in my mind, exceeds even what Nick Saban accomplished. Saban did it by using the Alabama brand name to recruit superior talent, and then beat you down by getting his superior talent to play assignment sound football. That combination was almost unbeatable. Cignetti, however, had no brand name behind him, and has produced Saban-like results with much less talent.

PART 2
Why I Liked Alabama
These days I am very selective about what I wager on, and I only placed about 10 bets college football games all season (mostly UDML plays). The only two bets I made on Alabama this season was when I faded them in both Georgia games.
Being aspect of being a successful gambler, we can even throw fantasy football in there as well, is timing. Football is the ultimate team game, and we see almost every week where a less-talented team beats a more talented team. While that is the exception, it is still something that happens on a regular basis. We see it happen in almost all sports where a team gets hot down the stretch and wins a championship. My Alabama play was a timing play – an attempt to ride the timing wave to victory.
It is a fact the Alabama was absolutely decimated with injuries the last two months of the season, so it would make sense that those injuries to key players would cause their performance on the field to suffer. I, therefore, as well as many other people close to the Alabama program felt Alabama struggles and inconsistent play was largely due to the rash of injuries. Makes sense. After the SEC Championship Game debacle, Alabama started to get one injured player back after another, including 5* DT LT Overton. With Alabama being rested and finally healthy, I can tell you that people inside the Alabama building were brimming with confidence in the lead up to the IU game. I was feeding off of that optimism emanating from the Alabama program.
Another fact is that Alabama, on paper, is a much more talented team than IU. They are faster, and significantly larger. Then, when you factor in that Alabama was being completely disrespected by the fans, media and Vegas, everything was adding up for Alabama to put it all together and play their best game of the season. What we had was a more talented, rested, healthy, and thoroughly disrespected Alabama team that should have been chewing on nails in anticipation of taking the fight to IU, and punching them in the mouth. I am a treches guy, and I thought Alabama would win in the trenches, and use their size to wear Indiana down over the course of the game. That Alabama came out as flat-footed as they did under these conditions points to how poorly coached this team is. Coaches need to be fired, and I am afraid my friend may be one of them.
Obviously this analysis it blew up spectacularly in my face, but these were all the reasons why I loved Alabama in this match-up. I apologize to anyone who followed what turned out to be an absolute horrendous play.
