Nebraska vs Purple Iowa , keep the points give me Purple Iowa straight up

This is a broken man. Teams always follow the temperament of the head coach, this is a broken team. Has nothing to with talent , they don’t believe they can win. I don’t like the attitude of Scott frost going into this game, he’s treating it like it’s just a regular road game and told his team “We didn’t earn this , this isn’t a bowl game”. Is he factually correct sure, but the players aren’t fighting for their life , he is. For Many of these young men this will be their first and last time out of the country and he is treating this like their playing in Des Moines. He is tight , and they will for sure play tight. Pat Fitz on the other hand is embracing this trip to Ireland and I think they will play loose. Casey Thompson isn’t awful but as crazy as this sounds I don’t think he’s better than Martinez, with a new O.C that philosophically has a different approach than what Nebraska wants to be (run the damn ball) . Keep in mind this will be an adjustment for whipple, who I would argue is an average to slightly above average playcaller who  had an exceptional year with a 5th year qb and the best wr in college And you want me to believe they are going to figure this out in Ireland. I’ve seen this script before , give me purple Iowa. I don’t think they will win this game, I just think Nebraska will loose it.

 Yeah I agree… this game scares the heck out of me… adjusting to a new OC and playing in another continent…totally staying away..plus I think Thompson will be a drastic improvement but not for a couple games at least… I am going heavy on orange Iowa though vs Brown Iowa… thoughts on that game?

Orange vs brown. This is the Spider-Man meme where they say “hey your me”. They do the exact same thing , have the exact same philosophy, orange Iowa just has better recruits. They both will huddle and use all of the playclock, keep the ball on the ground, and they both will by in large settle for field goals if ever they are in the redzone. I like the first half under for sure but I may even take the whole game under as well. It forced to take a side I would be on brown iowa.

 Appreciate it Lou… only reason I’m on orange is Wyoming got decimated by the portal and lost several key players while Illinois still has several play makers returning and I trust them just a hair more with Belimia at home..

After waxing them 56 - 7 Husker lost next 6 but only one by more than a td & that was by 9 to Ohio St.

N.W. lost next 7 and never crossed goal line more than twice in any of those, did they lose their starting qb?

A neutral field is one thing but when that field is across the pond thats a horse of a different color.

 All fair points but I want you to keep this in mind. Nebraska is the only team playing week 0/1, who can lose their ENTIRE season, in the opener. No other coach is under this pressure. I do no think purple Iowa will win this game. I do however think Nebraska will lose it.

 Good point… same division too…plus new OC for Nebraska… and if whipper was such a great coordinator… why didn’t he dominate the other 5 years Picket was there… I think a lot of Pickets success was same team for half a decade and that team benefited from a lot of veteran leadership…plus what REAL weapons does Nebraska have?

 Thompson is a lot better than he showed last year.  He hurt his thumb against OU and was never the same.  Because his back up was not that great, CT played the rest of the year trying to pass with an injured thumb.  It was obvious all season that his passing game was off and I attribute that to a chronic problem with his thumb.  A better evaluation of CT came in the Texas bowl game against Colorado.  Ehlinger was injured, CT started and threw 4 td including several deep throws on the money.  I think Nebraska got a steal in the portal but it may take a few games before the payoff for Nebraska comes through.

 Fair enough. I went to a few longhorn forums to see how they responded to him hitting the portal, it was an 80/20 split. 20 were saying what you were as far as his injuries, 80 was saying good riddance. I think it’s a red flag he didn’t want to stay and compete for a job he started and played well last year. He looked scary in the spring game, balls were misplaced and he had horrid pocket presence. On top of this being his 3rd offensive system in 3 consecutive seasons, not only do they not know what he is, he doesn’t know what he is he hasn’t had time in any system to figure out. I would also add , Frost did not poach whipple, whipple was done with narduzzi and was actually retiring before Frost desperately reached out. 

Could you guys please speak English?  Purple Iowa?  Orange Iowa?  Brown Iowa?  

there is a timeless shot of frank beamer jumping for pure elation when they tied 0-0 with wake forest at the end of regulation in 2014.  Basically any coach you can picture winning a single digit ball game and legitimately being proud of his team, not just saying but a true Ear to ear smile. iowa football is a philosophical approach to the game. Ball control , time of possession, huddle use all of the playclock, flip the field, good defense and they want a rock fight game. So the list goes ….. 1. Northwestern- purple iowa

2. Wisconsin -red iowa

3. Kansas St - silver iowa

4. Minnesota- maroon iowa

5. Cal - blue iowa

6. Wyoming - brown iowa

7. Illinois - orange iowa

8. Stanford - private iowa

9. San Diego st- iowa west 

10. Pittsburg- gold iowa,  Narduzzi actually called whipple stubborn for throwing so much even though the play call was 50/50. At his core he is iowa , don’t let last season fool you.

 Basically any team that uses a vanilla game plan…prioritizes run game and defense…  

What do they need to figure out? How to beat a team they ripped off big plays over and over on last year in a 50 point rout? How to beat a team who cant score points?

NW averaged LESS than a FG in the 3rd quarter last year. FGs are even scarce for them cuz they ranked dead last in FG percentage. And dead last in scoring in the conference.

The crazy thing is, Nebraska actually played a near good first half

I took the under at 52, not looking good.   Neb gives up a big TD on blown coverage SMH.   And 1st Neb TD was great coverage but a nice catch(lucky) lead to another TD.  I'm hoping for a 0-0 3rd qt.  Won't happen tho.

Yeah Nebraska doesn’t not look good on D… loss of Cam-Brit and Jojo is hurting them… but Offense is gonna be good this year..Hilinski also looks better than expected… Neb still may win this game but definitely not cover..
