nice to hear from a Horns fan...
only reason i like this one:
wyo not a great wk1 team
wyo not much DEF
wyo not great vs teams with run game+DEF
i like TEX but not over -25, i will not give the 31...

QB - I agree with you and hornyfrog. Like HF, I have lost on Texas as well. I think 25 and better is a good number. I doubt it will be that low. But, if it is, I may jump on it as well. I think Ash will be a more confident QB this year. Shipley and Davis should be good at WR, in Harsin's 2nd year. Our RB's, at least on paper, could be the best in the Nation. Our OL has gotten "more SEC like" meaning tougher. Our D should be lights out. As a UT Homer, I have decided to lay off UT until the Ole Miss game in week 3. But, if 25 and under, I will take my Longhorns. As Corley pointed out in an earlier thread, Wyoming has had major problems stopping the run. I doubt Wyoming will score more than 7. I think Texas will score a TD on its first 4 possessions. But, Mack Brown is a nice guy. Christenesen is a good coach and his players will play for him to the bitter end. Those two factors scare me for a potential back door cover. In my opinion, as bad as Texas as underachieved for the last 2 years, there should be no mercy on any one...we won't be back (to Texas standards) unless we go at least 11-1 in 2012.

exactly, and in those down years vs.wyo : 41-10, 34-7...
this isnt in my top 10 but deserves a longhorn look...

Nebraska -13 over S Miss. 20 June 2012
I have heard from DUFL that this line has already gone to 14 on 5 Dimes as of 19 June 2012. S Miss returns 6 O and 4 D from a 12-2 team that was 9-5 ATS and won the Hawaii Bowl. The key loss is 4 year starter Austin Davis. If you watched the Hawaii bowl, he was the undisputed leader of the team. He through for almost 3500 yards with 30 TD and 11 interceptions. AM also loses its top 2 WR's Balentine and Bolden. They return their top 4 rushers. I think the loss of Davis and loss of key experience on D will facilitate a rebuilding year. In addition Ellis Johnson takes over form Guy Fedora. Thus, new HC, new systems, loss of key experience = a step back based on the merits.
Nebraska returns T Martinez, Burkhead and 7 of 8 top receivers. Nebraska has 7 O and 7 D returning starters. This is Pelini's 4th year. They do lose Carl Pelini, but from Longhorn perspective, losing this hothead maybe not be detrimental. They promoted from within with Papuchis so it won't be a new system or a drop-off. A lot of pundits believe Nebraska has underachieved on D the last few years. They come into this game with a chip on their shoulders, but also aspire to win the Legends Division of the Big 10. Nebraska comes in with a one of the top OLines and DLines in the Big 10. They also have a highly rated secondary. I have heard that T Martinez worked with some California based QB guru, but the jury is still out. If TM could threaten with the pass along with Bulkhead’s grinding it out and TM's potential to take it to the house on keepers, this could be a respectable Nebraska O. In addition, Nebraska is coming off a humiliating loss to Lattimoreless South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl.
Summary
Note - the spring game was cancelled due to weather, so there are some unknowns out there. We don't get to see it and neither does the books cappers.
He game will start at 2:30 CST in Lincoln. I think this is an opening volley for Pellini. They travel to UCLA the next week, so that may be on their minds, but I don't think it will be a distraction. Nebraska seems to have the motivation, Without Davis, with new schemes, at Lincoln, with a loss of 7 starters on D, I think S Miss is going to have its hands full. Pellini, love or hate him is a respectable 38-16 over 4 years at Nebraska. I think Nebraska will make a statement in this game and wear down a talented, but inexperienced S Miss squad
My prediction.
Nebraska 31
S Miss 10
As of 20 June 2012, this is my #1 pick for Week 1...

on paper, it would seem like a fairly easy SC cover -9 at Vandy...but if I recall Vandy has played SC tough...the game is Thursday night at Vendy on national team, with Franklin and his posse of assistants who have "hot" wives, I think SC will win, but it may be relatively close...this is a no play for me, though i did give it consideration. good luck...

very funny,
clemson and mich st are ur easy covers for wk1?
If u haven't noticed me and longhorn got about 10 games each that were looking at.
not tryn to clown u but, there are way easier faves to side with than MICH ST and CLEM.
matter fact S.car owns vandy and has a better chance at covering than both of ur plays.
AUB/CLEM : dont be fooled by LY, AUB wins 28-20.
MICH ST/BOISE ST : dont be fooled broncos will be fired up! state wins 17-13.

just looking at this -13 @ NEB, usually a non-AQ gets way more points when visiting, they must be getting love for going to a bowl LY. NEB usually beats non-AQ by 20 or more. SO.miss breaking in a new starter at QB in LINCOLN?!?! this could get ugly. i also noticed that so.miss has been a DD dogg on the road vs BCS teams and failed to cover.

its the 21st, lets talk GEO/BUFF
here's the notes i gathered:
GEORGIA
The Bulldogs are rebuilding their offensive line after losing center Ben Jones and tackles Cordy Glenn and Justin Anderson from a 10-4 team.
"Their progress from week one to now has been unbelievable," Murray said. "They're giving me plenty of time to throw the ball. Running lanes are opening up for the running backs, so you've got to give credit to those guys. They're taken on the challenge of going against maybe two of three first-round picks in next year's draft."Linebacker Jarvis Jones, who last year led the SEC and ranked fifth nationally with 13 1-2 sacks last season, believes Georgia will weather the early-game losses in the secondary.
BUFFaLO
It's understandable that there are going to be some growing pains with two new defensive coaches, including a new coordinator. The defense is still clearly adjusting to Coach Tepper and Coach Linguist. The Defensive Backs were pretty unimpressive.
I love the direction Alex Wood is taking the offense. You just can't have a high powered passing offense with the quarterbacks on the roster.
