While I applaud Auburn for winning a down sec this year, they'll get no credit from me for only outscoring Chattanooga & Arky St. 114-50. Talk about scheduling shitty competition.
I didnt start the thread. Was just trying to show that it happens in every conference smartass.

I the Big 10 certaintly dosen't think the SEC is down this year. The SEC EAST was down this year, no the SEC as a whole. Four 10 wins teams in the West alone, not to mention the NC contender. Oh yeah and the 5th best team was 9-4.

agree with lsueddie what the SEC east is down some, the west is better
auburn has #4 strenght of schedule and earns a couple cupcakes, oregon played portland st and new mexico and they're no better and then get to face Wash St, UCLA, Arizona...we've seen how Arizona would do in the big 12 last couple years
sure it would be great to see Alabama go to eugene where Oregon could compete with any team...as long as they have a home and home then the ducks would have a lot of problems in tuscaloosa, auburn, baton rouge, don't let 2nd half Tenn fool you (very young team at the time, no QB, still ran the ball well), oregon on neutral or road is not the same team, similar to when everyone said no way Ohio St would compete last year in rose bowl (not to forget opener against boise scoring zero in 3 Qs)..barring a win tomorrow night ducks do their best work against P10

Tell it like it is. You smooth.
This is a one game scenario, not a travel through a murderous SEC schedule--and it would be tough and stressful on any team to deal with.
I don't feel this one game is a good matchup for Auburn, to face an offensive showcase team. Oregon does not have to play a perfect game to win. If I put Cam Newton on that TENN team calling signals, I think we are looking at a closer game, that's all--still a Duck W.

Oregon is ranked 14th in the nation in scoring defense. Auburn is 54th.
Granted Auburn played LSU, Alabama, Clemson. Not exactly high scoring offenses, and all of these had troubles and issues this season--LSU at QB, Alabama on the O-line, and Clemson just could not put points on the board all season. Plus there were three games mentioned earlier vs Southern Conf and Sun Belt schools--which should pad their stats.
This statisticof scoring defense needs to be understood for what it's worth. Key stops is what this game will come down to in the end.

QL, I resonded to your post in Jimmydafreak's thread...
I just read yours here, and as a "yankee" resident (from Ohio) here in the South, I agree comletely with what you say about the SEC non conference scheduling. For the most part they seem to be happy beating their chests saying 'we are the greatest' but I have said for a long time that I wish they would schedule a late season home and home with ANY Big 10 school just to see how they would fare in some cold weather. I used to LOVE playing in the elements, and to me it's part of what makes football a great game.
As we speak, snow is covering the South, and they all freak out..it's really pretty funny as long as you don't need to go anywhere. 2 inches of snow equals everyone here driving 15mph with the hazard lights going!
Anyway, GL and enjoy the game tonight.

I agree about watching games in the elements. Nature was meant to be part of football. Maybe one of the few American sports that includes it in the game. I don't believe however it is all about the cold weather why the SEC avoids scheduling the BIG10 and other conferences.
The SEC has a ton of self-interest in the big upstairs offices, and that is fine really. They have helped produce great champions like (in my mind)92 and 2009 Alabama programs--and very glad they sealed the deal last year.
I think (unproven only hearsay) that the SEC commisioners are negging these home and homes and they are not getting approved vs the better teams that "have a chance to win." In other words, the SEC commissioners and lawyers basically handicap the teams from another conference and will strike down a proposal if a loss is on the horizon. OK, why not? They are there to protect their conference. It is their job, as they see it, to protect the interests of the SEC, not spread fan base or expose any school to a loss. There is much to gain for the other conference (BIG10 for example) with a win. Last few years So Cal had not been succesful scheduling SEC teams (Pete Carroll the loudest critic, although he should not be revealing the inner workings of the scheduling--it is a closed door voting of the conference commissioners.) It was an undefeated Auburn who publically disrespected the national champioship of USC. Yet their own conference is blocking the scheduling between them. So goes the argument. I think it is ok to have these emotions before the game, and help build the tension for the game itself. Let it be. Now these two conferences are facing each other fair and square on a neutral field in primetime America. This is a true National Championship (minus the playoff games but still a definite champion as you can have).
I will enjoy the game, and watch every minute of it. Same to you

Thanks, dude. aside: I recognize that photo as some sort of writer or philosopher or something....right? That ain't you is it?
D-Town's picture is of Richard Feynman... one of the greatest teachers of Quantum Physics who ever lived... and unless D-Town is posting from the beyond... no, it isn't him...

incidentally, anyone who has ever been interested in Quantum Theory but was too intimidated... read Feynman's book: Six Easy Pieces... succinct, well-written and accessible to anyone with a little bit of intelligence and the desire to learn...
