its just some dont need 2 blocked FG's at the end to sneak out a W

1st game of the season and those two blocks were something that had never been done before. And that turned out to be indicative of a great team finding ways to win.

......I'm not trying to say that Iowa doesn't have a better SOS than Cincy but bowl bound teams? Rutgers, Fresno, Oregon State, South Florida will all go to bowls.....So will UCONN, WVU, and Pitt.  Theres 7 bowl teams

I was talking about bowl teams already played. if I add that stat up , Cincy falls way short on that one too.

not saying there all good teams but you asked.  Iowa's .633 winnning percentage is great but keep in mind Penn State has helped with that and they haven't played anyone.

You're trying to sell stupid again by trying to take apart one team. That .633 percentage trumps any spin you could try and put on Ciny's schedule in comparison.

Look you should be in the top 10 but the eye ball test says Cincy by 3tds on a neutral field

Uh huh. I guess that's why Iowa jumped Cincy in the BCS.

Fact is, Iowa is much closer to Texas than Cincy is to Iowa.

Iowa has a better defense? That;s a very close call. Offensive line? They have a terrible running game and a very mediocre passing attack so I'm not sure where that comes from. Granted, they have played a slightly tougher schedule overall, but watching them squeak by Northern Iowa and Arkansas St. on their home field and get very lucky to beat both Michigan and Michigan St. will not convince me they could compete with a dynamic offense like Cincy that can throw and run much better than they can and play defense on a similar level. Cincy would be favored by 7 on a nuetral field and win by 2 touchdowns.

Iowa has a terrible running game and a mediocre passing attack, so I'm not sure how htey have a better offensive line. Also don't see much of an edge on defense. They have played a slightly tougher schedule according to power rankings, but their narrow wins over Northern Iowa and Ark St. on their home field are very unimpressive. They sqeaked by Michigan also on their home filed and everyone knows how lucky they got to win last week on the last play of the game. This team is 2 plays away from being ranked about 35th. They would be 7 point dogs to Cincy and lose by 2 touchdowns on a neutral field, and that;s if they played well and didn't turn the ball over more than a couple times. Cincy runs the ball better, passes it a lot better, and plays very tough defense. If Iowa plays like they did against N Iowa and Ark St. they would get drilled.

Sorry for the extra post, didn't think the first one made it. I may be dead wrong but I think Iowa is one of the worst teams to ever be ranked in the top 10 this late in the season in the last 20 years. I just think they are very average, and if not for a fluke win over Northern Iowa and a last play win last week, they would not even be in the top 20. There are teams not even ranked that would be favored over Iowa at home and that would beat them on any given day, much like Michigan St. who were one play at the end from beating them last week.

Not at all. A defense that includes at least 3 that will be playing on Sundays, one of only 2 Big 10 teams to return the line-backing core intact and nationally ranked in pass defense leading the nation in interceptions, I think.

Running game is in transition with Greene going pro early and his replacement Hampton out in pre season, then Robinson the Freshman out till the Bowl game. Wegher will do fine. He's the fastest honkey I've seen in years and Iowa's line is almost always good, and better this year with at least 2 linemen going pro.

The 1 or 2 times the running game has been shut down, Stanzi has come through.

Granted, they have played a slightly tougher schedule overall,

Not slightly. There is a reason why they jumped Iowa over Cincy in the BCS.

but watching them squeak by Northern Iowa and Arkansas St. on their home field and get very lucky to beat both Michigan and Michigan St. will not convince me they

Good teams find a way to win - 4-6 weeks ago I was agreeing with your sentiment. But Iowa's defense is tough enough that it will keep them in the game, no matter what. Winning on the road like they have has proven that.

could compete with a dynamic offense like Cincy that can throw and run much better than they can and play defense on a similar level. Cincy would be favored by 7 on a nuetral field and win by 2 touchdowns.

There's no way Cincy would be favored by that much, and anyone predicting such spreads is talking out of their ass, just by the fact the last of the schedule has not been played, and that factors in most of all.

Not at all. A defense that includes at least 3 that will be playing on Sundays, one of only 2 Big 10 teams to return the line-backing core intact and nationally ranked in pass defense leading the nation in interceptions, I think.

Offensive line? They have a terrible running game and a very mediocre passing attack so I'm not sure where that comes from.

Hard to argue garbage when it is the great teams that find a way to win EVERY week

This storyline will feed unto itself and carry them if they win out and Texas falls.

    * both teams were picked off today throwing against a massive wind

Cincy would beat Iowa on a neutral field by 7-10 pts.  The only reason anyone doubts Cincy is because they are fairly new in a major conference.  History means shit to me, Cincy is the real deal this year.

Thank you  that couldnt be said any better.....People see the two names and think Iowa would kill a conference USA school.......but if you watch the two teams play you'd realize one team plays hard for 60 minutes the other just gets some lucky breaks

Too bad it would never be a "neutral" field as the Hawk fan base would outnumber Ciny's by about 40,000 people.

It's all irrelevant anyway, it's Iowa and Oregon in the Rose Bowl.

O  your one of those big ten guys that just assumes that a big ten cellar dweller can go into a city school and win no problem.....well we don't play illinois in hoops this year so lonely Illinois will have to stick to playing competitive games in their weak ass conference......now when you come get a taste of the Buckeyes will you please shut the hell up and go away..... your slow you play in shit conditions every week that mask your weaknesses.....when you do play a real team in non-tornado/hurricane/monsoon conditions you will be exposed pray for south carolina in the outback bowl again anything else and you'll be in big trouble

    what a joke

Beating the spread is not a joke. We own the forth quarters. And our record owns any sophomoric spin you keep babbling about.

I also happen to be a Viking fan and know a good team when I see one. And several years from now, I'll be seeing a few more Hawkeyes on Sundays, just like Chad Greenway and Shonn Greene of recent.

The few Cincy players I see will be leaning on the Gatorade bucket trying to impress some cheerleaders.

funny guys like brent celek and trent cole seem to playing on the field

you may own the 4th quarters too bad we own all 4 quarters......you could not keep up with the the pressure our offense puts up for 60 minutes dont get upset few teams can.....enjoy your last easy W at home before you come east for an ass whooping

by the way Cincy is in the top 10 of scoring defense....not sure how your D stacks up against a real offensive team but then again you have only played 1 in Arizona and they were a shell of the team they are now. Must be a great joy to wake up Sundays and know you get to root for brett farve after watching that shit QB Iowa has throw the ball to the other team 3-5 times on Saturday

With grammar like that, your an easy spot for a non graduate.

And with all these lame retorts, it's obvious you are in over your head.

Enjoy another game against another collegiate powerhouse in UCON

Lets see, two fifth rounders against a first and a 3rd rounder?

No wonder you rationalize the way you do and failed school.

Should I bring up all the other current Hawkeyes playing on Sundays?

Even I know you don't wanna go there.
