It's not like the Ducks were scoring at will,  best chance is for something crazy to happen on the FG.

they were on the 21 yard line with 1:50 (and you can expect them to at least get 5 more yards youd think), i probably would have let them score here), I think oregon had 2 timeouts.  Not entirely sure though, Oregon might have had 1 timeout, and if auburn was smart they may have just took a knee at the 2 yard line, so its a tough call.

what does it matter, auburn defense was stellar in this game as predicted with 30 days to prepare when no one else did, that was the difference in the game period.  oregon got most of theirs on fluke plays, with 2 point conversions, fake punts and a gift fumble before their last td....yea yea its part of the game but auburn was the better overall team period

It's still almost a 40 yard FG....a penalty, fumble.....lots of things can happen from that range. I don't think this is close enough to let them score a TD....and I'm a believer in letting teams score to save time.....but in this instance, I think they're too far out.

oregon players shouldnt have tackle him at the 1...make no sense to tackle at all..shodulve at least let him score so you might have a crazy kickoff return td..you just never know...

 

sorta dont understand why they tackle him at the onemaybe they knew the line ahha

for some reason I think that whats they were trying to do at the end...letting him score at the end since the hole was so big...but then for some damn reason their secondary didnt get the message and tackle him at the 1 ahah

Great point Stuckey!

People don't understand can't let them score as they can just take a knee and kick the FG anyhow.  Ducks were more than lucky to be in this game and should be happy it was this close.

The thing that makes the most sense is to run a goalline type defense. If you can stuff 'em for no gain, do it. If you can't, you don't have anybody in the secondary to make the tackle anyways. Either knock 'em back or let 'em score. It's allowing modest gains that kills you.

Wouldn't it have been worth a shot though?

I mean these are a bunch of jacked up kids, who knows if they would have taken the knee. Dyer never went for the knee when he had the run to the endzone. He was stopped but he was trying to score.
