No, the triple option is something we have seen all season long, and practice against on a weekly basis.

So it's safe to say that the Tide failed at something? You've seen and practiced against the triple option all season long, but when JJ runs the option it's new to Bama.

it's funny to me, all these stats about how many yards bama got on nov. 5th or who crossed midfield.  the only numbers that matter is the final score.  same situation on jan. 9th.  it doesn't matter how many times you get into the red zone, if you can't kick a fieldgoal, then you aren't a complete team and don't deserve the win.

by the way, in BC i've managed to watch every SEC game (maybe not the boring vandy games, but all the others).  Especially the LSU games since that's where my parents met, there's a building there named after my relative, grew up going to games, etc. etc.

Reading comprehension is your friend... Apparently you missed that hint of sarcasm. I will dumb this down for you, don't worry... Can you think of ONE team that plays in the SEC that runs the triple option? No, in fact not one team OOC other that Ga soutern runs it/ran it on our schedule. So it's pretty safe to say that a defense who hasn't see an attack like theirs all season long, and only had a week to prepare, would more than likely struggle against it, which happened.

Aside from that we hadn't played any other teams that ran the option that I can think of. Certainly not a great enough number to properly prepare for it. So, once again, of course we are going to struggle with it.

On a positive note... We did win that game by 24 points, and no offense this season has scored more than 14 points on our defense.

We have about a month off to prepare for it this time. We have seen it, and are ready for it. I really feel like JJ is going to get shut down this time...

You had all summer to prepare last year, your ends aren't fast enough. Is that dumbed down enough?

It's also been almost 19 years since a sophomore QB won a NC. Coupled with the fact the most hostile environments McCarron played in this year were Happy Valley and MSU, I'd say he's in for an interesting game this time around.

Done arguing, winner take all. May the best team win, or should I say the team with the most points.

Boy, you're reaching now. We didn't have the same personnel last season as we did this season... Our defense is obviously better this season.

It has nothing to do with our ends not being fast enough. It was all a matter of game planning, and JJ messed that up.

Boy, you're reaching now. We didn't have the same personnel last season as we did this season... Our defense is obviously better this season.

It has nothing to do with our ends not being fast enough. It was all a matter of game planning, and JJ messed that up.

So you're saying Saban doesn't have the ability to makes changes at the half. Duly noted.

The only reason Bama fans talk so much right now is because everyone knows that Bama out played LSU in that game. Sure LSU ran the ball better, and they had better special teams, and made some better coaching decisions. But if you really watch that game Bama had better balance with their drives, they never got one dimensional, and they left about 13 points on the field, that LSU didn't. LSU is the better team right now, no doubt about it, but they weren't the better team that night, and a lot of people capping that game are looking at that so that they can make a determination on who to bet.
Damn, i wish you had 5k to wager on this game! How about i give you 2 points and i lay 11-10? Do you have any money, or do you just blabber on and on?  Bama outplayed their balls in the first game!!  Can you put up or shut up??  If you can't put up, what do you do?

    Tappy-

You are wrong about them not being prepared for Jefferson. Saban clearly stated after the game that they were surprised that Jefferson didn't play more, considering how ineffective Lee was. They knew JJ would play. Lack of preperation wasn't the problem. It was their lack of quickness getting to the outside that hurt them. Those things can't be coached. Bama is more physical and LSU is quicker. Will it help LSU win again? That remains to be seen. Your post in the other thread is the best one i have seen from you yet(and i am being serious) - Whoever makes the better adjustments for this game and executes them will come away with the win. (something along those lines)

there's been some pretty cocky talk coming from tide fans on these boards for a team that lost at home.

Alabama has a god complex meaning they really think they are better then everyone else. They gave an undefeated Utah ZERO credit for beating them a few years back, instead blaming it on a "let down" and having the head coach actually blame the fans for the loss because of how they booed or cheered durung the game. They claim national championships 98% of the teams would be embarrassed to claim such as the 1941 "championship team, what a joke") after going 9-2, finishing 3rd in the SEC and 20TH in the AP after some bozo voted them that way. Take a look at this if you want a good laugh...

Here's one for you that most do not know. Alabama won the SEC in 1972 by half a game. How do you win a championship by half a game you ask? You play one more conference game then everyone else. Bama played 8 SEC games that year while every other team played 7. Check this out...
    https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/conferences/sec/1972.html

They act as if the 2000-2007 seasons do not exist as if someone outside their university hired Shula and Dubose and Price...News flash...Those years count, you got beat by a better Utah team and you have about 8 national championships (somewhere in that neighborhood) that anyone with an ounce of humility would claim and again, refer to the link I posted above.

Having said all of that they will most likely beat LSU this time. I realize it is two totally different games, but if you seen the way they played Michigan St after the Auburn loss you can expect the same intensity as they will not lose twice in the same year to any, not even a very good LSU team, especially considering they should have won the first game had Saban had enough common sense over ego to stop trying long field goals after the first one and punted LSU deep. LSU has no chance of moving the ball on Bama where Bama will gets some first downs and a few points this time... If I offended anyone with the truth so be it...It is what it is...

6 whole points in an OT game?  QB taking a sack in OT?

Jesus Tappy, give it a rest.

I never heard him say that... Jefferson played for 3 quarters... You can assume that we actually had a game plan for Jefferson all you want. Even if you are right, it's kind of like I said, we will be making a months worth of adjustments, so we will see who makes the best ones.

I guess you are making an argument for an LSU team that scored 9, to our 6? And he took a sack in OT with our starting OT injured, and Jefferson was also sacked earlier in the game, so I am still not sure what kind of points you are trying to make here.

You actually make a good point in the fact that national championships are meaningless as your statement can be said about 90% of the teams playing today on some level. You have schools like Bama that are Ego driven to the point of claiming championships some 40 years after the fact just to raise the number while most schools are integrity driven and do not claim championships they rightfully could. It all comes back to the stupidest way of determining a champion in all of sports. Even  Womens Volleyball has a play-off.

I don't call it Ego driven when we could literally claim about 16 or 17, and only claim 13.
