a little biased here i admit but wvu rolls in this one.the big difference this year is wvu defense which is much improved over last years.able to pressure the qb much better than last year with the d-line also blitz from all over the field with the unorthodox stack d we run.everybody talks about how lowly ranked they are against the pass which is true but the main reason for that is we are often up big early and the other team has to throw the ball every down trying to play catch up.too much speed on offense for s.florida to slow us down enough white,slaton,devine just too much for the bulls.barring to's and stupid penalties wvu wins going away late.,

Please note: QB / RB were very banged up last year - WVU has much more balanced offense and more play makers to compliment, have been preparing for this game all year - also WVU was in a very bad spot last year when they played SF - I didnt think SF to win but loved them to cover - a much different situation this year. Remember this is a better team then the team that beat Georgia in the Supar Bowl.
 
I have a lot of respect for SF - I just believe WVU will get it done

I LOVE THAT FIRST WRITE UP.  I'VE BEEN TELL PEOPLE ABOUT SO FLA SINCE LAST YEAR.  I WATCHED THAT WV GAME LAST YEAR AND YOU'RE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT, WV STR8 UP CHOKED AND IT WONT BE NO DIFFERENT THIS YEAR.  BESIDES, GIVING SO FLA 7 AT HOME IS INSANE (UNLESS THEIR PLAYING DA GATORS) LOL.

SFL is a good play but I hate freakin ppl used " locked, play of the year..." you jinx the play, I can tell SFL gonna lose now.

The previous years WVa was mediocre to pitiful and lost to top 10 teams (Va Tech, Miami and the better than usual 11-3 Terp team in 02) each of those years. 
 
No wonder it is so hard for us newbies to gain respect.

Id be careful here. Sure USF won last year, but if you stop and take a closer look then you will see what really happened.

Slaton fumbled on the 1 yard line going in for a TD. Pat White had a fumble return for a TD. WVU botched a fake field goal and didnt score. That is a 17 point swing in a game that WVU lost by 5 points. It's not as if USF ran WVU out of its own building.

On top of that, Slaton, White and Schmitt were all injured for last year's game. White played but he was immobile due to his injury. Thus, the read option that he runs so well was neutralized. Two years ago, a healthy Pat White had TD runs of 69 and 77 yards.

Finally, a few random thoughts. WVU's defense is much improved through 4 games. It ranks top 20 nationally. Two of USF's coaches from last year's game are now on WVU's sideline. Noel Devine.

Im not touching this game b/c I dont bet on WVU, but I just thought Id thrown some info out there for those that might be on the fence or for those that are thinking about hammering USF.

USF is very talented and well coached, but barring another gift from WVU, the Mountaineers should win and cover in my opinion.

take it for what its worth from a diehard mountaineer fan.....

I love USF this week as I think they're the better team that's at home catching a TD.  While this thread was opening I said to myself 5 times, anyone but South Florida.  So fucking obvious.

Last yr didn't USF knock out White early in that game and that might
be why it was WVU's worst off. showing?
USF is coming up a darling because they beat N Carolina at home{wait till basketball] and Auburn@aub which is looking less and
less impressive. They didn't look all that vs Eton. Lay the 6 1/2.

I don't know why everyone is killing this guy.  I know WV is improved, but so is SFL!  Grothe is a great QB.  I wasn't a believer until I went to the Auburn game this year.  He makes great reads, is accurate and simply a very smart player.  Don't think this is a POY, but definitely think that SFL is the play in this game.  This is the biggest game of the year for them and is the 1st sell-out in school history so the atmosphere will be electric.  Also, I think that SFL has one of the best and most underrated coaches in all of football.

Should I be concerned that i loved this game a week ago and everyone now seems to be on my side?  I have liked the money line all week and hoped thisline would move, which it hasn't.  When peoplemake games I like their plays of the year, it's always a scary proposition.  Good luck to Bulls backers anywho.

WVU's worst offensive game last season came against SFL. And this SFL team is much better defensively this season. Last year they completely neutralized WVU's running game and they had an average defense against the run. This year they lead the Big East in that category. Grothe is a playmaker, and he now has a solid running game to help him. They are extremely taugh at home, they have been an ATS machine lately and have tons of experience. First revenge game for WVU and in last 6 seasons they are 0-6 ATS in their first revenge games of the season. Choke ! They are so used to be huge favs early in the season that as soon as they are not favored by more than a TD (as soon as they get a real test) they chose. 2-8 ATS in this spot last 10 years. There is something about game #5 for them as well. They are 20-4 SU in first 4 weeks in last 5 seasons but 1-5 SU in week 5. Guess what. That's when they usually get their first real test...and that's when they choke !
