Ohio St .  has ZERO QUALITY WINS !!!!

Barely Beating Northern Illinois is their best victory in my Opinion .

Penn St is Crap ( HAMMERED by Temple )  Most Overrated QB in Nation..

    Virginia Tech is 3-4

    2-5 ATS   =

I would put Michigan St and Iowa above them in a PLAYOFF POLL based on performance and Strength of schedule ..

PLEASE TELL ME WHY OHIO ST. SHOULD BE IN THE TOP 5

WINNING THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP LAST SEASON DOES NOT COUNT  TOWARDS THIS SEASON

they are the defending champs so I have them in the playoff until someone beats them, I also don't overreact to what has happened so far this year, they looked average last year as well until playoff time hit and they beat Alabama and Oregon

I don't know how others do their own rankings but I know how I do mine, I think they are top 4 team until they lose a game

just my opinion Double, I can certainly see your side of the argument though and this team doesn't look very good thus far

I understand , but they WON it last year is the only reason I keep hearing . The PERFORMANCE this season thus far is just NOT THAT GOOD.  If anything I would put Michigan St above them ...

Last year is last year.......it has no bearing on the present. That being said, all the unbeatens should be at/near the top at this point. The UOS certainly doesn't look like the #1 team right now, & if they aren't they'll be exposed soon enough.

Some folks out there take an objective and literal approach to their rankings.  I personally look at who I believe are the best teams when making any sort of ranking...simple as that.  The best teams, regardless of strength of schedule, quality wins, etc.  Not the "most deserving."  The "most deserving" teams getting a pass over teams that you perceive as better seems about as useful as a participation trophy to me.  Sure, a combination of tough opponents and getting through that mess undefeated helps one's perception, but it's not the college kid's fault who they play.  Most schedules are pieced together bit by bit over the course of a decade.

So I guess what I'm trying to establish here is that the majority of us "Joe's" and pollsters alike believe they're still amongst the most talented and well-coached teams out there.

I also think the "my playoff teams" as of today are still premature, because there is a ton of football yet to be played, and anyone who follows sports closely knows how short memories tend to be.  For instance, Utah is the nation's darling, but here in less than a week when they lose to USC, they'll be "not that great" and when they've got 2 losses later in the season, they'll just be "a pretender."

    My take.

Good talk.  Keep up the solid work, DoubleUp.

#1 reason: Their defense is salty and will remain salty.
#2 reason: Their offense has fireworks potential- yes, we've only seen brief moments of this potential this season, but it is there and even when they've played average, their scores this season have been 42, 38, 20, 38, 34, 49,38. The biggest head scratcher is the 20 vs. NIU. So while they've been unimpressive overall, those are some nice point totals while stumbling along.
#3 reason: Champs know how to win and they tend to do enough to get by. They don't spend much time worrying about impressing voters because they know they only need to keep winning and keep advancing.

I don't love this team, but to be honest with you, no one else has jumped up to catch my attention outside of Baylor (and we never know about Baylor because they play no one with any defense.)

Clemson is another team that could be a contender, but I haven't seen enough of them to declare that they are deserving of #1.

Hey brother, good to see you having a profitable season here and in the pro ball.

I agree with the idea that up to this point OSU has not looked like the best team in the nation, or even the best team in their conference.

Being from around here I'm usually forced to watch the games if I'm not at my own house or if I'm at a bar.

I don't think we can question the defense as much as they've been on the field and are probably the main reason they are winning at the moment.

In my opinion though I just can't understand why you leave J.T Barret on the sidelines and continue to watch a stagnant, non explosive offense (outside of Zeke) on the field with Cardale struggling series after series.  Barret proved in the PSU game the offense clicks better with him.  If he starts and gets the majority of the PT I see some big wins in the coming weeks for OSU and some wins ATS as well.

Just my 2 cents and no I'm not an OSU fan.

GL Bro keep up the good work

They started out number one by a large margin and have lost that large margin as the season has played out

It's one of the reason I don't like preseason rankings. You can see it's not accurate

They aren't in mine and I'm a Buckeyes fan.....

    1.   I don't believe in preseason rankings
    2.  I learned from Florida State last year.   Preseason ranking + poor play + weak schedule should not get you to the playoff if there are better teams out there.  IF OSU beats Michigan State and Michigan then I have no problem putting them in the playoff

Expect at least 3 teams to get hosed; at least two 'usual suspects' to make it with 1 loss , you know, ESPN needs mass appeal like Saban or Meyer, just like at basketball time CBS needs Pitino, Krysheski, Calipari, so they get red carpet rides. It's always money folks. There is NOTHING ILLEGAL ABOUT FAVORITISM. Look it up if you think there's s law against it.

Even the score against Penn State is misleading.  Penn State went for it on 4th down 2 times deep in Ohio State territory and came up short. This was a 21-10 game in the 4th.  Ohio State has struggled literally in every single game this season against inferior opponents.

I don't get why everyone gets so obsessed with these fast paced Big12 schools. Who has Baylor beat, or TCU. TCU barely beat an average Minnesota team and got extremely lucky to beat Texas Tech. I think we see this huge offensive numbers but overlook the fact that the Big12 plays no defense. When they get outta conference, in the bowl games, you won't see those numbers. Last year the Big12 went 2-5 in bowl games.

I believe Ohio State is a top 4 team but they have not played like it. And its not who they've beat because like i said, Baylor haven't beat anyone either its the fact that Ohio State isn't winning the games the way they should. They're barely beating bad teams. That should have been the argument, not their schedule.

The top 4 teams imo are Clemson, Ohio State, Bama, and Baylor. (Utah loses this weekend, and LSU is very good but the lack of a solid passing attack will catch up to them)

It's obvious you're not a fan of anything Ohio State (which you've shown even before the season), and that's quite alright....I've even thrown up a couple times so far this season by the putrid I've seen on the field. With that said, Baylor playing 1 team with a pulse (TT) so far isn't any better than OSU's schedule. Don't be fooled by all their points, their D is absolutely awful and there's no way you can defend that.

Is OSU playing like a playoff team? Nope.

Does that matter when it comes to the polls? Ask Florida State.

Michigan State has basically their entire D injured so far this season, and C Cook isn't exactly playing to his 'heisman potential" he had coming into the season. Game being in Columbus this year will end with a 14+ Buckeye victory like LY.

Lastly, Cardale is OUT. JTB is in.....expect the same team you witnessed the last 9-10 games of the regular season last year.

Baylor can't beat them. OSU will get a couple stops. That's all that will be needed to beat Baylor. I don't get the hype with TCU and Baylor. Yeah they score, they also give up 30 a game to who?

That's why the SEC has won like 8 of the last 10 national championships, they play defense. People just oooo and awwww over Baylor winning 60 to 30 when LSU or Bama is winning 35 to 7 which is actually more impressive. Like I said Ohio State hasn't looked impressive but make no mistake this team wouldn't lose more than 1 game in the Big12 if that. And I'm a WVU grad, so I root for the Big12 but I'm not delusional.

For me with Baylor it's how they are winning, Hammering foes .... No Doubt in my mind Baylor would not struggle with Indiana or Northern Illinois ...

NOT saying Ohio St . Is a bad squad , and I would definitely put them in the playoff if they Win out, but NOT as the one Seed ....
