Golden Nugget starts rolling out Games of the Year

I was only able to catch some of the 10 announced on Hardcore Sports Radio (Sirius 98). If one of you locals can saunter down there and get them I'm sure we'd all be appreciative. I think they're going to post several a day until all 130 are done by next Wednesday, the 1st.

Anyway, here's what I was able to catch, and my memory might be a little foggy due to the distraction of negotiating my car around Los Angeles clusterfuck traffic:

Alabama -6 vs LSU, November 7th
UGA -4 vs LSU, October 3rd
Texas -3 vs Oklahoma, (at new Texas Stadium) October 17th
USC -10.5 at Notre Dame, October 17th
Oklahoma -10.5 vs Oklahoma State, November 28th
Penn State -3 vs Ohio State, November 7th (I think this is what I heard on this one)

Where'd you find those?

Doesn't seem like too awful an idea to bet Illinois in that Week 1 game now if you had access to those lines somehow, with the good chance of getting some middle opportunity out of it.  It may not rise above 3, but I think there's a good chance it gets to 4 or higher...and even at 3 you're still getting something out of it...

Crazy thing is Florida will probably cover that spread against LSU...I am a little curprised at how much credit USC is getting against tOSU though.

Floirda @ LSU +11 - overreaction from last year, this line will probably be 6.5-9.5 range when it gets here.  LSU will have a young QB though, and against Florida's two deep returning defense, he can't afford to fuck up anywhere

Georgia vs. Florida -16 - UGA will probably come out of nowhere and make this game tough, I can just feel it already

FSU @ Florida -20 - Hard to tell what FSU will be like, I can't get a read on them yet at all.  Going to have to see a lot of games first


USC @ Ohio St. +6.5 - all around good line IMO. I think it might be around a half point different one way or the other when it gets here, but it seems about right

Got these lines relayed from a friend.  He picked up a sheet at the Nugget that has the games of the year.  These were a sampling of what he told me.

I obviously like the Illini -2.5 but I was thinking 4 here, if not 5.5 or something in that ballpark.  I hate taking a fave when they are 2.5 as it seems like the sucker play usually but I think I just have to back the Illini at this price.

I thought the Boise/Oregon game line could have been all over the place... very tough to set... I came up with Oregon +1 so I like them getting the 4 here

VaTech +4 is a no-brainer to me.  Experience wins early

UGA @ Okie St.  I was expecting an OSU -7 so I'm a bit surprised here but the Bulldogs will be dangerous this year but I don't think first game out.  Liking the Pokes -3.

UNR all day long, I'm praying it stays that high.

by the time the game rolls around, LSU will be ready for the Gators.

I was thinking that USC would be laying 3/4

That Tennessee/UF game will be very intersting.  27 though?  wow was my reaction too, i was thinking 21.5

I'll end up losing my money on that Florida/Tennessee game...will probably just pray that Eric Berry somehow scores 3 TDs off INT/fumble returns and gives them a shot...
 
I actually thought my numbers would have them as a heavier favorite but I only came out with Okie State -2 on UGA based on numbers alone...would still probably play them, even though I don't think the line is off much
 
VT appears to be a popular pick...just have to try and have a short memory and forget about what happened to them last time they went up against a solid SEC team in Baton Rouge two years ago.  I don't think Beamer would outcoach Saban in Week 1...
 
BTW, thinking about it now, how the fuck was I not on Bama against Clemson last year?  People actually expecting things from the Tigers, and fuck, it was Saban vs. Tommy Bowden

I'd also like some confirmation on that RRS line, I thought Oklahoma would be favored slightly there and would love to get a play on them at +3 now...
 
The Sooners only laying 10.5 in Norman to Okie State is too low as well

I am going to play these futures at the Nugget or the Hilton:
 
Illinois -2 1/2 vs Mizou.
LSU +11 vs Florida
 
I never play USC games, but if I did, I owuld take Ohio State, buy the hook and get 7 against USC.
 
Florida -27 at home against Tennessee is about right.  You know that Meyer will keep his entire first string in that game until they have compleely destroyed Tennessee.  Florida should put 42+ on the board. I though the line would be closer to 31.
