non-hindsight for me, at least. and I think almost everyone was of this view (assuming it's choosing the best 4 teams)
I think any objective football analyst would have told you that Georgia was top 4 team. maybe the best team.
but if you put in Georgia, who do you take out?
Alabama.... well they just beat Georgia.
Texas.... well they beat Alabama... and it would be 2 SEC teams in playoff.
here's a big hypothetical (very very unlikely)....what if you could make the argument that a 2-loss team is the one of the 4 best teams in mid-December? they didn't have 3-4 of their most key players in weeks 1-4 and played two top 10 teams... should they make it?
it seems like the whole thing was "the rules said X" (but not definitively) and most of the CFB talked another way i.e. protection for undefeated teams.
Washington......... undefeated team. and then it would be 2 SEC teams and a 2024 SEC team......
of course, not sure if it would have made things better or worse if CFP committee had added a "rider" at some point that undefeated conference champions get into CFP automatically (unless there's 5 of them. so unlikely)... but then it wouldn't be best 4 teams.

Bruh they might as well be playing Toledo state right now it’s all 3rd and 4th stringers
but they just lost a massive winning streak to Alabama.........
but I think you are right..my point was that there were not enough spots this year. and upon further review, I guess I was just restating the obvious. (serious comments, not sarcasm)

It was obvious 20 years ago... CFB has to have an 8-team playoff. It solves every problem and resolves every debate. It would not only ALWAYS crown a legit champion with no valid dispute against it, but it would instantly become the most exciting "tournament" in any sport.
In a 4-team system, there will always be some team like Georgia that has a case to be in the playoff (FYI... Georgia is definitely a TOP 2 team this year, and I say that not giving a rats ass about UGA football). In an 8-team system, nobody can make a valid case that the #9 team should be there, because in the old system, #9 wouldn't even get a mention.
It's criminal that this hasn't been done, and now they are thinking of changing it to 6, which is idiotic! Haven't paid attention to CFB for a long time, even though it used to be my favorite sport. The current system is a joke, and doesn't crown a legitimate champion.

As a Dawg fan....I was most worried about playing Alabama in the SEC Championship vs any of the other top contender teams. I felt if we beat Bama, we would win it all....Bama was the only team that could beat us; always a tough game. I also felt Bama dominated us in that game on both sides of the ball....but it could have been different in the playoffs if we both made it in. With all that being said, I feel that all of the teams that made it in deserved to be there...
Alabama will beat Michigan in a somewhat close game......Texas will win in a blowout......Alabama vs Texas in a rematch; it will be a very good game.

It was either gonna be Georgia or bama. You certainly wouldn't leave Washington or Michigan out. I can see Washington & bama in the final. All Georgia had to do was beat bama.......once.

@Duderonomy Next season college football is going to 12 team playoff. Top 4 get a bye... First round games are at home stadium.
Yea, saw that... last time I checked they were talking about 6.
12 is just as stupid and worthless as 4 or 6. Why is the #12 team even in the conversation? 8 is the answer and 8 is the ONLY answer! Until they figure that out, CFB is still a joke!

They lose 1 game in two years, after destroying the entire field last year... and they're not even given a shot? Please acknowledge that this system is bullshit!

CFB is similar to today's society. It is not who is the best but let's give it to the most deserving. As all have stated the last month, Georgia would be favored over all 4 teams in the CFP.
On the flip side, opting out and the portal is ruining college football bowl games. Orange Bowl officials and sponsors should be pissed. I am old school. If you enter the portal and signed a scholarship, you should have to repay that scholarship. Something needs to change of college football is nearing the edge.

I'd have put Georgia in over Michigan. Wins against so-so Ohio St. and a Penn St. who was EXACTLY all year what they showed today. Short and sweet.......Georgia would be close to a double digit favorite over Michigan on a neutral and I'd take out a second on my house to unload on Georgia.
No need to outrun the bear...just the next slowest guy

I said it when they played......SEC championship game is or very well could be THE National Championship game
Exactly what I said.......the two best teams in college football played in Athens that Saturday, it's just a shame someone had to lose. I have zero doubt if we were back to the BCS that calculation would bear this out.

It's already too far gone and it's only going to get worse. They shouldn't even be allowed to call it college football.....all it is is a triple AAA league for the NFL. The days of an academic juggernaut like Northwestern or Stanford competing against the limes of Alabama and Georgia are long gone. At least the Big-10 schools like Wisconsin still hold the kids to a modicum of an academic standard unlike those that do WHATEVER THEY HAVE TO DO to keep the kids field-eligible. If I'm understanding correctly....... football is absolutely paying for EVERYTHING as far as athletic expenses go at a !ot of these schools so I'm not holding my breath that the deans have any intention of righting this ship.

Michigan won the game they had to, Georgia didn’t. Also funny how Texas with a loss isn’t mentioned as team that should have been left out. They did play a murders row schedule in Big 12
