1. Does the SEC - BIG10 rivalry continue with the BIG10 continuing to wrest away what was almost always a ritual to see the winner come from a 'southern' team?
Last 3Winners > north teams
previous 8 > south teams
2015 > north
previous 10 > south teams
Its clear to say, the SOUTH has dominated college football in the 21st century, but, further to the question above;
2. Are we on the cusp of an period where the northern U's dominate college football for a 8-10 yr stretch despite mass transfer movement and increased competition for FIVE and FOUR star talent coming out of high school?
3. Does stocking talent with top shelf 5/4 star transfer talent buy you a quicker shot at a championship ala Indiana and almost Texas Tech, or does ensuring you have a great coach who can recruit top shelf young talent while mixing in some strong transfer talent, make the most difference?
(I feel this is shifting but not enough examples to know if a trend)
4. How will Indiana fare without Mendoza, but with maybe the best hands talent in Sales coming along with an experienced QB in Hoover from TCU? Does Michigan take a major step back after all that has happened and how does Ole Miss respond to Kiffin's exit and a very competitive SEC this year? Are the Ducks flying under the radar now? Will Arch stay healthy and fulfill his promise that he showed at the end of last season dragging a very talented Texas time to finally cross the threshold into the Final?
5. How will LSU and Bama fare with a hungry Georgia, Texas and perhaps Tennessee (with Knowles at DC with a very talented offense)? Will Ole Miss, Oklahoma and TexAM stay in the hunt for an elite bowl eligibility at the end of the season?
I am in process in doing an analysis into the re-stocking of top talent in the SEC and BIG 10 and will share the comparative data shortly...... ... kind of loving a boring MLB season so I can dive into

I am reading that Athlon article that I posting above in post #2 and man, it raises some very interesting facts that I have not realized BUT, it counterintuitive to what I am discovering in post #3 in this thread, and am seeing in recruiting both by transfer in the ACC and BIG 12 which is next on my analysis agenda (just completed ACC last night):
"When the Big Ten’s USC finished with the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class in 2026 per 247Sports, that ended a run of 18 years with SEC schools holding the No. 1 spot in that ranking.
The SEC just finished with its all-time worst single-season bowl record at 2-8. The conference was favored to win seven of the 10 games (not counting the head-to-head matchup between Oklahoma and Alabama in the playoff )."

- I also feel that if you add the 5 star + 4 star additions from both transfer and freshman recruiting, this provides a strong base to add to your returning starters to give you a basis to pick your starting 22 players on both sides of the ball

Recruiting has taken on a whole new meaning in this era of "free agency". I don't think getting 4/5* HS players means much at all anymore as many of them will just transfer after 1 year.

Sad but true with the recruits comment but you have to think now, these recruits in their freshman year better take their preparation, improved body and physicality much more seriously because to attract the $5-10 million NIL transfer payment agreement that the top 5 star are getting, they better have an upside to their innate physical and athletic skillset and not just be a physical freak or speedster.
And if so, does that mean that a top program consistently in Playoff picture that has top conditioning and strengthening/skills program might hold their topshelf talent that much more if they can massage the lack of 'full playing time' just do enough to keep the dreams of glory for a Natty dancing in their heads and not leave?
You have to think, the selfish types like Carson Beck will still be transfer fodder anyway...... so you may be right on the freshman pursuit of topshelf talent pursuing greener financial pastures.
I think doing the research I am going to do for a couple of years will provide the answers....finding the right formula of transfer - freshman recruiting is probably it and I look at Texas, LSU, USC this year and maybe even Tennessee to be 4 teams that I am going to really eye their progress since all three attracted a shit ton of that talent in transfer or freshman

There will always be a few true frosh that will have an impact, but building a team, or building depth anyway, based on HS recruits might just be a thing of the past.
